It's on par with other paradox games. CK2 is still profitable enough they are still making DLC for it over 4 years after release.

I really hope the leaders will be more interesting to play as in Civ VI. Like something more bombastic and game changing instead of "extra embarked movement" "no penalty attacking over river" "less time to raze a city" like how boring can you get
>>
>>145822264
People will buy it anyway, so why other? You don't need AI or interesting bonuses for autistic 1-2 cities playthroughs, which is what most civ5 players do.
>>
>>145822264
Each civ in Civ 6 will have 4 unique things about them instead of 3.

They will have two UA's this time, one is gonna work for the whole game and the other is gonna work for the one era that the leader lived in. This leader-specific UA could also materialize as unique unit, such as Teddy's Rough Rider. Each Civ will have at least one unique unit and at least one unique building/infrastructure.

Tidal Locked, -10% habitability
I don't actually know how the game applies it.
Could be Gaia Planet = 100%, -10% = 90%
Or Tidal Locked = -10%, but Gaia overrides to permanent 100%.
I only found conquered the planet after I'd already got +15% habitability from tech, so I have no way of knowing.

Good ground combat in an 4x/Grand strategy when?
I want to see all the different troops dynamically interact, like how spaceships usually do. It would also allow for combat to be resolved by more than just spamming stacks of armies and watching health bars tick down.
I was thinking something similar to Multiwinia could work.
>doesn't even need to be 3D, a two dimensional map of the planet would suffice
>terrain on the 2D map would be cool as well
>replace control points with cities/population centers/other planetary buildings
>ability to design all ground combat units
>build troops and create combined arms units
>infantry/armor/artillery/xenomorph/robots and whatever other cool crazy future stuff there could be
>fight all the xeno scum you can find

Something like this could add strategic depth to invading an entire planetary body. Where should troops land? Being able to design troops like how ships are would allow for the same gameplay ships have to be experienced by the ground forces as well. Things like what kind of small arms weapons infantry have.

an anon can dream, can't he?

How does the game determine what ethics other empires start with?

So far this game has been almost everyone being Individualist or Spiritualist, when I'm Fanatic Collective and Materialist. The ones that aren't Individualist or Spiritualist otherwise hates me for enslaving and purging, although I haven't actually purged anyone (yet) and the only slaves are from my own primary species (Star Empire, so enslaving people works out 'better' than using robots).

On previous games where I was a 'pacifist xenophile' I noticed a lot of militarists xenophobes as well.

Civs should have more leaders.
Few leaders for different eras. At last one for each.
With a chance -optional- that they switch leader to another if it his era.
Say germany start with Arminius-Barbarossa-Fredireick-Hitler-Merkel
Some leaders will be weaker tha n others and represent nation decline.
It would be possible to go revolution and try to frce change leader.
It should eb optional as I can see many people could not like it.

Can I ask you about opinions on Sorcerer King game?

I played and liked Fallen Enchantress, but I heard that SK is actually regression from that form - that game is actually simplified instead. Could anybody provide their opinions?
>>
>>145855726
FE is a proper 4x with some light rpg
SK is less classic 4x.
In SK you are a vassal of the SK and have to keep on his good side while expanding until you can beat him.
It's an interesting dynamic but if you're just looking for a normal 4x it's not for you.
>>
>>145855868

Actually, I got Planar Conquest game recently for free, as apology from devs of Worlds of Magic after they decided that their game cannot be fixed and instead made separate, "improved" version. Since I bought key for WoM for around 2 EUR, I guess it went out nice.

Seeing that those two games are similar, then maybe I shouldnt get SK at all.

But does it mean that SK doesnt have normal 4x game mode, aka start on randomly generated map, make alliances and crush opponents?

