is there anyway to make collecting mats in this game not fucking horrible? I am trying to focus on getting my crafting discipline at least up to the point where I can make my level 15 armor, and it has been a nightmare. I'm trying to do crafting writs and I have zero materials left and I have no idea where to buy materials (like jute and maple) so I'm forced to hope that i run across a node after 30 minutes of dicking around in the world. Then I have to empty my inventory in my super limited bank and then run all the way over to the crafting stations only to get a cup of piss for experience and then I still don't complete the writ! There has to be an easier way to do this bullshit.

Eventually when you and your alts max out your crafting you just log in and collect small amounts of mats in the mail that stockpile up over the days.

You can try guild traders but raw mats can be pricey as people process stacks of them for the temper materials.

Otherwise, your best option is to break down trash gear you find instead of vendoring it. Only hold onto it if it has a trait you want to research, otherwise, break it down for craft experience and mats.

Breaking down gear levels crafting FAR faster than crafting new items, btw.

I've been playing eso for about a week and my initial impressions are mixed. Maybe it gets better later.

I love:
the progression system, the combat, questing, a lot of the mechanics, and playing with my friend.

I am neutral:
the world and environments. They can be pretty at times but feel pretty generic.

I hate:
The crafting system (especially coming from gw2. I hate crafting systems in most games, but this has like zero quality of life). A lot of repeat structures making towns look the same. How mounts work and the progression system tied to them. How bland a lot of the quests can be. How a lot of shit is just locked behind a grind wall (like the mage's guild collectathon). The general lack of quality of life in many aspects of the game and how poorly a lot of it is explained. How everything seems to encourage you to buy premium or spend real world money (my buddy and I have played for the same amount of time and he has purchased the subscription and he is in a totally different part of the game because of how much faster everything is for him).

I really want to love this game, but the time wasting bullshit is really dragging me down.

No what we're telling you to do is to not be retarded and try to level crafting by crafting new gear. That is by far the most inefficient way to level any craft but provisioning and alchemy (which you DO level by creating new potions/cooking food)

If you want, sure, do the writs once a day on one character at a time (trying to do them on multiple characters at a time will absolutely run you dry of mats), but breaking down items you get from questing and exploring is going to be the most stress free way to level all gear making crafts.

basically, to elaborate on what I said. Rather than go out of my way to try and locate all the bullshit mats I need to finish the writs. Instead, just continue adventuring and playing the game, and at the end come back and deconstruct my items for experience and then if I have the mats I need, use those for completing writs.

Compare this to GW2. If you want to start leveling crafting, you set aside certain amount of gold, buy all the mats you need off the trading post, and then powerlevel the crafting discipline in under an hour.

Coming from GW2, I was looking at crafting as something to powerlevel. But it seems like that isn't as easy.

See, I love the crafting. Crafters who actually take out the time to make sure they research and collect motifs (especially rare ones) and can access all the set crafting stations in the game have VALUE.

When it's something like GW2.. nobody cares about someone who's a 500 crafter in a craft, because EVERYONE is a 500 crafter in EVERY craft (unless it's chef or jeweler, then it's 400)

No, you're not going to powerlevel crafting on your first character.

On subsequent characters when you have surpluses of say, Tier 6-9 mats and you're champion level 160 so Tier 6-9 are worthless, you can craft a bunch of shit and send it to an alt to break down (breaking down something that you looted or someone else crafted provides far far more xp than breaking down your own work) and you can level crafts really fast that way.

Crafting takes effort in this game.

At level 15 you should be doing fine in dropped gear. If you try to put enough points into the three equipment crafts to be able to craft your own gear and be efficient about it, you will find yourself scraping for skill points and still not be able to craft the sets you want for the set bonuses.
If you have skill points to spare for crafting, you would be better off spending them to speed up research and to make your refining more efficient to start collecting rare tempers for later on.

listen. stop. Don't let this shit overwhelm you. You are too early in the game for this shit to even be an issue for you. At the point you are at in the game, you can basically just gear up based on drops and buying from merchants and be fine.

The way you want to approach this is to ignore writs and crafting gear (unless actually have the stuff for it without going out of your way). Instead, just play the game normally and wear the best armor you find (you might even mix it up between heavy and light if you want). And take home the rest and deconstruct it.

