It's not really anything special. Pretty mediocre overall, and this is supposed to hold us over until june 30th when the next patch drops. After hi-five so presumably part 1 of the summer patch.

MapleLegends is another great server, but I'd have to choose which one to stick with and I hate deciding on stuff like that.

There's a problem with that.
A lot of the lore has been changed/retconned over big patches, you'd need to have played during the older versions to get the real stories on some questlines, like some girl in Ellinia wanted to make pasta so you gotta go find her spaghetti sauce (I shit you not this was an actual quest) but now it's probably "Hey I'm making lunch can you go kill 100 slimes pls thx".

The classes are expansive, the original Adventurer classes have branching paths while the newer classes don't. The dragon class is Evan and holy SHIT is he getting a revamp soon (or did it already happen, I'm behind whoops).

I forgot to mention that each class has their own backstory and story quests which are pretty cool if youre into that sorta thing, i just explained the main stuff that kind of affected everyone

there's canon and non-canon content, since GMS gets content from all versions

kanna, hayato, and beast tamer are non-canon classes, but the custom stuff we get lets them join in on the canon stuff too, though sometimes they're broken for a while with new content

some of the non-canon stuff is pretty good world building but it never has to do with the overarching plot, so think of it like anime filler

I'm not opposed to new content or new classes. No, I don't think there should only be the original 4/original 4 + pirates.

However, I do believe that they should've focused more on finding niches and worked more on updating/expanding the map/mobs/etc.

You're kind of wrong. New content is inherently good, old versions of maplestory are completely barebones, and the only nostalgia people remember are levels 1-80. The rest of the game is a complete grind with little to no reward, depending on how much you value bossing.

And seriously, Zakum/HT is literally nothing more than holding down one key and having autopots heal you. It's boring.

5 classes are completely outclassed. (Paladins < Heroes, MM < BM, FP = IL < Bishop, Shadower < NL)

You're completely biased by your memories of the old game I'd wager haven't even touched the new game. See: night walkers were literally the most OP class for a while, they just recently got nerfed because of how powerful they were.

The map changes were a mixed bag. It's nice to centralize some points on the map and make it easier to get around, but I do think some of the older maps were more interesting and less point A to point B.

Maplestory became bad when the game became even more P2W. When cubes came out, when pam's song was a thing, platinum scissors...in a private server these are all mitigated.

Lots and lots of grinding, moreso than in other worlds where you can just trade people and sell things for money, but there's no p2w in reboot unless you count people paying for bots to afk farm

Scania/Bera/Windia are the most populated aside from reboot, most of us are on windia atm (that's not saying much, though)

There should be a little maple guide that tells you where to go, it's black with a big green button, or it has a picture of monsters on it. clicking on the monster pictures teleports you to where you need to go to grind.

But I liked it that way. Taking a month to get to level 30 was literally the dream.

Also, I was there when NW was OP. And I played new maple.

I quit shortly after phantom release and rejoined about 3 months ago, played for a few weeks, and quit.

People enjoyed the grind, and that's what companies like Nexon and Jagex seem to forget. The grind was part of the maplestory experience; not a black mark on it.

It was simple, easy to get into, and grind-filled.

I think all of us could agree that the grind wasn't a satisfying one. Runescape is a game where grinding feels good because you can realistically get a few skills to 99 if you put in the effort. BBB Maplestory goes completely fucking crazy past level 140, if not a bit earlier. I enjoyed playing until mid 3rd job because I knew the time I would need to invest to continue playing this would get out of hand quick. I hit 120 almost 4 years after making my character.

Maybe I'm a bit of a dirty casual or something. I just could not take maple's grind. Post BB does make me a bit happy to be able to hit 4th job in a much shorter time, and be able to actually do things high level players can do, like bossing or high level zones.

old maple was all about getting to the next job advance, you actually spent a lot of time as each one and when you finally got to 70 it was the best feeling. Even though the new attacks were shit until like 75, i would always put 1 point into them just for the animation

now half the jobs start at level 10, so you spend 20 then 30 then 40 then 150 levels as each advancement. 1st-3rd job are barely even there, you can get past that shit in 2 days.

They got rid of the good grind that actually had goals for you to reach and added the stale ass 180+ grind that is literally pointless