Limited leader amount actually force you to do some choices. And was another anti blob mechanics.
Your medicine isn't much better than sickness.
Increasing leader amount isn't bad but 9000 is just ridicoulus.
It would be nice to have separate leaders slots(for each category) plus some universal(waried on goverment system and tech) plus ability to use different leaders for diferent tasks.
Like using general to govern planet(to pacify population, cheap units or boosting defence) or governors to lead fleets.
So military govermnt could have more generals/admiral slots when civilain ruled more burecrats(even in army).

>>
>>145857910
i said 9000 just for meme reference.

i agree that the leader system needs to be reworked. Xenophobic pops should revolt if you assign the alien governer.
We also should be able to see the stats of the leader of alien civilisation, try to interract with them, give them presents directly, trying to assasinate them, or be able to bribe the enemy governor.

It should be also intresting to manage the crews of spaceships. percentage of aliens and core species in the crew. Some species should be able to operate ships more effectively than the others, some traits should be added like "born in the void" or something like that.
>>
>>145858013

Didnt tried them yet, to be honest. While WoM is supposed to be so broken that even devs decided to abandon it and give Conquest for free to any owner (basically free patch), their next game is, according to some opinions, much less buggy.

I mean, they don't make sense. Ally would accept any war goal as long as he gets something (Even if it is liberation of one planet in his name) and won't object if you don't press it on victory anyway.

Also, why did my observation posts stopped enlightening primitives? They list monthly gain as zero.

It is possible that the monthly gain gets rounded down to zero, this happens if they're renaissasnce or earlier.

Actually, my Allies seem to be fine with goign to war as long as teh only wargoals are 'Liberations', even if all the liberated bits get vassalized by me immediately, and I eventually integrate them all.

I think that can happen with the random gene-modding event, when some pops basically get a bunch of traits changed or added for free.

That's a mutant.
You can get events where pops mod themselves on a planet.

They change to their preferred habitat, so I will try colonizing a tomb world and getting the techs for that event chain and see if they adopt tomb world.

Here are some mutants from my game.

Also Very Strong+Strong on your mutants.
That's pretty great.

If you integrate them, they'll be unhappy and join factions. On the other hand if you have right policies you could purge or enslave them.

Talk about mommy-issues.

I think what you're looking for is the Total War games. In the armies of thousands facing each other, the troops actually individually interact with each other, and terrain matters as well as fighting around buildings/city infrastructure/choke points.

It shouldn't be too tough, I just need a solid collection of rare Pepes to animate, so I need your suggestions, you neets.

Anyone playing the latest community patch for civ V? It's improved a lot since I last played it, they've fleshed out vassalage and corporations.

The AI seems better at combat as well, they build large armies and attack en masse, don't do stupid shit like embarking units right next to your navy etc...

They also added an event system which is pretty neat

Star Ruler 2 is great dude. I find all the techs and constructions really capture the feeling of progressing through different galactic ages. Starting off small and then years later in-game all your support ships are bigger than your largest starting ship. Building artificial planets and crafting solar systems with ancient artifacts.

I'll agree that some stuff has been simplified and heavily automated. But I find it reduces micromanagement that non-auto mechanics could have brought up.

There's a soft cap to size, I think. The scaling is much more dramatic. Going galaxy sized takes a heap more resources and time.

Some days ago I posted and some guy said he was gonna try it... How did it go? I need feedback.

Human Exodus Mod:
1.- 19 prescripted human civilizations inspired in real life countries. They include their own name lists (ships, people, planets), 'species', description and ruler title.

2.- Human portraits have been divided into the 5 different races (hispanic, caucasian, african, middle eastern, asian) plus a 'diverse' portrait wich includes all.

3.- No non-human civilizations (except fallen and primitives) will apear in-game if you initiate the game with one of the following:
a)You choose one of the pre-built civs and add 18 or less AI's.
b)You make a new civ and add 19 or less AI's.

4.- There can't be 'human' fallen empires, pre-sentients or primitives, except, maybe, whatever comes out in the random 'Sol' the game creates.

5.- Humans now have their own species category.

6.- You can create new empires, but only human.

