If I have a hand weapon in elona, which stats apply to ranged weapon's damage? EX, which stats on this weapon would apply to ranged damage? I can assume that the 3d3 does not apply but I'm wondering if the +5 hit, the +5 damage, the ####+ critical rate, et cetera, apply to ranged as well. I know the Eye of Mind will because it's a passive skill and not a modifier like the others. What about a weapon like Black Monkshood with +nerve and +poison damage, how is their application handled? Monster golems in general are basically monster maulers, yes. The main advantage they have over regular maulers is their intrinsic attack which you can rely on instead of being stiffed for weapons through a big chunk of the game. The disadvantage is they lack pretty much all of the cool powers maulers get, though they end up with a bunch of nice intrinsic resists and such.

In PCB/Nethack, you gain proficiency when you hit enemies, but you have a skill cap based on class. In PCB you have to hit enemies of a certain level to train skills past a certain rank.
In DCSS it's based on the skill you are training.

rF/rC/rN are all imporant as a first pip (and later, every pip of rN is very important), with rN being the least important early. rElec is extremely nice to have since it'll stop you from burning resist pots, and rPois is very nice to have if you're still in the 3 rune portion of the game. rCorr is ok and the rMut is really nice even if it isn't necessary. MR+ is obviously good. You cover literally every single base by using your head slot on hat, when the best nonartifact head slot item is a +2 helmet of intelligence/sInv or +2 hat of MR/spirit shield. No using your ring slots of resists. No wearing a cloak of rPois over invis. You're free to wear any armour you want vs. a base item with rF. It frees every slot at the cost of -2 AC (in reality -4). Really dumb item. Bear spirit is just as dumb, but only because it gives you double MR pips and rN.

I hate setting up dev environments for myself (esp in windows, most rl devs use linux, and cannot help or write outdated help (which points you in the wrong way). So im not going to be able to help you. Esp as it would just involve me telling you what to do, you misunderstanding me etc.

The only help I can give is to look at the forums for the band variant, or just angband, and see if they have help to let you compile it.

And yes, the first time will take some time, is a lot of work, but the end result will feel good.

He has been rebalanced so many times that I really don't know how good he is. The decks provide a lot of crazy utility. He gifts on exploration now, which is a nice change since I was never a fan of sacrificing stuff. I seem to get 1 or 2 decks every full floor.
