Sony probably should. It might generate some hype for the game. Opposed to the not much it gets normally.

Or just put a big "From the makers of Dark Souls" tagline as painful as it is to suggest. That'd get a far larger Western audience.

Whats that attachment on the side of the gun supposed to be? Looks like a bayonet, but it's way too short for that. And BFF would never bother with melee equipment.

Do you think weapon attachments might be cool to have in AC6? We already have weapon tuning which is basically the same thing. Instead of marking 3 points into accuracy though, you would buy an actual piece of equipment to add onto your gun instead like a scope or laser sight. Just think of all the cool stuff you could have.

>Energy blade range extenders
>gatling gun firing rate increaser
>heat sinks for energy weapons
>bayonet attachments
>underslung weapons (shotguns, grenade launchers)
>tripods so you can deploy regular weapons in the ready position
>firing rate modifications (single fire, burst fire, full auto)
>shoulder/arm conversion kit (use handheld weapons on shoulder slot, shoulder weapons in hand slot)
>>
>>147744101
Surprised there's not something like different ammo types for weapons already. Could just be like actual guns for the most part, soft point, armor piercing etc.
>>
>>147744101
Since you have already the other bunch of stuff to care about in AC, I think this could work for a FPS made by from, maybe as a spin off of AC.

Remember how on ACV story, a group of rebels enter Father's tower and capturing him before the Carol and Chief ruin everthing? this could be a game were you play as a soldier doing the more "delicated" work that a AC can't do, some missions have you even advance on a city alonside ACs and MTs, but your mission is to enter a place steal something, kill secure someone, hack something, and doing this with a set of customized weapons and equipment, some equipments are made to work better open spaces under constant fire, other to move fast and kill fast inside of building and similar, how you equip yourself for each mission depends on the player.
>>
>>147746801
I don't really see the appeal. The only cool thing about AC settings are the giant robots. Take that away and it's just another generic scifi shooter. If anything, they could combine on foot elements with the mech action I guess, though that doesn't usually turn out very well.
>>
>>147747497
>they could combine on foot elements with the mech action I guess, though that doesn't usually turn out very well.

Combining this is close to make a game with both on foot segments and vehicle segments, the best example I have on how to handle both is halo.
>>
>>147746801
This sounds a bit too much like front mission evolved.

And as From Soft have about no experience with the FPS genre it'd almost certainly send the same way. Poorly.
>>
>>147747826
>the best example I have on how to handle both is halo.
Not even a mech game though. I'd say Titanfall, Lost Planet, and Mechassault 2 are better inspirations.

Either way it would probably be a horrible AC game. Just look at what happened to Front Mission Evolved with its shitty infantry missions.

So, the Assault Suit Leynos remaster comes out in the West soon. Anyone tried the original or any of the the other Assault Suit games? They're pretty good.
>>
>>147753404
The original is one of my favorite games of all time. I've never been able to beat it without cheats though.
>>
>>147753530
I'll admit I've never touched the original and I know there's one on PS2 but like Last Raven it appears to have been horribly under printed for the UK market, same publisher too not that surprisingly.

Remaster seems pretty good from what I played down at comic con though.
>>
>>147754067
You could just emulate it. It's a Sega Genesis game, any toaster can handle it. Though the remaster's classic mode seems to be a 1:1 copy of the original, just with modern graphics, so you probably won't miss out on anything by playing that instead.

Well /acg/, I'm new to Armored Core and I see Veredict Day is on sale at 5€ on the PSN.
Should I get it or should I emulate AC3 first?
>>
>>147815306
Grab VD anyway if you want some multiplayer stuff, the games a bit dead but there's enough of us now to at the very least do some free battle stuff.

The early AC games are very different from 4 and 5 though so just bear that in mind.
>>
>Leos Klein's VA
fuck my sides
>>
>>147816602
In what ways? I just want good customization options.
>>
>>147817781
Gameplay, 4 drops certain elements of the game, adds its own and ramps the speed up.

5 is also completely different from 4 and 3, it adds yet more stuff and changes up the rules again.

1-3 is more just a progressive increase in the amount of features and gameplay elements.

All games have pretty good customisation, so no worry there.
>>
>>147816780
Not a series known for great voice acting, over played and generally shitty is the MO for the ps2 and ps1 games. Doesn't really get much better later either.
>>
>>147818103
So I think I'll emulate 3 first, grab VD and then I'll jump into 4 and 5.

