Because It's an unregulated, lawless land with no form of authority or foundation. It's also a highly popular venue, a gold rush if you will, so it's always crawling with people trying to capitalize on it and ride it into fame or fortune. Since there is no regulation everyone is always trying to become that authority and control this gold mine, so enters power struggles and shit flinging. It's a really shapeless, fluid grey area and the drama unfolds when people try to shape it into their own, see ftb vs technic, lex and forge vs everything else etc, there is always someone trying to control the modding scene. If we had a central authority, or modding api like what mojang has failed to supply, simple foundation, rules, direction, we could avoid 90% of this modding drama.

I want to play a server, but I'm not sure what to go with. I've always preferred a simple rustic/industrial style of playing (read: I don't do the sprawling 100x100 bases of useless shit, I am happy with a 16x16 in the side of a mountain) but that's boring when you're doing it in a single player world.

It's honestly easier than it seems. As long as you hard power the block directly behind it (read: repeater going into the block) it will only turn on the lamp in front of it. If you hard power the lamp itself, you will power the lamps above/below it.

Alternatively, if it's for a flush design, you can power the block directly to the side of the lamp, provided that it's a solid opaque block.

Doku is my go-to Resource Pack for comfy feels.

I've been trying to get a modded pack to mesh with all the added textures with it, but a lot of the GUI's seem to clash and NEI throws a shitfit quite often.

Plus it's a pack where I've put:

>ZERO magic mods. Not even tech mods disguised as magic mods. Not even EE or their ilk.
>NO "Higher Tech": No AE, No Tesseracts, No Teleporters (I think), No Industrialcraft, No Draconic Evolution

See if you can't fix that advanced alchemical furnace as well, last time I tried it alembics simply wouldn't connect to it no matter what, and what's even weirder is that someone on the same server managed to get it working without any problems at all. The overchanter also tens to spam the fuck out of the console log so try looking into that, if possible.
The anvils and alchemy recipes are alright, and I've never tried the campfires or the sideways elevator.

I can see what you mean about the alembic, but it appears to just be a visual bug - it functions fine. I'm not seeing any code that should tell it to do otherwise, just it extending the TC alch furnace class and speeding up with alumentum.
As for the overchanter, I'm not seeing any spam in the dev console, so it could be a mod interaction. It /is/ however, a bit fucky if you try and use it in creative though because it can't detect a valid player to take xp from or something.

It's really not that labor intensive at all. It costs like 8 essentia to spawn 4 mobs. Just set up an alchemical furnace and alembic, dump the required item into the furnace and void out everything else.

I set up an Endershard farm in The End once using a Wrath Cage. With a looting sword, it was totally possible to fuel the Cage with just the dropped Ender Pearls.

It's basically a powered spawner, but with essentia instead of RF.

Nah, for Wither Skells the Automagy Nethermind is the most reliable option.

I mean yeah you could just hunt down spawners from the overworld, but Wrath Cage is just faster and more precise. Naturally-occurring Enderman spawners can't be all that common unless you have Roguelike installed and even then it's a pain in the ass lugging those spawners out. I can also think of a few Twilight Forest and GoG mobs that don't have physical spawners but still have useful drops.

Another advantage of the Wrath Cage is that you can just cut off the essentia to turn it off.

There are drawbacks and disadvantages to every different system, every mod.
Each is done differently.
The only one to avoid is the thermal series, whose only attraction is the cryo-stabalized fluxducts, which can be countered with the lasers from that jap laser mod, and viaducts, which let you make new new york.

Here's the thing: even if they have different pros and cons, they still do the same things. Cabinets, caches, barrels... the thousand different types of tubes and pipes... "oh look yet another ore duplication system"...

And it's often hard to avoid. For example, would you remove Thaumcraft just because of the Infernal Furnace being all the same with other mods? I wouldn't.

Regarding Thermal Expansion, I've played it a lot as soon as Eloraam went out of businesses. It was a nice RP2 replacement. But it's bloated as fuck, it replaces fun mechanics (as the cobble generators) with magic blocks (like the igneous extruder), this kind of thing.

