Mordekaiser's problem is that he's ALL damage. He has no cc, no mobility, next to no utility, no range, and no outplay potential or depth. He's just a giant box of damage, combined with a passive that is directly proportional damage mitigation equal to damage output. Seriously Iron Man is one of the top 5 passives in the game.

So, Mordekaiser's play pattern makes him the most feast or famine champion in the game. If he's ahead, he's both unkillable and has the highest damage output in the game, if he's behind or even if he's even he's free gold. He has one of those horrible low interactivity kits that boil down to just stats, like you're fighting a spreadsheet where you see whether your stats beat his or not.
