I knew the game was supposed to hit hard in the feels so I just assumed every character was going to die at some point so I never got attached to any of them in my true pacifist play through.
Apparently the genocide route bosses were really difficult and I am a sucker for challenging boss fights so I tried it immediately after TP. When I fought Toriel and Papyrus I was eager for a challenging fight and I was more disappointed than sad.
