Demon's Souls and Bloodborned were considerably better and more creative than any of the souls games and Studio Japan is the outlier element here that is common to both of them. Studio Japan definetly helps, but I honestly think it's because Sony is a better publisher than Bamco, they definetly treated Bloodborne with more respect than Dark "how many chicken wings can you eat" Souls 3.

And a director is very important, they might not physically do everything, but it's thier vision and they are the ones telling people what to do and either ok'ing stuff (new idea's from other people included) or deciding that something isn't right.

I'm 99% certain that Myazaki's involvement in DaS3 was significantly less than DeS, DaS1 and BB simplify by virtue of it being damn near impossible to be doing both at the same time. My theory is Bandai Namco just made sure they mentioned him directing at every oppurtinity because of feedback from DaS2.

Myazaki personally drew the level design maps for every area in Bloodborne (I guess he did Byrgonwerth at 4:50pm on a Friday), so his presance is pretty important.

I'm pretty sure Studio Japan doesn't have much creative imput, they are basically just Sony's internal developers that help make-up manpower for exclusives. Pure STR is great fun, you whack people with the Axe until you kill Cleric Beast, then smash everyone with the hammer up to Amelia, then go into the DLC and get Beast Cutter, Whirligig and Amy Arm. You get so many options for fun (and powerful) weapons. Only downsides are no real options for ranged damage, although BMA'd Repeater or Cannon will work fine for emergencies and Viscerals suck ass (again, a BMA'd cannon will obliterate a boss if you shoot them instead of visceralling).

Did From really think anyone would want to do them? There would have been no harm in allowing any Lost/Uncanny weapon to be found in any Depth, the only reason anyone would want to do Depth 1-4 Chalice's (apart from being required to get to the good stuff) is wanted powerful gems early game (or in the case of Arcane, nesisary gems).

Speaking of gems, I also somehow got a Cursed Adept gem from a Watcher who was guarding a Lever, which I didn't think was possible, it would have been great on my STR low level character, but alas I found it on my low BLT character.

Yeah, I've never really found a use for it either.

Except for Right-handed parries to follow up with blowing people into next week with the cannon. But that's a stratedgy that requires an unoptimised build and is only worth doing on parryable Bosses and other players you want to overkill for fun.

It's also cool to spam R2/L2 while holding tricked Reiter and Evelyn wearing Yharnam hunter garb to feel like a Gunslinging Cowboy. If you go full Korea and farm 3 offshape gems it's also by far the most powerful single shot gun.

It's quite situational and takes some getting used to. The trick shot is great for parries and looks cool as fuck. Suitable for honor duels where you want to whittle away the opponent's health through light pokes and evasions. The tricked R1 has a nice spam as well.
