So I followed the guide and finally got everything working, really impressed someone managed to make a guide retard-proof enough for me.

I have yet to install a game yet and I'm going to do more research tomorrow but if someone can answer a quick question I'd appreciate it. I downloaded FE Fates in .cia form, but the content restoration patches only accept .3ds files from what I can tell. Do I need to find a .3ds game file or does installing the .cia result in one I can use?

Whenever I try to install a cia using FBI manager I get "DESCRIPTION_INVALID_SIGNATURE".
Also the only time I managed to isntall a CIA it installed it in the sysNAND. Any ideas?

Nintendo servers encrypt the game. Invalid tickets which don't contain the valid titlekeys cannot decrypt the game on the 3DS. This leads to the error some people have where downloads get stuck on 99%.

Games that have a separate update than the game let you update with invalid tickets without issue. EShop only games like Shovel Knight which update the game by downloading and replacing the entire game will also get stuck at 99% and will not update.

Any idea why launching Decrypt9WIP via homebrew isn't working for me? It flashes red a few times then plops me back into the homebrew menu. I had the updates files in the /3ds/Decrypt9WIP folder. I'm on A9LHv2 + Luma 11.0. Before I'd just get into D9 through the Luma chainload but I changed that for H9.

The Undub comes in two variants:

Variant 1: Japanese audio, but English movies (good for first time players)
Variant 2: Japanese audio and Japanese movies (recommended for people who are replaying the game)

The reason for it is that the movies are hardsubbed, similar to how Funimation streams their anime.
Japanese movies have kanji subs hardsubbed into them, Englishb ones have english text hardsubbed.

Should 3DS movie format be reverse engineered in the future, then I'll make a v1.0 version of the undub.
It'll be using English movies but audio from the Japanese movies, remuxed together.
For now it's impossible due to the moflex video format used by some 3DS applications and games (SMT4 is one of them).

If there's any developer willing to reverse engineer 3DS's .moflex video format, I'd very much appreciate it.

just remember save right before you enter ichigaya (you will know what i mean when you get there). Keeping a save there will allow you to enjoy all the endings without having to go through a ng+ each time.

Getting the "true ending" (theneutral end) is very difficult, so i'd recommend following this guide: http://www.gamefaqs.com/3ds/672441-shin-megami-tensei-iv/faqs/67505?single=1

pay attention to alignment, it will affect which of 3 ending you will get.

I've only played Tales of Hearts R and Tales of the Abyss. I'd say in comparison to Hearts R, the combat is really barebones. I'm not a big Tales fan, but I'd guess this was one of the earlier games. The story and characters are top though, and the gameplay is just, basic Tales.

Zestiria is personally the worst of the most recent games. I couldn't enjoy it at all and the levelling system is atrocious. Abyss is far better and one of the more enjoyable games in the series. I just finished plailects's guide which left me with an EU n3ds with a Sys 11.0.0-33E CFW sysnand.

Everything seemed to work fine so I went and installed a few retroarch cores in .cia form along with the BIOS provided by the emugen wiki which I installed on /retroarch/system and /retroarch/cores/system (just to be sure).

Then I loaded one of the cores and tried to play a game, but I'd always get "cannot push NULL or empty core info into the playlist" just after startup and "does not have enough samples for monitor refresh rate stimation. Requires to run for at least 4096 frames" when loading a game, after which it would crash.

Updating Luma doesn't have any effect on being able to update the games or access the eshop. You've always been able to update safely because CFW has all the functions of the regular firmware and Nintendo can't differentiate between them AFAIK.
