So I recently started playing again for the first time since January, and I cannot find a group anywhere. I'm 315 light but now everyone and their mother requires 320 minimum, and I cannot find anything that high. Tips? Ever run the raid with lower light people? Should I just give up?

it gives you more accuracy. no one really knows what accuracy means, its probably a combination of a few stats/things like weapon bloom or aim assist. its 4 seconds, the timer shows up on the left hand side when you switch to a weapon that has it active.

Run Axion Bolt and the Ram. Tier 2 Intellect, rest in DISC/STR. Use a MIDA and a good shotgun. Use Surge as your melee, so Ram gives you health and bonus armor and surge gives you more speed/weapon handling as well. I don't use blink but if you like it, fine. I generally run with mid armor, high recovery and mid agility. MIDA makes you able to shotgun rush if you need with Lightweight active. Use your grenades to lock off areas, then rush or flank to finish them off. Use your super when you got it, don't worry so much about getting big multi-kills, maybe save it for a bladedancer or something as shut down. You'll have speed so use it. Don't over engage and rush into bad spots. MIDA gives great flexibility and your class is good for distance as well as CQC.

But that entire concept goes against any notion of weapon diversity. The raid weapons are good in the raid (or they would be if other options didn't exist in a lot of cases) because they have Cocoon. Every boss fight is centered around DPS windows so that perk makes sense and is perfect for the Raid and stuff like Strikes when on a heavy or secondary. The armor also gives benefits for parts of the raid like jumping while running or while in the presence of an aura; again being focused on the Raid itself. Trials (adept guns at least) have Last Resort innately. You can argue pretty well that the perk isn't great, but it's an entirely PvP focused ability at its fundamental level, even being 3v3 specific at a certain extent. The weapons also pretty well in the meta, or at least have the possibility of doing well when compared to stuff like Vendor items. Water Star isn't a Hawkmoon but its viable. Maybe the shotgun is lacking but that's probably because Bungie wants to gut the range on those and wants more CQC encounters in general with shotguns.

If it was all "raid gear or be fucked" it'd be boring as hell. There's no variety in that.

Not everyone has a god roll Grasp, not everyone has a god roll Longbow, etc. Good options exist in that meta but the best of the best is harder to come by. You can't balance a game like this mostly because of the classes. They're too wildly different for the most part, meaning weapon "balance" is all you've got.

That's literally how every RPG ever works, having RNG be the decider on who gets what is fucking retarded, it promotes afking, dropping the game, and no endgame at all

Take WoW for example, shit on it if you want, but seeing other players in full raid/pvp season set is what drove me to play better and I worked towards getting those things too

Worse players have incentive to do better, but extremely little chances cause the players that are already better now that the additional advantage of better equipment. Meaning players who want to step up may be able to reach that level of skill, but are still beat easily cause people still have the better gear.

I think the biggest most significant change would be to the light level system though. Now when you infuse something, it simply gets boosted to the level of the item instead of half of it.

So lets say everyone has the same chance of getting the item, right? For example in in crucible you have 6 people on a team. well treat that team scoreboard as a multiplier list.

So the last guy would have the x1.0 chance of getting the items.
The fifth guy would be x1.25 chance.
The fourth guy would be x1.5 chance.
The third guy would be x1.75 chance.
The second guy would be x2.0 chance.
And the top guy would be x2.25 chance.

So everyone still has the chance at the loot, but you still feel like you're being rewarded for doing better in any particular match. And with this game's shit RNG that 1.0 chance for the lowest guy and 2.25 chance for the best performing guy is essentially negligible difference, but it still gives the sense of accomplishment when you do better.