Earlier I said that it looked like the Unbidden threat was being dealt with. Indeed, the Unbidden would 'grow' by a system from the portal it started in, but then lose it soon after. This just from the Seban Union and what I suspect is a FE to the south.

That is, until the same federation that keeps pissing off the Holy World FE declared war on the Seban Union, taking advantage of their fight against the Unbidden. After 'liberating' some of the Seban Union worlds and making them a vassal of one of the Federation members, it looks like the Seban Union has finally been weakened enough that the Unbidden is now beginning to reach their remaining systems.

I feel like this is rigged. The breach point is one of the Grand Entete members, and not only that, it happens to be on the opposite border of the FE facing the Unbidden.

The FE turned out to be Militarist Isolationists - maybe they knew where the invaders were going to come and had just, for unknown millennia, continuously prepared themselves for the incoming crisis. But in doing that they became what they are today, unable to actually handle the crisis now.
>>
I've come to realize just how laughably easy a fanatic collectivist empire is to manage internally because there's no slave revolts yet.

- Conquered a planet full of xenophobes? Enslave.
- Generally, conquered a planet full of xenos? Enslave.
- Uplifts? Enslave.
- Infiltrated a planet? Enslave.
- Some of your own species pop's ethics diverges towards xeno slaves on the planet? Enslave!
- Some of your own species genemods themselves to become ubermensch? Enslave, and it nips the whole event chain in the bud before they cause trouble. Then you can manage them or purge depending how you want to handle your empire's genetic purity.
- Purge left and right, fanatic collectivists take no happiness hit. Those who do, are normally just your slaves.
- Resettle slaves to any type of planet, their happiness has no meaning and no effect on work efficiency.
- Ministry, commissaars, mind conrol lasers, never again worry about your freemen ethics diverging, and see those xeno slaves diverge towards your glorious empire's only true ethics.
- Stack those slave efficiency bonuses and you'll have so much minerals you won't know what to do with them.

Granted, some of the above is just for flavor purposes as they have no effect on the efficiency of your empire.

I guess I get to watch a FE get eaten up and have an excuse to grab their territory later without making more people angry - not that it matters, everyone already hates me in this game for some reason and I'm not even a xenophobe

>>145957743
Being a Fanatic Collectivist makes taking Decadent trivial, because your people are just as happy to be slaves.
Fanatic Collectivist also gives ridiculous bonuses to Ethic Divergence, so you can expand far with your primary race without having to worry about needing to purge (and as you say, they don't care who's getting purged most of the time).

The only main 'problem' with Fanatic Collectivist (or just Collectivist) is that they hate the idea of bolstering individuals to make full use of them (capacity boosters), which means you miss out on that extra lifespan and starting levels (unless you don't care about the happiness penalty).
>>
I was thinking of adding (modding in) the Nietzschean Alliance/Empire (Andromeda)

From the description, they would start with

Nomadic
Fast Learner
(because essentially humans)
Strong (5x stronger than humans)
Enduring (150 year lifespan)
Adaptive
Resilient

And some sort of meritocratic government
+1 talent for leaders and leader elite armies, extreme bias towards leader level for election

ethics
xenophobe
militarist
individualist

What I wanted to do is to incorporate some trait that includes some of these traits in a more weak fashion, but also blocks you from researching gene tailoring (and subsequently targeted gene expressions (which means you'll never be able to create different forms of the same species with just with different habitational preferences to settle different planet types.

>Swarms are superior

No shit.
>>
>>145958284
Yes, I realized that about decadent after a short first try as fanatic collectivist and went back to add it. On new colonies, I enslave one primary species pop and after I get to bring in slaves (needs the first capital upgrade for resettling) I emancipate. Again, because they are collectivists, they don't get that "was enslaved" happiness malus.

