Yeah, I've been doing the Anki thing for over a year now and some other stuff before that. The beginning was a huge slog and just a panel of a doujinshi felt like a mountain but now that I'm closing in on 10k words/2500 kanji recognition things are slowly starting to come together and I can read simple stuff like nukige in a timely manner. Also all these old Japanese songs and Niconico compilations I've had in on my harddrive for soon 10 years, everytime I listen to them I understand something new. You almost start to cry (yes I'm a fag)

The whole language thing is my first long time commitment to learning too. It's a cool experience. Also being able to laugh at translation drama is fun.
