I don't know, I always loved the sense of competition Splatfest brought. The miiverse posts were usually higher quality and it was always fun seeing new banter form Callie and Marie. There's basically a casual mode and ranked mode for online. For Ranked, they removed a lot of stages for certain game modes so you'll never be able to play them. In the end it just looks like you're playing the same 5-7 map combinations over and over again.

i'm disappointed, but at the same time kind of tired of splatfests. they really came down to just a day to farm for sea snails more than bringing the community together and the vanilla splatoon mode gets tiring after a few hours, especially in the amount of time it takes to reach queen/king status. The last few were also pretty boring, (SUMMER OR WINTER, NIGHT OWL OR DAY) I missed the last few with no real regrets for it. I'll be fighting in this one though, and looking forward to a full blown waifu war.

Oh, you're one of those people who thinks DLC is across the board a bad thing. I enjoyed the Mario Kart 8 DLC, and I wish there was more of it. It was developed after release. It had a good price point for how much you got from it. It basically added an extra 50% of content to the game, and then they even gave away 200cc after that for free. DLC can be bad like if it's on-disc at launch, then costs money later, but it's not an inherently bad concept. There's nothing wrong with continuing to develop for your game after your launch it as long as at launch it includes all the content developed before launch and there's enough of that content to justify the price it launches at.

I believe they said they would be working on a sequel already, if they knew what to do. They're willing and able to continue the series, but at the time were unsure as to how to expand on the Splatoon formula. It's comforting to know they want to be just as innovative about a new game, and not just rehash the same game like other shooters have become.

towers tw is shit. yes, the changes that they made to towers have done wonders for it in the ranked modes, but it's just a bad tw map. those long ass paths are a bitch to paint and the match is often determined by which team has the most of the tiny center section painted.