I start colonies with primary species to keep their numbers up and to have them running science and energy on the planet. Since food gets divided for growth by species ratio on planet, it is easy to keep their numbers ahead if necessary (and resettle if not necessary). This is also why I went fanatic collectivist instead of fanatic xenophobe. The 'phobes can't share a planet with their xeno slaves without taking a happiness hit, and for efficient production it is better to share planets. Unless RNGesus gave you a nice planet spread.
>>
>>145958719
That late into the game I'd stop using Corvettes, and go with at least Destroyers if not just making Cruiser/Battleship fleets. Since the evasion stacking nerf, Corvettes stop being useful after you can afford Destroyers consistently, other than being meat shields in terms of the 'safety in numbers' concept.

Could even drop Cruisers and just go pure Battleships if your economy can afford it.

The only issue I have with taking Decadent as a free trait point is that the Sector AI has no idea what the trait means. Because of that if you colonise worlds within a Sector, they won't enslave a pop for this purpose and everyone suffers. At least you can still enslave pops within a sector - just have to remember which colonies are new.

Having Dido as ruler of carthage was equally retarded. Dido probably didnt exist at all, she was a character in some mythical tale that presumably "led the phoenicians to found carthage" . Imagine if the united states had Lady liberty as a leader. The effort they undertake to shoehorn some female leaders into historical games is laughable

As soon as the war against the federation started, the Ul-Tur League for some reason decided to ignore everything and ran straight down to the United Pobelin Coalition (another federation member), using the 'wartime border access' to go through my territory. I managed to intercept the fleet - as well as the Coalition's fleet with it - and destroy it as it entered the Coalition's territory, but later I discovered why it was going there, and why they had grouped up.

That would be cool. All countries should have their personification as leader.
>>
I've made like four custom empires and I fucking love picking an appearance, writing a biography, and dreaming up the leader's personality with special titles and everything.
For example, I made a new empire as a "successor" to a mostly generic one I played before Clarke. "The Ashen Imperium" had a biography detailing their escape from federation blobs and explaining how their ethos slightly changed and their traits evolved. Following that, female leaders are called "High Successor" after the original Empire's first (and "legendary") Empress. Male leaders are "Keepers of the Flame" and their heirs are "Archpriests of Ash" who, I dunno, guard the few remaining ash-relics of their long-abandoned homeworld.

Another Empire I made was lead by a race of venerable spiritualist reptilians (which was the portrait) but the biography details that, behind the scenes, this species works in cooperation with a plethora of other species in a caste-like structure. To reflect the fluff, the ships' prefix is one of the sub-races, and the ship type and city type are non-reptilian to show that the bureaucracies and the navy are mainly staffed by these sub-races. The venerable, leadership races, however, legitimises itself as being "conduits" for the souls of their empire.

I dunno, just a bit of fun. My laptop is pretty awful so designing these races is half the fun. It's pretty disappointing seeing that some of the other custom races out there are either jokes or covered in spelling errors.

I find half the fun is coming up with the backstory to my species as well.

I spent far too much time on my current species' backstory, I'm using DZ Unique Starting Systems and there's one which starts you on a Gaia world surrounded by a shattered ringworld.

I wrote out a whole history of how they were a primitive species that was uplifted to serve as infantry grunts for a technologically advanced but physically weak Fallen Empire and when the Empire fell to it's enemies, all that remained was some of these troops who survived the purge that wiped out their masters, hidden in bombarded city ruins and garrisoning remote outposts, like the Japanese hold-outs after WW2.

They've had to slowly regroup in their master's destroyed home system and are having to relearn how to make all the technology they were gifted with before.

Then I had to condense the whole thing down to the tiny box it allows you to put your species bio in.

Yeah, I feel the technology to flesh out your backstory is pretty gimped. You can't alter the start-info; you're constrained by the character limit on the box; and half the crap you'd want to do you have to make a new namelist for.

I think that when they add in civilian ships that they'll be uncustomisable.

>>145969031
Due to how game handles fleets, probably not. Right now hyperspace is all clustered anyway, so it's not too different from warp in accessibility, but on one hand it might be interesting to have one empire having access to other and not vice versa if hyperlane graph was more loose, on another it's terribly incovinient.

