About who's better mage - Triss or Yen:

Triss is a LOT younger and less experienced. A lot of other mages patronize her and she isnt recognized as a powerful mage (I think that moment in the Last Wish when she makes a Blizzard is an exception - and also effect of very strong emotions and change in her character, which was rather cowardly up until this moment)

Yennefer is widely recognized and respected as a mage of great renown, She's also rich as fuck. She can make living beings from thin air, and creatiom is hardest form of magic in that universe.

Just summoning a djinni is a sign of great power and she WOULD gain control of it, if not for the thing with Geralt's wish - she couldnt trap a djinni which wasnt free.

Also - charming a Witcher is not something any mage can do, that's VERY emphasized in the book.

Also, both Triss and Yen fought in the battle of Sodden, Yen lost her eyesight, Triss lost her hair.

Also you have to understand that in Witcher's universe a mage is very powerful being compared to normal people, but they rarely take part in fights, they're mostly egoistic and attached to their immortality, so there is no "battle magic" per se.

And Kings actually prefer siege engines to mages, as mage can blow the city gate in an instant, he also a lot harder to get along with.

They want Ciri because they can use her in the same way they used the Unicorns. If they get her, they WILL invade Geralt's world and probably other places too.
