The only worthwhile skills are pain barrier and restrain for everyone not named fencer or shinobi.
Fencers can max gung ho attribute without worrying about the def loss at all so its a nice damage boost even later on.
Shinobis clones can use swordsman skills which mean double slash goes from garbage tier to instant boss slayer (provided the boss hasn't already been raped by kunai).

Exp cards do just like they say, they give you a flat amount of exp.
This lets you decide between just questing away for exp cards to level or just grinding.

Early on they don't matter besides letting you level faster but later on they are essential to get past level gaps where theres no good grinding spots

I did a similar thing in kToS where I basically relied on the 175 dungeon and missions to level me. It was incredibly slow and tedious while also disappointing to see everyone else level up way faster than you. By the time I got to the 190 dungeon I was already pretty tired and quit around lvl 200. I would suggest against taking the slow option because it's boring as fuck and we aren't even certain when new content is coming.

Retrieve does lots of damage and is more than enough to kill just by itself, except it's single target and costs quite alot of sp and since it's single target, it's 1 use per target. If you stay with the group, everything gets killed so fast with aoe spam, you practically wasted that sp for nothing. But of course this doesn't mean you should run off far away. I normally attack mobs that are close to the group but out of the aoe range of the main mobbing.

So if you ever group with a hunter, make sure not to attack what his pet is attacking because his skills are more than enough to finish it off on his own. Don't waste his and your damage.