Wormholes I feel should be a part of infrastructure accessible to all, not separate method. Like roads in Civilization.
Alternatively, make them expensive so wormhole empire would be slowed down on expansion. But more options for tall empire should be present.

Is that.. Is the outer planet habitable? I don't really know how a planet orbiting a black hole would be capable of sustaining life as we know it, beyond very, very, very, very maybe tardigrade-ish life if the accretion disk is radiating enough warmth and at the same time blocking gamma radiation and such.

>>145969717
Not sure what he meant, but I have noticed for example if you use the "return to spaceport" command with hyperlane fleet, it will go to the spaceport that is nearest physically, as opposed to nearest in travel time. For example, in pic related, if you select the fleet in system 1 and use "go to nearest spaceport", it will go to spaceport A instead of B. A is indeed closer physically, but in terms of traveltime 3 extra hyperlane jumps
>>
>>145969717
No, I imagined hyperlanes being sparce and long, thus potentially allowing hyper empires to spread across the galaxy in small clusters. While warp empires would go to any, but only nearby system.

I imagined a situation where hyper empire would fly across the galaxy and harass warp empire, while being unable to retaliate against warp empire right next door because there's no hyperlane to them.

There are alliances and federations all over the place and everyone likes everyone else so if I declare war on anyone, it will make everyone hate me and become the galactic public enemy number one.

Wat do? Shit's getting boring.

What if FTL also could have various events. For example, hyperlanes might appear and disappear over time (perhaps more likely to vanish if used more often). A warp storm might either block a warp ship (meaning they have to do indirect jumps to get past), or even speed up warp travel through there. Not sure what could apply to wormholes though.

I agree that it's shit, but I'm unconvinced it's because they designed it for multiplayer. Paradox is notorious for barely designing their games *at all* on release. It takes 5+ DLCs before it's got as much content of a normal game at launch. It ain't pretty, but it is very much par the course.

You'll get workable general-purpose fleet that advances in steps small enough for you to upgrade fleets quickly. Probably not good enough to beat the player though.

They are amazingly strong in early game. If you can get them before the AI gets battleships, then you'll slaughter everyone by doing 2-3x damage for a slot.

honestly, it should work the other way around
Obsolescence ranks make it easier to spot old models rather than have Dick Propeller Mark XXVIII as your newest design
Make the newest design keep the name and rename all other ships with a "Obsolescence rank"

Also just use dropdown trees to visualize variants of the same size, there's no reason to have 50 images of a corvette in your ship design page when you can just go by names and group them down the corvette image

Going to try a serious game now with other empires. Playing a feudalistic space spiders (though feudalism seems like kinda a crap government type).
I've got a few questions, if anyone is willing.
When looking for resources, I should be looking for whatever my ships are made of, correct? Are resources refined into components? Where can I see what components ships are made of?
I'm also still unsure of what the percentage that accompanies resources indicates.

4X games could learn a lot from city building games.

I've been playing a lot of Distant Worlds lately, and a lot of it is simply logistical management and watching numbers go up. The worst part is that this is what Cities Skylines is too, except that at least there you have visual feedback in the form of buildings.

Anno and Tropico, though, handle this brilliantly. You have an in-game economy like Distant Worlds, except that you have instant visual feedback, tangible results in the form of goods and (in the case of Anno) international trade wars to outperform your competitors. Too bad Anno is shit and Tropico is dead.