Thanks /acg/
>>
>>147818679
Worth bearing in mind that 4 and 5 have no online anymore. You can't even get the patches for 4. 5 was quite multiplayer centric so it's maybe not as strong as the other games without any MP.
>>
>>147819728
Well, then I will stop on 4 and stay with VD as it's still alive.
>>
>>147821667
For Answer has multiplayer as well but it has its issues online.
>>
>>147818360

Here's your order:
3 , Silent Line, Verdict Day, For Answer, 4

Silent line is a direct sequel to 3, so if you're playing 3 it's definitely worth it.

Verdict day is very different, but closer to Silent Line/3 in gameplay, and very good on its own.

Skip V unless you REALLY want more of Verdict Day but are okay with a vastly inferior game. 4 is still worth getting on its own.

Basically arena combat for its short run.

It's like 5 chapters. Focuses on some female arena pilot who's dad was a professional Raven who made his own unaffliciated merc group.
One battle is trying to prove her self to some other Raven who worked with his dad, another with no.1 Raven and one with a H+ and her brother who are pretty much stuck with being experimental pilots for one of the two big countries/corps in the setting.

It's all right. Honestly too many open and unresolved shit. Gives setting stuff and at least sets up a world reminiscent of s AC world.

Man give me a live action movie or a anime, hell even a short of this series.

>live action movie
with the record of animes getting a live action I dont recommend this.

A anime would be a nice, a serie of shorts could work for a military slice of life, showing the life of a raven in AC universe, could be focused on one pilot or each chapter a different one, going with their lives without involving themselve in any big war or obscure plans of the factions, just a merc earning his/her life.
>>
>>147971595
From the originals songs, Outcry is my favorite, I still listen to it a lot these days, Fall into the grace is another favorite with someone is always moving on the surface too. Good shit.

To be honest I'd almost quite like a CG movie, they wouldn't even need to show pilots. Do it in the same vein as the cutscenes, trailers and intros and it could work.

But stuff like Patlabor is critically acclaimed and that didn't exactly pander to weeaboos. It's probably the anime that is most comparable to AC anyway.

To be honest I'm fine with just ACs standing there looking dramatic while Ravens talk over the top or whatever.

>>
>>147982816
Just a question how can we know the NEXT that appears at the end is Strayed? he doesnt have a canon emblem like Anatolia's mercenary did on 4, or a NEXT we can identify like White Glint mkII, since he hasnt appear again in any game or side material (like discovering a rusted NEXT on something related to VD times and something confirms us "this is strayed NEXT")
>>
>>147982816
Is the "Strayed killing everthing" your vision of following destruction path or just him doing merc work?
>>
>>147983250
Just say that the different NEXTS that killed the others just happened to be the same pilot.

>>
>>147985701

>>
>>147986323
Not sure, maybe it's the fact that mecha just generally is declining in popularity. There's not exactly much of it being produced and then you get random garbage coming out and generally tarnishing the genre more.

I quite like the idea of a live action AC, there's no chance they'd have the budget or be willing to do it.

It's just f2p. The only objective problems it has that I've noticed so far (on console), is that it lags quite a bit at the beginning of matches, and that the Nief is quit an overpowered mech. The reasons these haven't kept me away though is because the matches tends to smooth out rather quickly, and the Nief is easily countered by several other mechs. The microtransactions are also cancerous, but that's what you get with f2p.

TV producers want tried and true formulas that will work for 4+ seasons. Especially since a lot of anime is still for children or shown specifically for/on anime networks.

There's just no point in taking risks on new ideas unless you can root them in 'relatable' content that is proven to get views.
>>
>>148171490
Why 2 over 3? Genuinely curious.
>>
>>148172227
3's story is shit and boring, and the gameplay improvements doesn't make up for the lack of memorable moments. I can think of 4-5 memorable missions from AC2 but barely a single one from 3.

I always thought the general opinion was that 2 was a superior game to experience, but 3 was just newer and with more content / less buggy.

One thing I do like 3 for is the vast amount of content. It probably has more single player content than any other AC game.

Silent line is a close second to 2, for me.
>>
>>148173123
Fair enough, my favourite is actually Nexus. I really like the amount of content in that and the changes from 3 never bothered me. LR a close 2nd

How do you guys deal with the awful latency for FA?

