Man I wish I still had the time and willpower to do the mmo grind like I used to. I remember losing my first ship in eve and the utter heartbreak and confusion of not knowing how it happened. Then I remembered that I'm a grown ass man with a credit card and just bought like 20 plex and skill injected my way into fun. Now I just do a little ratting now and then to maintain a decent amount of isk just in case I need to buy a new hurricane or whatever.

And there is nothing wrong with playing like this.

Balance is shit for a game like EVE. The only imbalance that ever needs to be fixed is when every alliance is flying exactly the same doctrines like with t3 cruisers or ishtars. Ideally there should be so many choices and so much whacked balance that every region has their own combat meta and tactics.

At least I'd prefer moving in the direction of EVE being less of a game and more like the real world than EVE moving in the direction of "everything must be perfectly balanced because game". False options, niche extremes, and reliable midground options make for the most interesting enviroment for tech/doctrine/tactics races in alliance warfare. You wont have experienced FC's continuing to lead fleets when the game is elegant and solved.

Passive modules like damage mods can randonly roll tracking, shield or armor hp, resistances, speed, reduce or increase mass etc.

Self Activated modules like cap boosters can roll repairs, extra cap, ECM protection.

All the activated extra effects cost the same cap to activate as their module counterparts.

This way good officer modules with good combos of effects can be trully rare and expensive.

The key thing is that you are not allowed to press a single button and have multiple clients receive the order. You can run clients side by side, hell you can even use isboxer for window management, as long as you're clicking in each client individually to give orders.
