You could also go the route of having crafters levelled so you can just make your own prisms, but to be truly independent needs something like 50 weaver (bikinis), 50 leatherworker (emperor's new gloves/boots), a level 26? DoW/DoM retainer for gigantoad skins, and level 15 or so miner for alumen.

Sadly yes. It is one of the worst problems in the game and it has created a housing crisis on most servers. You can try the ffxiv housing market subreddit. Alternatively, you can wait until 3.35 when they re-activate the auto-demolish system but you will have to wait 45 days.

It might be, it sucks because you can try selling it to someone but on a low pop server where housing is available I doubt it. Keep in mind when you transfer your individual character can only bring over 1m gil. You can spread it over 8 different characters though.