I know that only some weapons are going to be viable because of the lag, but when I do damage seems to be completely arbitrary. I can't "plan" a hit, it just happens or doesn't based on some mysterious netcode. How do you know you're actually going to hit the opponent vs just getting lucky?
>>
>>148176219
You learn to tolerate the latency, but it can get frustrating when you use a big hitting weapon like hi laser or grenades, you clearly see they connect but no damage is registered.
>>
>>148176536
I can't even hit with slug guns, machine guns, or rifles. The only time I seem to hit someone is when they're ignoring me and I sneak up on them from the side, and even then it's a crapshoot.

Most of my damage seems to come from shot spamming, too. I only hit when I don't try to hit, and I always miss when I think I've hit them.

Am I doing something seriously wrong that I can't even get reliable damage out of rifles? How does the netcode work so that I can actually know what's going to hit and what doesn't?

We are the same anon, machine guns usually hit, but the latency can make a lot of the bullets to no register the damage, slug guns is rare that they do 0 damage since is various pellets hitting at once, so SOMETHING has to make damage, after that is just practice on how to keep a target.

If you want and if you are free, we can have some matches right now.
>>
>>148177270
I'm comin in from Dark Souls PvP, so here's an example of what I mean:

At least in dark souls even if the latency is bad, you have an idea of what is going to hit and what isn't. There's "phantom range" so you know if someone threw out an attack, there's a good chance it will miss if you roll immediately, even if the attack doesn't 'connect' on your screen.

Likewise, if you throw out an attack while the opponent is ABLE to roll, you know that they're doing the same thing, so it will likely miss.

But ACFA doesn't seem to have any of that, it's pure chaos. Everyone is dodging and shooting non-stop and there's no real cost to dodge, so it seems to me that 90% of matches come down to bullet spam.

My biggest issues are with permaflight backpeddlers, who I can empty all of my ammo into and hit absolutely nothing, but they're somehow able to use GRENADES to knock me out of the air.

I don't mind the latency, I mind that every other player seems able to hit with grenades while I'm still struggling to hit with rifles.

>Likewise, if you throw out an attack while the opponent is ABLE to roll, you know that they're doing the same thing, so it will likely miss.

To further clarify: that means in Dark Souls, even if latency sucks, you know at least how to hit: Get the opponent in a situation where they can't dodge, or don't foresee the attack coming (such as attacking before their approach, or trading blows, or depleting their stamina).

But you can't do that in ACFA, you can't corner someone or deplete them of EN because everyone is permaflight and there's no real map.

So what's the secret? Do you just play super evasively and wait out the entire match until your opponent to rush at you like an idiot, or end up sitting still for a few seconds? That seems like the only strategy that makes sense to me, given what I've seen so far. It would also explain all the grenade kites I keep seeing

>Most of my damage seems to come from shot spamming, too.
And that's the secret to FA's meta. The biggest reason rifles are the weapons of choice is because they fire quickly, the deal noticeable damage, and they mostly have large ammo reserves. Most shots fired either miss or don't register, but that's okay, because you have hundreds more bullets at your disposal and that's enough to eventually kill someone.
And that's the answer to your question. You deal with it by continuing to shoot until it works.
Alternatively, you kill people with rockets.

I just don't get it anymore. I downloaded the "compatability pack 1" from the PS Store and the game still whines about needing said pack.
I deleted all game related content and reinstalled/downloaded everything and still am getting the same shit.

Is there some sort of region lock or something for certain PSN regions not being allowed online or having some new patch?

>>
>>148178834
>>148179393
So I did some more testing and figured a few things out:

There are four enemy positions to consider when aiming in FA:

A1. The enemy you see on your screen
A2. Where your FCS expects your enemy to be (leading)
B1. Where the enemy actually is on their screen
B2. Where the enemy will be when the shot lands

It's something like this, if they are moving toward the left:

<B2<<<A2<<<<<<B1<<<A1<

A is what you see on your screen, B is what the opponent sees on their screen. The distance between A1 and A2 (and B2 and B2) depends on how fast the opponent is and how slow your muzzle velocity is.

B2. B2 IS WHAT YOU WANT TO TRY TO HIT, even though it's invisible to you. So you want to hit B2, knowing your FCS is aiming at A2.

