Okay I think I don't understand how to fight in gyms. I thought I was going to btfo the nearest gym since my Doduo is 214 and the defending Bulbasaur was 118. However what I wasn't expecting was that after the Bulbasaur died a Doduo showed up and beat me. After checking the gym screen a little more I realized there are four pokemon controlling the gym, and the boss is a 253 Raticate. How are you supposed to beat four Pokemon with just one? Am I missing something?

Catching high CP pokemon is the same as catching low CP pokemon. The high CP pokemon is just upgraded a few times already. Meaning you don't have to spend your dust and candy as if it were a low CP pokemon.

The half circle, above your pokemon shows how much training % it has. 2 different pidgey's will always end up with the same CP if fully trained.
High cp pokemon just give the advantage of saving dust and candy.

tl;dr
if you want to save candy and dust, aim for higher cp pokemon. else there's simply no difference in end results.

Yep, I just turn it off for like 3-4 seconds, then turn it back off. It tried to re-calibrate, but is off in the first few sec. After it calibrates it runs back to your original position. Give it some time to lose gps connection.