Basically, rather than focusing on crafting stuff as you level, just deconstruct and research items you find while questing and keep all the mats you find in the bank. Then invest in a few perks in the crafting here and there as you have skill points to waste. What will end up happening, is by the time you start approaching end game, your crafting will have naturally leveld up a lot and you'll have stockpiled a lot of resources. This is the point of the game you will also have access to a lot more stuff. At this point, you can start focusing on finishing off your desired crafting disciplines, really speccing into them, and building your gear.

I really disagree with people that try to frontload everything in the game on people that are just coming to grips with everything. Yes, this game has shit quality of life and for alot of people (including myself) that's a problem (but it really is a matter of perspective). That's why you don't really even bother with building gear until you are higher enough level and you have more resources and you are more familiar with how the game works. For now, as you level, just gear out your character with what you find and deconstruct the rest.

As some people have already said. Crafting in this game is supposed to be a special discipline that takes months. By the time you reach end game, is when it will really start to become a thing that you actively do.

I bought it for 30 bucks. The subscription is optional, but it opens up the dlc and makes everything just enough faster for it to be noticeable. I recommend it, but go in with low expectations. It has good combat and questing, and feels like a poor man's oblivion that you get to play with friends (and for the price it's worth it). so if you're doing that for sure don't be sinking points into your crafting lines for awhile, or it'll be frustrating when you want to morph new skills and don't have points. Just deconstruct, research (get research assistant addon), if you absolutely must, put points into the skills that enable you to research more than 1 item at a time and decrease research times. Start putting points into crafting when you hit veteran areas and your main combat skills are all leveled and morphed the way you want them.

In a game with a justice system do you really think the guards would just let people fight in the streets?

If they absolutely must have dueling in the game and not quarantined to an arena, make it a fucking crime so that every time NPC's witness players fighting they rack up a bounty on every fucking hit. Then a patrolling guard will come take their gold.

That'll drive them away from the cities at least.

New player here, I've got a couple of questions: I've been playing Stam DK and NB to about lvl 15 and having fun with both of them, however I have noticed they play very, very similarly so far. Do things change sufficiently to be worth lvling them both or should I just focus on one (which will be hard, I like both!).

Secondly, I've been using 2 handers grinding mobs and charge is great going from mob to mob quickly, but there is no aoe (which I'm told is the best way to grind). That's the "assassin" personality that comes with DB DLC. The next patch will introduce a "drunk" personality that will similarly alter some emotes and also your walk and stance like the assassin personality does. There will also be 3 mood personalities, a happy, a sad, and an angry, as far as I know those ones don't affect emotes but they do affect your posture when you are standing. The drunk and 3 mood personalities will be in the crown store unconnected to any DLC.

They're also going to be selling some new hairstyles, a few new facial hair options (or facial spines/crests if you're argonian), eyelash options for females, and a pack of all the current hairstyles in one bundle.

These will be in your collections tab, and you can change between any hairstyle you own there at will, so this is kind of their "barber shop" workaround. Yeah it costs crowns but only once for your entire account. Then you can change hairstyles as often as you want free of charge. Can't change color though, that requires an appearance change token.

it's a bit different now because of the addition of a 4th tier of the research passive that speeds it up further and caps it at 30 days.per trait, also 10% faster from subscription... but then again, addition of a 9th trait.

So someone with two pets and bound armament would thanks to Expert Summoner have 24% more health and 30% health and stamina recovery. And you're still gonna have to make sure the Strike-Force Retard you've summoned don't go and kill themselves.

BTW, people keep saying that those thieves guild quest containers with the bahara's curse set have their level determined when you receive them? Nope. The level is determined by when you open them. So people talk about the AD having the best quests and while yes they do have some really good one off quests in AD. I think I like that DC's characters are more "permanent" in the world. I mean, each alliance has a few characters that travel with you from zone to zone. In AD it's the Queen, Razum-Dar, Cariel (the bosmer qt eye of the queen), and Lord Gharesh-ri, Telenger, Andewen, and Captain Jimila, but the only ones you see outside of the AD questing zones... are Telenger (in Coldharbor), and Captain Jimila (in Anvil).

EP has the Vanos siblings (who show up everywhere), the Romori brothers (who are just in a few EP areas and Coldharbor), Naryu Virian (who turns up in Gold Coast thankfully), Holgunn and Walks-In-Ash who are just in most the EP areas and Coldharbor. So a few characters who turn up more than just in their own zones.