Why so many shots miss:

If the opponent changes direction between B1 and A2, your shot will miss (since they never arrived at B2, and your shot never hit B2)

If the opponent maintains direction from B1 to B2, your shot will miss (and hit A2, which is where your FCS is aiming).
>>
>>148253187
Therefore, here is a first draft of my unofficial guide to hitting people in FA online:

1. Get lucky. In this case, the opponent simply slows down or stops on their way to A2, and ends up only getting to B2. Shot hits. The slowdown after a high boost is where this works, or if they try to change direction without using high boost, or if they slow down while turning. Example: Rifle or machine gun spam

2. Shoot them as they move toward you. What happens then is your shot, aiming at A2, passes THROUGH point B2 on the way, hitting them on their screen. Example: Backpeddling Sapla

3. Use close range + high velocity weapons until A2 and B2 overlap. Faster weapons reduce lead distance, and if you reduce it enough, it doesn't matter that you're aiming slightly behind the opponent. This is not really reliable though, since you have to get really close and that makes it impossible to hit with low melee ability weapons (aka, high velocity). Example: Mid-close rail guns, BFF laser rifles

4. Use the above, but with larger hitbox weapons. I think some lasers (acrux, wing lasers) have larger hitboxes because they fire multiple shots simultaneously. A larger hitbox can overlap both A2 and B2 at the same time. Grenades also have noticeably beefy projectile sizes. Example: Backpeddling Sapla, dual wing cannons, spread bazookas

5. Use manual aim or explosives. If you can manually aim rockets at the ground where the opponent is vaguely going to be, you can cover a large enough area to hit B2. Example: Rockets, assault armor
>>
>>148250784
On closer inspection this is the same on every grenade based weapon.
I'm assuming it's because there's no way to get any of the regulations now.
Are the stats online anywhere or should I just check FA, write them down and hope they haven't changed too much?
>>
>>148256570
If you don't have the regulations, can you still play online?

If not, can you copy a save /game install file that does have the regulations from USB? Can someone host that?

Is this another PS3 thing? I did a fresh playthrough of AC4 on a new hard drive recently on the 360 and it downloaded everything up to regulation 1.60.
>>
>>148261360
Yeeep. EU PS3 is stuck in 1.00, the servers which distributed the regulations are down. Ridiculous really.
>>
>>148261545
Maybe that's why AC4 plays so much differently for me than the way you guys all describe it. I'll go back down to 1.00 next time I play and see if it feels any faster, because 1.60 feels like I'm flying a brick most of the time and I'm constantly running out of energy. Never had that problem in FA.

>>148235826

>>
Is there a reg 1.6 for 4A PS3?
>>
>>148263359
Probably not. The 1.6 I speak of is AC4 on the 360. As far as I know, FA only goes up to 1.4 on either console.
>>
>>148261957
FA is generally a lot faster. You have to sort of work at it to get permaflight in AC4, regardless of the regulations. But with FA permaflight is pretty much possible on every build.
>>
I was messing around in FA, and I noticed that going with a heavier generator doesn't seem to slow my AC down...

What's up with that?

Is it just frame and weapons that affect speed?
>>
>>148264104
Generators generally don't have enough weight to actually affect mobility. It technically increases your weight stat which slows you down, but it's such a small amount that it doesn't matter most of the time. Just put on whatever has the best output and capacity combination and ignore everything else.
>>
>>148263359

I can't even get up to 1.4. Ever since my first PS3 exploded, I've been stuck on the worst reg.

>>148261545 explains quite a bit.
>>
>>148265541
>doesn't have enough weight

Generators are extremely heavy though. They weigh more than my weapons combined. Lahire is something like 900 weight and Aaliyah is 2800 weight, each rifle is 500 weight.

And it's not like it makes me slower, but it's not noticeable. I mean the EXACT same top speed. The extra 2000 weight makes no impact on my speed, but even 500 weight of weapons makes a noticeable impact.

Even adding heavier generators drops my 'average speed' stat, but doesn't affect actual speed.

It's like generators are exempt from the total weight of your AC when it's in play

Mechwarrior. Specifically Mechwarrior Mercenaries (MW4: Mercs is the easiest to run on modern machines). The theme is somewhat similar to AC games, but instead of being some ace mercenary pilot soloing everything it's more about managing your merc company as a whole. So not only do you get the autism of tweaking your own mech, but you're assigning pilots to other mechs and tweaking their mechs and giving them orders in missions. The orders usually amount to just focus firing the strongest threats, but it's still pretty fun.

