What should I be doing to play mercy better?

Should I ever pop my resurrect on one player or should I always try to hold it for larger groups. My team often seems to go in 1 at a time and I end up not using it much.

There is absolutely no harder hero to deal with than a D.Va. She's damned near unkillable, has a second-wind that makes her faster than Tracer and do as much damage as a Soldier 76, can shred anyone at close range with her shotguns, and has enough health and armor in her mech to tank the entire team's focused fire for around 30 seconds.

What pisses me off about D.va is she doesnt work within the context of the game

She has the highest effective HP in the game and yet if she gets hooked at full hp she'll still melt fast as fuck

She just explodes, too easy to hit

She cant fly for long enough with her boosters to make proper use of it because the distance covered is too short

The cooldown on defense matrix is too high/duation too short for most of the abilities in the game

She just doesn't work. She cant siege for shit compared to reinhardt and she hasnt got as much solo kill power as a winston or roadhog so whats the point

And if you use the hook to get a good point blank headshot in, and get her, she pops out, outruns or outright finishes off your stupid ass, and has another mech five seconds later. This works but it takes coordination and working synapses, something you can't always find in pubs. It is for this reason that defense has a higher win rate at lower mmr and offense has a higher win rate at higher mmr. Usually I hook her to kill the mech and she pops out. I'm such a fatass I get absolutely shredded by her shotguns close range, and I usually win the mech-fight with somewhere in the neighborhood of 100 hp, with my hook on CD. She then proceeds to run circles around me with her very, very fast running speed and finishes me off with her pistol, or just ducks around a corner too fast for me to follow. This I don't have a problem with, it makes sense, but I just really do not have an answer to dealing with her.

I don't think she's overpowered, I've never played her so I can't comment on her being underpowered either, but I just do not know how to deal with her.

Also I don't have that much trouble with Reinhardts. Usually you can hook them, get a good headshot in, and just backpeddle while hitting them. They're a good threat but manageable. I just do not have even a concept of being able to defeat a D.Va.

Remember she barely tickles you at range and you vastly outdamage her closer up. There's no real need to hook the mech as it's not a threat from further than a bee's dick away from you. Just save the hook for d.Va herself and oneshot her.

Other things to keep in mind are that you can mostly straight up outheal her with your E, and that both your M1 and M2's at their respective ranged do absolutely absurd amounts of damage as both her regular hitbox and her critbox in the mech are gigantic.

As for Reinhardts, you just fucking run up past their shield and pop them. Again, close up you out damage them just watch for charge or Hammer down. Only really worth hooking if you're literally going to die otherwise, or hook them out of charge but only bad Reins will do it from far enough away to let you.

As someone who plays a lot of Bastion, I think I can elucidate your confusion.

The reason that people whine about Bastion is because of how instantly polarizing he is.
It's kinda the same reason people are bitching about Mercy.
When you're in a game, it's hard enough to coordinate a team to cap an objective.
Heroes like Bastion and Mercy are also "mandatory objectives", in that you NEED to kill them in order to advance.
If the team's Priority One isn't "kill Mercy", she'll rez her entire team. If Priority One isn't "kill Bastion", he has the most immediate ability to kill your entire team.

The reason more people bitch about Mercy than Bastion is because Bastion is a lot more self-contained. If you don't spot out and kill the Mercy straight away, you'll just have to do this whole fight over again. If you don't spot out the Bastion, you outright die.

Then there's the fact that Bastion is a very powerful "noob friendly device". Any team of randoms can put together that the walking minigun is a win condition, and can build around it; there's that pic of a Bastion, Reinhardt, and Mercy together for a reason. Conversely, putting a team together AT ALL that can mitigate or neutralize the threat of a Bastion, or for that matter a team built around a Bastion, is exponentially more difficult.

Let me put it this way. Name any other single hero in Overwatch that any random team can put together as your team's win condition.