But DC? There's like, an entire crew (the makeshift crew of the Spearhead) that shows up in every zone, and you still run into Crafty Lerisa out of DC zones. There's even this whole drama story about the crew breaking up and scattering to the winds (yet still in the same towns as each other as you go from port to port) as you talk to them, partially dependent on your choice in Betnikh, Gabrielle Benele, and Darien Gautier, who aren't just like literal who's but are like, in your main assault team in Coldharbor, you continue to run into (and meet Gabrielle's sister in Craglorn), Skordo the Knife pops up in Orsinium, he was also a part of the final assault in Coldharbor, you first met him in Rivenspire.

It just feels like the characters in DC are more worldly and travel more, where the characters in AD in particular vanish off the face of the earth and are never heard from again once you're done with the initial run of quests in their zones.

After now having played through all of them, I actually prefer the DC quests nowadays. I think the issue is that Glenumbra starts out a little boring and the Wayrest environment strikes people as more of the same. To me DC had more memorable characters overall as I only really remember Raz from the AD area. I also enjoyed the fact that you seem to run into DC characters more frequently out in other zones.

Rivenspire has the best zone questline in the game by far IMO. Most other questlines would've been a lot better if we knew more about the villians than "is evil and wants power to be more evil" or the quests would have been more connected (looking at you, Greenshade).

Does managing magicka get significantly easier with high level potions, food and gear or something?

I see people fight and tank and heal for 5 minutes straight in PvP and PvE and yet when I do even the easiest PvE i'm always resorting to light and heavy attacks because I can't use abilities or heal anymore. I don't even really spam them and I try to pace myself, and yet I still find myself having to light/heavy attack for a few seconds or else ill be doing nothing for seconds.

Resto Staff users get magicka back by doing heavy attacks. Also this heals a target upon completing a heavy attack.

Yes. Passives too.

On my stamblade I started out gassed after killing two trash mobs but by level 40 or so I was essentially a perpetual motion machine of attacks.

Just bought the game for PS4 the other day. I never played Skyrim but everyone I've met who's played this game hated it because they thought it wss gonna play like Skyrim. Luckily I don't fall in that category but I have played MMOs in the past and enjoyed playing a Paladin. It seems like Templars are like.paldadins. can anyone direct me to a viable temple guide I could follow? Looking for it to be based around a PVP build as that's what I'm interested in doing in the game. From what I understand i should be putting all.my points in magicka (I'm.only.level 2) but after that I have no idea what skills to.level up or anything so a guide would be great. There's a few on YouTube but I'm.not sure which one is ideal. Thank you guys.

They still offer an alternative to someone rather than using in game currency though. Regardless of whether they're a noob trap. Additionally purchasing the craft mats would still mean either a) they need the traits researched to be able to craft what they want (or know/pay someone who has them) and b) have the rubedite/rubedo/ancestor silk on them. Additionally they'd still only be restricted to the craftable sets.

I should point out that I don't necessarily agree with it either but Zeni have shown that they won't necessarily be above doing it as they're not above putting consumable shit on the jewstore.

Couldn't agree more. They're fairly expensive but it's complete bullshit you can just buy them. I've heard people argue that it's not a big deal because crafter have access to the motifs a whole update before it gets released in the crown store but who the fuck completes one of the rarer motifs in just 1-2 months? Someone who plays the game normally won't and the ones grinding the motifs aren't using them but selling them.

I don't give a fuck about the motifs as long as they're stifled enough before going on the store. If they went on the moment they're out then that's bullshit but I don't really give a fuck if someone wants to throw their money away on buying a motif months after it's been around.

Ultimately it's part and parcel of the fact that Zeni decided to drop the sub model. It's also why I expect them to eventually sell gold (or something that can be traded for it) or some shit.

I think they're best played in Thieves Guild and Imperial City whenever you want, Orsinium after you've done the main quest and Cadwell's gold and silver, and Dark Brotherhood after Orsinium, due to them taking place after each other.

Oh and if you're planning on subbing due to the DLC's, I wouldn't recommend doing it before you've done all the free content in all zones (excluding Craglorn), unless you like the PvP, then it can be worth it to get Imperial City.

Another idea could be to buy Imperial City and get a months sub after you've played the rest of the game to get access to the rest of the DLC's.

I think they're great, what you see is what you get. If you like orsimers and get a boner over getting to know orsimer burial rituals Orsinium is totally worth it.

All DLCs are 160CP. But yeah you can do them at any level, expect IC which requires lvl 10. Your stats and gear will be scaled to 160CP.