I always thought of Strayed as piloting the basic Aaliyah frame throughout the game that you get for choosing independent. The high-performance style gits an ace pilot, and the setup kinda mimics Joshua's in AC4. Blade, reliable gun, and EN back weapon. Maybe he switches the HITMAN for one of WG's rifles or the blade to MOONLIGHT, but it fits him that he just happened to acquire an old frame and made it work, energy consumption be damned.
>>
>>148388671
I'd argue it's far more versatile than the PS3 era games' creators. Also why not? Why spend time painting an AC to your own liking on the older games if nobody's going to see it by that logic.

I've got an relatively basic one I recreated across each generation of the PS2 games which took a while but it's nice to have in all its pixelated glory adorning your AC and in the garage.

>why is WG an old white guy
Anatolia's Merc is implied to be some sort of veteran ace pilot from the very beginning of AC4 (I think he was a Normal pilot before Nexts became such a widespread thing? They actually call him a Raven on several occasions). On top of that, he's called a fossil in March Au Supplice and I think he gets similar insults during other missions. On top of that, FA takes place I think 10-15 years after AC4.

Anatolia's Merc is a caveman compared to the other pilots around him. Wong Shao Lung is probably the only person older than him.

>>148398320
>Why did they give them young VAs when their so old?
I don't think Fiona is meant to be old in AC4, probably in her mid 20s. It's obvious that they wouldn't change the VA in FA just so you can still recognize the character.

Not familiar with Jormungand. Is the art from that show or is this AC fanart?

Who are all the characters here supposed to be?
>>
>>148398647
I think the reason they call him fossile and the like is because of his origins as Raven (normal pilot) trying to "fit" around the new kids with their new toys, despise that he kill half of the originals in 4 and nobody fight him alone on FA. he can be older than the rest of pilot, but no that old, but he still kick ass.

>>
>>148389160
It's versatile, but much more complex.

What they need is a .gif or .bmp converter.

I think the reason they changed emblem makers is because uploading whole image files to another player's PS3 every time you want to play online is actually really complex, so its easier to just upload them layer, position, and color data for decals, and use the PS3's native storage of the emblem maker files to compile the emblems. Sort of like how online play doesn't send the rendering data of the opponents AC, it just sends the position because that data is already stored on your PS3.

painting the AC doesn't really take as long as making a nice emblem, and it always makes sense because you yourself are always looking at your AC so of course you'll want it to meet your aesthetic needs.
emblems are more... well, "emblematic" of your avatar. they're kind of identifiers, at least online. like i'll always remember the guy in ninebreakers with the F-15 strike eagle emblem, that was badass. i'll also remember the faggot with the pony emblem. etc.
all these emblems take time to make if you want them to look nice. in vagrant guns sometimes we'd just spend hours making emblems if nobody was online, it was like a downtime period in the war, but you could still keep up with what was going on/chat with others at the same time. it was therapeutic which counteracted nicely against the PTSD-inducing nature of playing online sometimes.
i'm not saying i don't get why you'd make an emblem if nobody sees it, i did that too with the older games. i just didn't spend an extremely large amount of time on it.
now anime emblems on the other hand are something i'll NEVER get

So like, is PvE in ACVD all just against turrets and at best some Golems or whatever those tall tank things were?
>>
>>148464390
For sorties? Yep. Hope you like shooting stationary Chinooks as well.

The special sorties are the only time you see anything interesting, and they'll usually just wreck your shit in.
>>
>>148464646
So like the only time PvE is going to have AI controlled AC's and stuff against you is during story missions?
Those can be co-op played too, right?
>>
>>148464390
>>148464646
If you mean story then you go against ACs amongst other things later. They ease you into it.
>>
>>148464390
Bingo. If there's another team on, we might run into them and get a fight, but in the mean time it's just the chaff.
>>
>>148464950
Yeah, although sometimes you do stumble across a team of UNACs in PvP. But they're always commanded or accompanied by a player.
>>
>>148464961
>>148464982
>>148465097
Okay, nice to know. Maybe I should try tackling some more of those story missions sometime.

