Well, that's it then. Taken out in the Ro16 by /twg/. Again.

A lot of small factors consolidated to make this a loss, I think. Conditions definitely played a part in it(yes >>145881675, that's just how it goes sometimes) but I'm definitely a big part of it too. Partly it's because I didn't make the right changes, or didn't make them soon enough. In retrospect I think I should've mirrored /twg/'s formation and packed all my midfielders into the middle and played with an aggressive, high defensive line to try to dispossess them near the halfway line instead of letting them get into the box. But I didn't, at least partly because I didn't manage to test for this match at all. I managed to break my testing setup somehow while trying to get a different game to work. There's also the fact that I didn't give Quadbless Mictlan and Forester Bob any shooting cards while making the team in favor of just sticking more crossing and shooting abilities on them. This has proven to be a mistake.

Still, all-in-all, this wasn't a terrible performance. We got out of the group stage, with 9 points no less. We've got a guaranteed rep on the /vg/ team(though this is hardly a desirable trophy at the moment); we should probably decide who that should be.

Also, if you don't want to see a repeat of this, I'd love to have someone help me with the testing next league, since my own potato can barely handle running the game at all. Assuming this general doesn't die, but I have faith it won't.

The fact that attempting to dual-wield maces is literally retarded. You can dual-wield axes fairly effectively, or shortswords reasonably well, but maces, as a blunt object, require a heavy, long swing to do serious damage (one that's fairly accurate at that to strike at the head or sides). Since this borders on impossible with two maces, nobody ever tried. Maces get paired with shields for a reason, like longswords - you need a serious arm on it.

I attack Player A, and take a bunch of their provinces, including some originally owned by Player B. However, Player A has not cracked the forts.

I could postpone my attacks so A takes B's forts and then take them for myself. I could kick A off and take them directly from B. I could kick A off and let B keep the fort but not the surrounding provinces. I could give back some of what was B's land so he keeps forts with surrounding provinces.

I don't feel up to a full war with both A and B at once, but am convinced I can kick either of their asses one at a time.

What is the recommended course of action?

So, going under the assumption that you have already attacked Player A, I would suggest you go after the Provinces that Player A owned before the war between A and B. The big reason to not go directly for the former player B's land is because should they bounce right back when A gets hit hard by you, you will be in a position to befriend them if you so choose. Additionally, if you are fast, you can claim all of A's lands while B only gets their old lands back. If you are even Faster, then if you can claim nearly all of A's lands before B gets back most of the land they lost, you can take some of those as part of 'cleaning up A'. If you don't care about breaking a promise, then you could even tell them you are only doing it to end A and are fine with giving those provinces back once A is actually dead. This can put your armies in a forward position to hit B while they think you are actively helping them.

In Dragons everyone seems to be urging an attack on the Ermor menace to the North. But bear in mind the low points cost of the game and who controls the current thrones.

Arcoscephale controls a 2 point throne, is in position to take a throne from AI rlyeh and borders a neutral throne between Agartha and itself. This could be a 1 point throne but It has a 140~ defenders so is likely 2 points.

Forget the meme in the north. If you let Arcoscephale (who has no aggressive neighbours) be he is going to take the win from under your noses.

Battles caused by an army defending a castle set to "Break Siege": where do they take place in the turn order? I assume in the normal combat phase, but I'm wondering when the two armies meet. Does breaking siege go at the same speed as friendly territory to friendly territory, or friendly territory to enemy territory?

To give an example, my fort is being sieged by an enemy. Let's assume that on the same turn I give my army orders to break siege and he gives his army orders to move to an adjacent province owned by me. Will our armies definitely meet and have a battle, or is it just maybe?

Give them an E9 F4 bless. Early expansion gets easier with medium infantry that protect like heavy infantry and fatigue like naked people. And the reinvig helps Lizard Shaman for communions, though not as much as a N4 bless so Personal Regen (shared through communion) heals 2 points instead of 1. D9 demilich is a good place to start, gives you a decent bless for ancestor vessels, helps you with high end death magic and gives a ton of scales if it's imprisoned, and you need a lot of scales given how expensive your mages are. It also makes ancestral spirits have a decent chance of doing more than just temporarily holding up enemy units.

Yeah LA Tc has a lot of tools that aren't skelly spam -

They have cheap foreign recruit cavalry. A scales build with prod can snowball its expansion quite well with heavy horsemen. In the later part of the game, they have a variety of battlefield-wide damage spells, with WoD, RoS, and Foul Vapors in their toolkit depending on what you can most easily position and protect yourself against.

Skellyspam with Foul Vapors is an option, but as >>146007596 said, your skelly spammers are expensive, high enc, and only D2.

Early game, you can spam ancestral spirits with a prophet blessing them, but you can quite quickly switch over to E buffs on your cavalry seeing as smiths can both drop spirits at Conj 1 and do the earthpower->buffs and earth meld thing

Their sacreds look cool, but are very expensive and you don't need them.

A d9 demilich is fine. The fact that it helps give your sacreds a wee bit isn't nearly as good as the path itself, the spirit buff, and the fact that it makes your spooks tankier. I still wouldn't recruit the sacreds unless you're rolling in dosh. I'd pretty much always rather have two heavy horsemen when expanding