I'm currently running a kitchen sink modpack with a million different tube systems, ore duplication systems, and everything.

It is nice in that I don't have to make a new mod pack anytime I want to try something different.

My current theme is visual motion and big machines. Mostly focused on minecarts and conveyor belts. But I still have thermal expansion installed, I just haven't built anything with it yet.

This is the design I use for cobble generation on every world since 2012. It allows for easy automated breaking and collection IMO. There are a ton of other designs that can fit more any need.

I also like it because it looks like a giant stone golem getting a boner.

It sucks, though. Slow output, no efficient space usage, burrowed chest... then we would tweak the design to produce it faster and in a more convenient way.

Now, compare it with the Igneous Extruder. There are no interesting choices to make, you just put a machine and a chest somewhere, fill it with lava and water, and it does it job with no player design.

This is because Thermal Expansion puts performance above everything, including gameplay, and cobble generators using block breakers were historically quite laggy. That earned it the reputation it now has, I guess.

The way I see it, as long as something requires power, and that power is supplied by a balanced amount of fuel, it's not magic. Aqueous accumulators just do the same thing a 2x2 pool of water does, and the extruder just does what lava and cobble already do, it even eats the ingredients properly.

The one thing that you have to remember with AE2 in specific is that when you make a subnetwork (notably with the interface/storage bus trick) the subnet can't see what's on the main network. So connecting a crafting network to the main network (Possibly with the use of a P2P Tunnel) the crafting area can see everything on the main net. If you put your storage on a buffered subnet, you can defer a lot of the requirements for cables and free up your controller.

If you set up a 5x5x5 controller you can fill the interior with p2p base connections for days, and then just string your p2p subnetworks along a single dense line. You can get so many channels out of a single root line it's not even funny. P2p is an amazing function.

Did you craft a manual with a book + a lever? It explains most everything.

The excavator and conveyor belts are from IE. The windmill needs to plug into the front of a kinetic dynamo. The blast furnace is made by just crafting some blast bricks, building a 3x3 of said bricks then clicking on it with the engineer's hammer. IE has pretty decent early game progression.

My current world has only Thermal Expansion oregen turned on, no other oregen modifications. I've found probably 5 natural diamond ore blocks in several strip mining runs. The world is like 3 real life weeks old.

I've taken to figuring out how pneumatic craft works just to turn 64 blocks of coal into 8 diamonds for my long term diamond supply. I still only have about 15 diamonds to my name.

I have a feeling like this mod pack will never go anywhere if it is that rare.

Well I should clarify: as rare as diamond on most of the map. You can unlock the location of "ore caches" where it is much more common once you discover the at least one if each of the six tech ores on your own.

Also there's a system where you can buy ingots from The Jaded if you get in a bind by spending reputation.

In addition there are alien metals that spawn very commonly in the different biomes and they make great substitutes for the purpose of tools.

It's pretty well balanced.

Luckily iron is not rare, about as common as vanilla so I've got plenty. The copper for the wires and other components is the bottleneck but I think it's still pretty balanced considering it's a mod the pack wasn't designed to have.

I was hesitant to join first as well, but I'm glad I did. I see some familiar faces from back in the day here as well. Considering the amount of people and the shit they do the serb is very stable. Fantastic. Last server owner I worked under was a fantastic young mind that could basically fix ANYTHING, given obfuscated code. We ran a super hack-fit version of WorldGuard that could be edited on the fly, and could also guard against things like Computercraft Turtles, Buildcraft Quarries, and other things. One of the nastiest bugs that we couldn't pin down was the Vajra Dupe bug, though it was so uncommonly known that we just decided to just nix the Vajra in case of it being a problem. Draconic Evolution has the supertool anyways that did not have this issue.

Since I see construction vehicles, then that should start with roads and buildings. Most structures near ports are a crane to move cargo around, a handful of warehouses to store said cargo, and, depending on whether said port can also receive passengers, a small inn where people can stay before leaving the port.