Realized that going in with an extremely ligh weight melee/CQC build in these missions is not okay for a beginner, looks like I'll be cheesing with my sniper tetrapod for the time being.
>>
>>148465284
Damage is based on a threshold system

Since most turret attacks don't do much damage then dropping your defenses below those thresholds (~700-1000) will increase your ap loss per hit by 4-5x higher
>>
>>148466273
>>148465284

So the tradeoff for going with a lightweight against smaller, lighter enemies is really bad, but the tradeoff against heavy-hitting slow enemies is really good.
>>
>>148465284
A decent tank can and will carry you throughout most the story, just don't expect to get those time bonuses on the longer missions
>>
>>148466713
A tank will get wrecked against the bigger bosses and the 2v1 order matches. Heavy biped is probably the safest bet.
>>
>>148466948
I cleared through all of them easily with a tank, the only fight I struggle with slightly is the shield ac and the sniper tank.

I like mech games. What ones would you guys recommend to me, outside of Armored Core?

Let's say for the sake of the discussion that I have all consoles. So there's no restrictions.
>>
>>148521254
MechAssault was fun back in the day.
MechWarrior series on PC, especially MW4 Mercs.

M.A.V. - Modular Assault Vehicle is Chromehounds but in Alpha and for PC.

HAWKEN when it isn't busy being DEAD AS FUCK, which it is pretty much all the time. ALso if you're cool playing CoD with mecha.

For some lighter mecha games on PC, there's Project Nimbus which is kinda fun and Strike Suit Zero, but that one is a bit far fetched. Neither have mecha customization at all and are just casual single player games.

Astebreed if you want a shmup.
Assault Suits series for side scroller.

These guys are on point. i'd recommend all their games. I'd also get Earth Defense Force and mmmmaybe Xenoblade X, if you're really, really desperate for robots. They're not bad games by any means, but they're definitely not for everyone. I just want a robot game where I can drive around in it. And From software isn't providing.
>>
>>148521254
The Gungriffon series and Brahma Force are two relatively unheard of fps mech games.
Omega Boost is sort of shmup but 3D
Steel Lancer Arena International is worth checking out as well.

>>148526448
Shame it takes so long to actually get a skell.
And EDF mileage varies depending on how much you can get out of the so bad it's almost good category, fun couch coop for a bit though.
>>
>>148526963
Of course if SLAI is discussed, Phantom Crash is also relevant.

You're right, forgot about that. Haven't broke out my original xbox in a while though.
>>
>>148527308
And on topic of Xbox, there's also Battle Engine Aquila. If you can live with the fucking horrific voice acting, it's a neat little where you stomp shit to death in a four legged mech that has, in my opinion, one of the best looking designs of all time.
Also available for PC and PS2.

But what they don't realize is that while a parody of Japan culture could be considered highly racist, a parody of American culture really isn't. Our national identity isn't so nearly tied up in culture and lifestyle that we would be offended by it,

Americans are a slut for laughing at themselves, look at SNL, Letterman, and the Colbert Report.

I think that MWC being hilarious to Americans was definitely not really intended as the goal.

in ACVD, is there any point in using railcannons instead of sniper cannons?
Despite the variable projectile velocity and so on, they seem to be, in my opinion, pretty much inferior to sniper cannons in terms of muzzle velocity and damage.
Maybe there is a need or use for a slower projectile, but I haven't come up with any uses for it yet.

Laser cannons are like sniper cannons but deal TE damage and have near instantaneous projectiles, right?

THIS INTERESTS ME
>>
Hi there. I'm playing the games in production order, and just started AC3. I looked at the pastebins and didn't see a specific answer, so I'm gonna ask those here:
- What is so broken about Heat in AC3? I saw it in that image showing all the games, but as far as I've seen, using a machinegun in the arena doesn't really seem that broken. Given, I've beaten everyone up to C-Class with the starting mech, but still...
- Is there any sort of trick _at all_ to reacquiring a target? I mean, a way to turn faster or so on? I know about the stats, but even with the best mobility legs, I still get into awkward "flying brick" moments, where the enemy AC zips past me and we spend a few seconds turning around to lock onto each other again. I know about boosting back and strafing opposite to the camera, but it that still leaves a lot to be desired.