It feels like 4X games have become civilization builders like city builders, except without asking "why?" Why build civilizations? Why build cities? Cities Skylines (and for that matter the last couple of Simcity games) never bothered to ask that, and so for the most part they exist in a kind of vacuum. I would have expected the makers of Europa Universalis and Victoria to do better, but the post-mortem makes it clear they didn't even understand 4Xs. Maybe Stars Beyond Reach will do better when it comes out after Star Citizen

That's not even what's bothering me the most

>Civ 6 art style according to IGN:
>That pointed to the need for an art style that looks just as good from far away as it does up close. “You want to make sure that things are readable from that distance, and one of the ways to do that is to really put an emphasis on shape and form. It’s obviously a little more readable if you have different silhouettes to things.”
>Let's make tanks huge single unit shits to have no idea about health from long range
>What are unit icons in Civ 5

That's from the devs themselves.

Also

>Hey, we need a WW2 tank for the first tanks in game
>We have the German tanks, not produced a lot, but powerful, good UI
>We got the T-34, still in use in the 1980s in the Warsaw Pact, one of the most produced tanks of the war, and a great icon of what was going to become the MBT

Icons are an excuse for bad graphics.

I don't like the art but I understand their reasoning. I've been playing with shipsets in Distant Worlds and the big, chunky looking ones ripped from Gratuitous Space Battles look better than the ones that came from EVE Online. It's not so much a matter of shape and form as of shape and detail. The details need to be as exaggerated as the form.

It's just too bad they forgot about the "looks good up close." The mountains still look crap.

Civ 5 had icons to recognize units up far and in strategic map mode, while having decent graphics up close. The icons still hid something good behind.

But yes, Civ 6 is just eye cancer up close. Just looks like a Facebook or mobile game now.

1.- 19 prescripted human civilizations inspired in real life countries. They include their own massive name lists (ships, people, planets), 'species', description and ruler title.

Anyone else love the tech system? It forces you to make so many tough decisions because you gotta take only 9 techs per era to stay relevant. I hated it at first because you end up having to choose between equally essential techs and in some eras you're forced to take the weapon and armor techs to avoid getting your asshole bullied so you're cut down to 7 for that era, but it grew on me.

It's fucking awesome.

It's a phase everyone goes through in the late midgame. Make sure you max out your sector tax and devote a few of them to energy. You power through it eventually and end up on +1,000 a month.

The Sector AI is substantially less retarded.
FPS slowdown in the endgame is slightly less retarded.
The UI is slightly less retarded.

Literally nothing else has been fixed. There is still no midgame, there is still no laregame other than crises, there is still no diplomacy, unceasing warfare is still the only path to victory rendering every other build pointless.

We were talking about custom empires a while back, so I figured I'd like to share one of mine:

>Hethi Concern

>Fanatic Individualist
>Materialist

>Nomadic
>Natural Engineers
>Solitary
>Enduring

>Mistrustful to a point of pride, the Torrivu evolved between the harsh Ghriff sun and their own merciless wildlife. The soul is the capacity to survive, and each Torr constructs their own church of sentry layers and minefields to ensure their salvation.
>The Hethi Concern was founded on the ancient belief that their eponymous planet struggling against (and eventually devouring) all life upon it. With the advent of climactic and tectonic evidence, as well as the introduction of spaceflight, the Hethi concern seeks salvation against every possible front - anyone or thing caught in the way is irrelevant.

I never really played a full warmonger type match in Civ 5. So im looking to start one up. Any suggestions/tips that a warmonger noob who is gonna be playing alot more aggressive then usual would probably not know that will make the match go smoother?

Fanatic Materialist/Spiritualist+Despotic Empire (-15% on buildings cost is very nice). Spiritualist is OP ATM, before nerfs. Free happiness? Free happiness!

>Industrious
It is good.

Or happiness build: pacifist/fanatic spiritualist+communal+adaptive + moral democracy. Joyfull on every tier 1 planet nearly from start (after you get void cloud event) +20% on everything is even better than +20%+10% on minerals in slave empire. But fuck primitives on planets, they could screw your early jumps hard.

This is 2 most OP builds ATM.
>>
Anyone else feel the prethoryn mechanics are really bad?
Invasions, purges, and how their worlds become barren when you bomb them essentially meaning they shoot themselves in the foot when they do expand when the worlds align and the ai is not that retarded.

