I'm in America. I bought a Japanese N3DS and successfully switched the region/language to USA/English.

I know I won't be able to use the eShop, but could I transfer my old NNID over to this device? I'd have to do it over the phone, but I've never had a problem with that, previously.

However the TID is also in the NCCH header.

So I downgraded o3ds to 9.2 using guide and now I am stuck on the point of creating SysNAND backup (part 2 point 24), EmuNAND9 doesn't recognize my SD filesystem for some reason and I am at loss how to aproach this. Do I backup all my files and format SD using EmuNAND9 then copy all of it back to SD card? It should be easy in theory, but since I don't really know that much of 3ds hacking I would rather stick to the guide in 100%

If you have a SysNAND backup from before a9lh, use Decrypt9 to restore that without the keep a9lh option. If you don't, SafeA9LHInstaller has a removal option but it hasn't received wide testing.

Im doing the NAND backups in part 4 and each of my backups matched a different filesize out of the valid sizes. Should they both match the same size?

The only way to remove a9lh would be to update the FIRM the a9lh (launcher) is stored in, and by default most current CFWs block Nintendo from doing that.

The way CFWs patch out FIRM writes is in no way reliable when running against arbitrary code coming from Nintendo. It would be utterly trivial for them to un-a9lh any and all users that update blindly on a current version of Luma. Much harder to do if you're booting from a firmware.bin file of any kind though (but they could make it so newer versions don't boot with older FIRMs).

I don't have the links right now, but I'm pretty sure there's a thread on gbatemp that says how to remove A9LH without a backup. You'll probably sell it for more if you sell it with all the hax installed though, just be sure to give the buyer all the pertinent information that you clearly ignored.

Literally swap the two instructions that are patched, or move the "exe:" string around a bit. That breaks Luma's 4 single byte patch (to be fair it's nearly impossible to do it better). On 12.0 ARM11-side, trigger another FIRM write the first time you boot, like during that "updating home menu management information" screen that pops up whenever they make changes there. Newer FIRMs don't necessarily need to make use of the keys that were corrupted by a9lh, they could just hardcode them in the FIRM instead, meaning they don't need an OTP to undo the damage.

We can always update the patches, but you'd need a newer CFW to run newer FIRMs safely, and the people that blindly updated in the time may or may not be screwed. The "just update your shit as soon as it comes out hurr totally unpatchable" meme needs to end. No matter whether you're on EmuNAND or a9lh, the only safe thing to do is to wait.

Of course, Nintendo hasn't invested much effort in removing existing hacks this time around. Not nearly as much as they did with the Wii anyway. But they very easily could.

You installed arm9loaderhax (A9LH), which is something you flash into the console so that it reads a file in your SD card when starting up, so you just need to put the files in your SD card for it to start. If by any chance you backed up the contents of the card before formating, put them back and it should work, otherwise follow the last steps of the guide you used to set up AuRei/Luma again. Not trying to be a jerk, but you should really keep backups and understand what you're doing before doing this kind of stuff, or at least listen to the guide, which tells you the most basic stuff you need to know.

There isn't much difference in how they work. v2 uses a new FIRM which allows for bigger payload .bins to be run.
Newer features include the screen init switching and being able to turn the 3DS on without an SD card. But these were only added very recently so could be unstable.

If you're on v1 just follow the updating a9lh section of plailect's guide, using the no screen init version of a9lh. After that you can update again with the payloads from the latest commit if you want, but it's not necessary to fix your issue.

i honestly dont know where to ask but it seems like a problem for here.

i seriously cant understand why my xenoblade chronicles runs slow on my new 3dsxl. like it's not supposed to be like that. i went into luma settings and made sure to check the option "clock". ever since i got to the ether mines to save juju the game really runs slow. i thought it was just that section so i dealt with it but its still noticeably slow when i got out, and cutscenes are very laggy and shitty.

does anybody know whats wrong? i dont get it.