And not a question, but fuck AC:AA's missions. 80 of the 90 missions have stuff that insta-fails the mission. The first "wat" moment in the series for me was when I used hover legs over water, and the AC sunk because I tried to use the back weapon. Nineball makes up for it, though.
>>
>>148640357
Try a flamethrower. You'll see what's broken about heat.

And not really no.
>>
>>148640789
I see.
I wonder, is there any use to heavy bipeds at all? They're good on ground missions without enemy ACs, but once you meet one that likes to jump around, say goodbye. I probably died 3 or 4 times to that 1st AC in the final mission of AC2:AA (it's not a hard AC at all, it just moves around a lot), because the thing turned really slow.

I don't know how can I like AA so much when I hate most of its missions. That one where you fight 3 ACs in the desert has tons of slowdown. I guess that's why you guys say it's a chore to go through.

Oh boy, prerelease day. Time to PTSD and RAGE all over some fags.
>>148633812
Don't start. No matter how good the premise, it's always going to devolve into something miserable at the hands of the fans. It happens a lot faster on /qst/ than it does on /tg/, which is horrifying.
But then again, when you hit something good, it's nice to remember what it was like before it was ruined.
RIP SWQ
>>148640357
In 3, overheating makes you lose about a third of your AP. Depending on the AC you're fighting, you could make them lose even more.
On top of this, the left hand flamethrower, although it can't lock on independently, it will follow your right hand weapon's lock.
I think there's an extension that enables a quick turn for a bit of energy.
>>148615053
He's super dope.

Rail cannons are KE damage Laser cannons. They do more damage against tanks and CE stacked heavy bipeds than laser cannons do. Think of it that way. 5000 KE damage against a tank hurts a lot more than 8000 TE damage.

When power tuned, they also give more reliable/accurate stun than regular KE cannons, at the cost of not being able to stunlock as easily.

When accuracy tuned, Rail Cannons basically operate as a KE laser cannon.
>>
>>148640357
Wait until you unlock the heat-specific rifles and machine guns.

Turning isn't the only way to keep track of your opponent. If your opponent is behind you, facing your back, you don't have to turn around, you can just boost backwards at an angle and they will turn toward you. Check out this video:

https://youtu.be/qWQ5Ygoa8ZM?t=26s

Notice how when he loses lock on, instead of turning to face his opponent he swipes around into a new position? You can get behind AI more easily faking them out like that then by out-turning them. In this video his legs turn noticably slower than the opponent, who also has perfect tracking.

Though, keep in mind, from 1:22 on the opponent's legs were damaged so that slowed his turning. Before that point though, it's legit.
>>
>>148641173
Heavy bipeds are about DPS trading. Slap a machine gun or two on one and you can tank heavy hits all day long and keep a constant string of fire on the enemy. Using a heavyweight with a big slow heavy weapon is begging to be out maneuvered. They need wide lock ranges and light weapons.
>>
>>148643871
AC2:AA onwards has single analog, Nexus onwards has dual analog.

I would just us the D-PAD and symbol buttons in place of the analog sticks for other games.>>148644407
>>
>>148644407
Not true, almost all games from AC2 on had 8 directional camera movement. You have to press 2 directions at the same time to go diagonal. The second analog stick in Nexus doesn't change that, pushing diagonally on it acts the same as pushing two buttons (turn + up, for example) in AC3.

4 was the first game with true right analog support.
>>
>>148622448
Rail cannons kinda just suck out loud. They're a very niche weapon, with very few reasonable uses. There was a few methods in ACV, where use of dual rail cannons, combined with certain missiles, could stunlock a good number of builds, but since stagger means fuckall in ACV to anything that isn't a light/light-med biped, that's not really a thing anymore.

Rail cannons could be useful, if their muzzle wasn't garbage. They have among the highest effective ranges in the game, but nowhere near enough muzzle to hit anything past about 300m reliably. As such, you probably shouldn't use them for anything past that range. You can make them work, but don't expect amazing results. If you want high KE damage output, a HEAT cannon with an autocannon (any tuning, really) will shred the shit out of just about anything heavy.

A long time ago, I tried to pair one with a laser cannon, to account for shields. But, honestly, ACC tuned autocannon does a much better job at handling TE shields, because DPS, and a more reliable hit rate.
>>
>>148662562
Truth be told, almost no weapons in ACVD can hit past 300m reliably. Accuracy tuned lasers and snipers, basically, and nothing else.