Say for example a neighbour attacks me for a couple of planets I own. I get my shit kicked in, but eventually push them back to 10 or so warscore. Suddenly, a different neighbour declares war for their own reasons. Again, for whatever reason, I decide to NEGOTIATE a peace settlement with my original enemy whereby I acquiesce one particular planet, but also make the demand that they ban purging. Or I could cede all the planets they demanded and then, based on how many they took, require a stipend to be paid to me. Let's say 0.5% energy and mineral per pop, and 2% energy and mineral per planet, with a maximum of 2 and 5 respectively.

This game is so poorly fleshed out its terrible.

Big empires consuming the smaller ones and ignoring each other and two overwhelmingly powerful alliances block my ass into a corner.

Even if I got out I wouldn't be able to fight anyone because everyone has equal or more powerful fleet than mine and everyone's allied with each other.

Why can't we incite revolts, fund rebels and fight proxy wars by weaponizing rebels and stuff like that?

I wish there was one big civil war going somewhere so I'd have something to look at.

The only thing progressing in this game is research.

Just start wars with low warscore demands so you can beat them up real quick and the war is over before their allies can reinforce them from across the galaxy. You'll build momentum and be on your way to dat 40%. Also, when you're stronger, more peeps will want to be in federations with you.

all i've noticed is that your allies just flood your territories with immigrants.

>>

Didn't have any. Except possible xenophobia. And they occupy your tiles, what if they traits are not good enough? And since this access is usually reciprocity, your pops will also pack their bags and leave.

I actually saw my reptiloid friends electing my human migrant as a president. That was funny.

Different traits. Maybe be good to put them to work your tiles. For example they might be industrious and work your mines better. Or they are strong so you could make better armies (Not that it ever mattered)

Maybe even different preferences, but I'm not sure if they are going to migrate.

Perhaps you enjoy having as many races as possible in your empire as some kind of acheivement.

It really depends.

Check who wants the treaty, what kind of pops do they have, etc.

I used migration treaties to gain a bunch of intelligent bird people who are so happy to live on my worlds becasue they're xenophile.
And some sort of slug people and a kind of floating thing with tentacles which are both xenophile and charismatic, one of them are natural sociologists, the other are natural physicists.

And they're all super happy to live among my people, and help research, and they make my people happy.

Some of my people went to live in the bird people confederation, and I looks like the AI actually had a bunch of continental planets and my people live there.

And now that I type this out it all reads like some hippy bullshit everyone-is-happy story straight out of Star Trek.

More like after semi-failure of Civ5 and BE tanking, it's hard to to be HOYPED about the next civ game release.
I kinda can't want for it, but then I remember out of 800 hours spent in civ5, only less than 100 are taken by non-modded games. Which kills any enthusiasm.

I have a feeling they're going to fuck it up and slavery is going to go from super easy to use and absolutely zero resistance to non stop rebellion and it's impossible to use.
>>
>>146104623
Yes, that's my expectation too, particularly large scale slavery, from the sounds of their plans for the slave factions, I imagine if you've got a slave majority empire you'll just have constant uprisings as they reach critical mass rapidly.

For what purpose? The main target audience for civ games plays the game under assumption of AI civs being the source of hostile units and not some separate entities with their own and different goals. Literally the work for nothing, when the money can be spent on shilling to lure more of such players.

So I'm watching Quill play Stellaris, right?

Is it viable to only inhabit awful planets? I saw him run across a planet that fit his species, but was bleak and had hazardous weather. I want a race of people who suffer for life.
This may determine whether or not I buy the game.

Those sort of planet statuses are extremly minir disadvantages. You barely even notice them when you're actually playing the game.

So I suppose the answer to your question is "Yes, easily".

In all honesty with Stellaris games you're generally SUPPOSED to make meme playthroughs like that, because there aren't any real victory conditions, so you just sorta make your own fun by having your people suffer in amusing ways.
