There are now some graphics options but it's nothing to write home about.
The controls are the same except now you're mapping it to the PS4 button scheme so now you can actually skip cutscenes if you want to. However for some reason, they use the xbox button naming scheme with the exception of L3, R3. Xbox games generally refer to them as LS, RS.

Time to talk about games. Give your thoughts.

I really like how they reduced the party count in V2, sort of like a throwback to HDN. Yeah it makes DLC chars even more OP since you can't fill out your party without them, but I'm not overwhelmed by choices like in the others. In RB3 I didn't even use half of the makers.

More importantly, from a story perspective I think the events flow much better. With only 3-4 people present, whenever something happens they can all say their piece without breaking the flow. Back in Mk2 when you rescued the goddesses there were so many people, some of them didn't get more than two sentences off across the whole true end route.

I think because if this I liked the HDN and early RB1 dynamics the best, when it was just Nep, Compa and IF. And this feels similar, at least the Zero Dimension so far, but I heard the rest of V2 is like that too.

I think for the next game, it would be neat if they could put in a system where you choose your party before entering a dungeon and then stick with it until you leave. When entering one as part of a story quest, you'd be restricted in which characters you bring with you, but if you just want to grind or do sidequests, you can pick whichever ones you like.

I also like how in V2 how enemies are strong enough to harm me, and I have limited resources so I have to choose between spending SP to destroy them before they damage me, or spending SP to heal, and I still have limited resources so there's a sense of danger and difficulty there. SP attacks also seem more viable this time around.

Or at least, there was a sense of danger and difficulty before I got single-person EXE Drives just now and because of how fast the EXE bar fills I can destroy everything instantly with infinite resources now. What the fuck, they have never been able to balance single-person EXE Drives before and they weren't able to balance them ONCE AGAIN. V2 had a really good thing going here and I was having fun but now all that development was tossed into the trash. What an utter waste.

Is that so? I'll hang in here a while longer and see what comes of it then. EXE Drives seem to be stronger than SP skills though, and practically free of cost on top of that, so still feel a bit iffy.

It's a shame if combos can outdamage SP skills and EXE drives though, that's just boring, and makes pretty much for the same gameplay as in previous games. In previous games I wouldn't use SP skills 'cause they were too costly and here they're apparently just subpar now that I feel able to afford them.


On another note, the difference between characters with new animations and recycled ones is really jarring, the old ones are so bad compared to the new ones. So is the difference between new and old dungeons, the new dungeons actually are pretty cool but after getting used to them in Zero Dimension I'm hit with the old bland bags of crap again. Yuck.
