I think the directionnal attacks are going to be a little bit complicated with a pad.
But apparently its working fine on the nvidia shield some maybe there will be no problems. I don't know.
At least the way the menus are laid out and how the inventory works makes it probably easier to play with a pad.

And that's the problem, you have to do fuckalltons of work trying to get a 'complete' picture which is rarely ever even 50% complete and is almost always impersonal and grand in scale as well as beyond biased even using more than one source
Nothing's wrong with that but it makes for a poor novel-style story for the most part, which should be personal and have relate-able characters in addition to a gripping story.
Don't get me wrong, I love reading history as its own kind of story, but neither does it scratches the same its nor does it read in the same style. It's like saying "go read high fantasy" when someone wants something similar to Anna Karenina.

I have 3 cavalry units out of my 40 man army, so I can't let them charge recklessly since they're so much faster than the infantry but not a big enough force to survive a charge (they get surrounded etc.). How can I organize them so they come along roughly at the same time/rate as the infantry?

Looking at Morghs in Warwolf, the Japs are supposed to have a Tier 4/5/6 Cav tree: Yabusame, Yabusame Elite, Akasonae.

Has anybody seen them? Wondering why nothing can be upgraded to them. Yabusame are Horse Archers which is neat, then the Akasonae ditches the bow for a Nodachi. Or maybe for 4 Nodachi, since it's listed 4 times for some reason.

Does anybody have any idea how troops.txt works?
Warwolf seems to lists several items multiple times on one unit.

I'm wondering if there's a reason, or is it just a fuckup somewhere? I kind of want to delete duplicates so I can more easily understand/control what is going on with the units...but I dunno if it'll mess anything up.

Like there's pic attached and then the teppo samurai has 1370 (the arquebus) listed 5 times. Is there any real reason for it to be like that?

What have you changed so far? I've been messing with troops.txt for china and japan, but it's not translation so it's not just "shove it in".
Japan I've mostly just added the cavalry as recruitable, but china I flipped some of the infantry around a little bit. Not sure if it was actually even slightly beneficial.

well the advantage is those formations can be used in other scenes, since the PBOD style formations (square, ranks, wedge etc) can only be used in battlefield scenes
but shit like sieges, bandit hideouts, village battles won't have those PBOD formations so you're left with either the native formations if you have those WFAS formations off, or the WFAS formations which come in handy in those events

I wanted to figure out a way to trim the China troop tree down but...eh I wasn't sure what to remove, so didn't do much. Decided to flip Jibing into the end (modifying stats as appropriate) because they look cooler than Qianweibing (mostly, they have a helmet - which I could have just added but whatever) and are less "has 3 different weapon sets", so seem like they'd be more of a final-tier. Made it so the archer tree can actually go into Shuibing, and added a weaker-tier shuibing (that has a tier-skip, maybe? Not sure how the game calcs tiers) Let the Jianbing upgrade into a Shuibing vet to keep with what it was.

I was then distracted by Jap troops and noticed they have a bunch more other units available, so shoved em into their relatively sparse tree. Then I decided that if I was happy with the Jap tree, the Chinese tree should be fine, so pic related is what I ended up with, more or less.

Now I'm idly renaming items such that they are capitalized, but some of this shit is just named eg 'swj' (for its id, mesh, singular, and plural), which means fuckin nothing to me. Some type of body armor? Wow.
