tl;dr
On a different layer from the lines, draw lines where each layer of shading connect, fill the lighter side with the normal color and fill the darker side with, say, a 30% darker tone of that color. Or fill it all in with the color, make the line and fill the side of the line that's darker with a 30% grey or something. I can't remember which youtube animator used this trick but his tutorial on it was more in depth and he colored and shaded a sketch of his in barely 10 minutes. At the very least what I said should at least point you down the right road.

The port is fine (less content than the Wii U version), but it's still Lost World, so I don't really recommend it unless you get a steep discount or REALLY love Sonic.

Was Amy born without back spines?
Is that why she doesn't spin into a ball? I can't imagine it's that she's not flexible enough. And I don't even think spines are necessary because Tails can do it. Or is she just too scared to tear her cute dress to shreds?
I'm just curious because the core of her gameplay is that she's basically the opposite of sonic, in that she can't kill enemies simply by jumping into them nor rolling into them, meaning she's got to stop to attack or avoid enemies more often than not.

The textures and buildings didn't really look the same throughout the city levels but the game did feel like it cut corners around the middle of it.
I don't even know what I'd replace the city levels with since they are iconic. I guess Emerald Coast should have been in the console version, Crisis City I'm not sure about I would have preferred Kingdom Valley for variety sake but it was the best stage in Sonic 06.

I'm watching videos on lost world mods, they put levels from other games, good effort but the traditional sonic levels don't seem to go well with the parkour.

Sega hasn't taken a chance since Unleashed. Colors, Gens, Lost World, even Boom were all just falling back on tried and true methods.
What you need to realize is the games that you so love, Sonic 1 and 2 and 3&K, were all fucking HUGE chances, that sega didn't know would work.
That's what I love about Sonic games. They're not Mario games who exist to be a face. They're usually glorified tech demos. Sonic adventure was built to show off the dreamcast's water tech and opacity of textures. Sonic 06 was built to be a test of the Havok engine for Sega.

As an aside, I'm gonna get around to playing S3&K for the first time from the humble bundle. I just beat Sonic 1 and 2 for the first time and wonder what awaits me. But the past year people have really been tearing into sonic games for no reason, going as far to say there are no good sonic games which is fucking insane.
