Dont know if this is the right place to ask.
My 3ds wifi switch hasnt been working properly in the last 6 months. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt. For the past 3 months its been fine and it hasnt been working properly all of a sudden.

I already opened it up previously to reattach the wifi shit but that didnt do much. I know the wifi button is working because everytime i flick it up the icon bounces. Right now the wifi stays on for long periods and turns off for long periods with no way to turn it off/on. Any tips here?

I haven't updated my 3ds cfw since january and I used the browser exploit to launch into the updated emunand to play .cia games. My sysnand is still 9.2, but I never setup it booting directly into emunand or menuhax/CTRbootmanager etc. I read the thread in the pastebin about updating from rxtools but it requires me to be booting directly into one of those. I tried CTRbootmanager but the 3ds boots normally even after configuring the boot.cfg.

How do I make it boot directly into menuhax? I'm attempting to upgrade to Luma3ds.

How can I convert .3ds files to .cia files? I grabbed a Kirby Planet Robobot rom from some dude's google drive on 3dsiso but it was a .3ds file instead of a .cia. The other uploaders have some ad shit that fuck up my browser.

I know that homebrewing and emulators are very unlikely to brick a 3DS. Is it the same for pirating 3DS games, or is it fairly risky?

I was following Plailects guide and I got to Section II of Part 5.

When I went to the site to load the .bin file the bottom screen glitched out and stayed like that for a while. I turned the system off thinking I could try again but now it doesnt boot at all with the SD Card out and I only get a black screen with it in. What can I do?

I remember Donkey Kong Country Returns taking up a full GB of space on my XL's hard drive when Nintendo gave me a free copy of it.

I have about 8-9 2 GB ones laying around in my house but if these games are large I might just buy an 8-16 one. I'd expect to download at least 5-6 games on it in the next couple of months.

Actually pirated games are basically streamed off of nintendo servers using only the ticket, which is a super small file with some attributes and keys and things. So realistically speaking you'll never need more than a 2gb sd card unless you plan on trying to download the whole library or something

Please don't use the simple 3DS to cia converter. That tampers with the cia, making them region-free.
It's a horrid idea to do that because fan patches usually need a clean cia (like Taiko no Tatsujin 3 needs).

On your SD, do you have the OTP.bin file? If so, a9lh probably got installed and you can keep going on with the guide.

You're likely booting to a black screen with your SD card in because Luma can't boot 2.10, and not booting at all because a9lh doesn't work without the SD.

I'm at Part 4, Section 2, Number 4. The problem is I need to backup EmuNAND to continue, but my SD card is only 4GB, and thus not big enough to do that (as far as I can tell).

SO, what I WANT to do is transfer all this hack-y shit onto my 16GB card. HOWEVER, the only way I've been told to do it is to backup EmuNAND and move it- which is the entire problem to begin with and obviously something I cannot to. Not to mention, wouldn't doing that and formatting the 16GB SD just make it function as a 4GB anyway??

I am on my hands and knees begging for help here. I've followed the guide fine up until now- if I could just get everything I've done onto my bigger SD, everything would be fine.

so i used to use rxtools from january and i can boot into my emunand using browser/sliderhax now. the 1st time it worked it boot into the luma3ds configuration page, but now when I use sliderhax to enter the emunand I can't get the luma3ds config page to open. also my homebrew launcher doesn't work. do i have to format for the a9lh loader and shit?

I'm confident that installing every relevant game and a lot of the not so relevant won't go fill a 64gb sd, but if you really want a 128, then go for it.
You can leave games installing while doing something else, at least that's what I usually do, so I'm not so sure about all that saved time. Also, if time is such and issue for you then you'll probably pass on the bad titles, so I'd say even 32gb would be enough for you.

I have a friend who has three 3DS systems (o3DS, o3DSXL and n3DSXL) and he only wanted to do the o3DS and o3DSXL because he likes to have an untempered console while it's still being supported. But putting RedNAND/a9lh on it doesn't change any functionality.
He still refused to hack his n3DSXL, which is objectively the superior platform and more desireable to hack because of it.

I bought the special OOT 3DS when it launched, sometime around early 2011 and played the shit out of it.

When the XL came out around early 2015 I bought the special edition that comes with A Link Between Worlds because it costed almost as much as a regular XL on it's own, so I decided to upgrade. So I'd like to know if I understand this correctly- The current WiiU exploit is not permanent, and needs to be run every time I want to run any homebrew application, correct?

The reason I ask is because I like to wait for things to be absolutely ironed out before doing anything pertaining to (permanently) modifying IOS files, or custom firmware or anything of that sort. Wrong. If it worked, it wouldn't have said FAILED the first time. The restoration must have fucked up for one reason or another and was partial, and that's why now it thinks it's there.
The very fact that your nand dump is smaller than it should be is a very, very sad news for you.

I haven't been following all of your posts, but if it's just emunand you fucked up, you might still have it on your old SD, so you could try to dump it properly this time. Or if you formatted your old SD for some reason, you'll have to set up your emunand anew using your sysnand clone.

Ok, wait a moment. If you get this error when you try to format, why are you even trying to inject a nand dump afterwards?
It means you're fucking up the formatting itself. Now why that happens I cannot tell you, I haven't tried SD card swapping 3DS formatting trickery, I just bought a bigger SD card the day I bought my 3DS and used it since.
Anyway, you're either doing something wrong during the card swapping, or maybe the process has that high fault chance, and I sincerely doubt it's the latter.
In any case, there should be tools to format and prepare your SD card for an emu/rednand you could use right on your PC, without having to swap cards.

Nah anon you're not dumb. I had the reverse problem, card is writable from 3DS but not on my laptop. What I did was to blow hard into my laptop's SD reader everytime the fucker fails to work. I followed Plailect's guide and finally set up my n3ds with luma and I am now automatically booting to 11.0 as it instructed. Everything worked fine, but then I did a system transfer from my o3DS emu nand to this one... It seems to have worked fine, still boots to the same emu nand but now none of the hold down to boot buttons work :( (e.g. holding down to boot straight to home brew). I can still boot to homebrew via the homebrew launcher buton on my homescreen and I tried menu_manager (from Part 1 of the guide) but that fails to install every time (install failed: 0x00000002)
What should I do? I don't want to format the sd again since that means loosing my set-up.
Any advice is appreciated!

There's no a9lh HBL payload. You can launch HBL from the home menu if you install the HBL cia now.

Yes, when you downgrade the sys to 2.1.0 menuhax was already dead, and when you cloned the 11.0 emunand to the 2.1.0 sysnand it was already buried 30ft undeground.
Menuhax DOESN'T work with 11.0 you enter HBL through the homemenu
