The mechanics for HoI4 haven't changed terribly. They finally got rid of the useless espionage tab, and cleaned up the interface. They also did away with the ridiculous mechanic of having to form armies>corps>groups>divisions which was annoying. you also don't have to set up your own fronts and create your own fall back points. Now you just tell them what you want them to do and the AI is (seemingly) more intuitive. You can control divisions individually for some maneuvers like routing. So far I'm liking HoI4 the best though.

You had to do alot of the same stuff in three though for air support, which was annoying as fuck. I think the air mechanic of created a wing with as many planes as you actually want is fantastic compared to 3 where you could only have 100 planes in a wing. That was stupid. I like the air combat mechanic because I can keep planes in reserve to fill my existing divisions so if I need to shift my production focus I can and just count on having 400 or so planes in reserve until I start taking losses. I also only fly missions in the day time for more damage. Taking an "All Weather Specialist" is essential if you do CAS.

Honestly the production is cool, i like the unit designer. Except for the retarded points you have to use to design shit that is retarded and is just some artificial barrier that makes no sense. At the end of the day HOI3 is just so much better at combat, the way i like it anyways. Nice encirclements, combat depth and just that strategic planning that is great.

Feels much more rewarding then HOI4. Theirs some good features in HOI4 but at the end of the day the combat is god awful and you are almost forced to use the meme arrow offensives.

Hey guys. This is my first HPM campaign as Persia. It has been decent up until now, but there are 2 things I'd like to address.

1. I conquered a state from Afghanistan. It has a lot of Persians and Hazars (i think?), so I expected that everything should run smoothly. However, I noticed that it's administration effectiveness was at 0%. I tried encouraging some bureaucrats for some month, and while their number increased, administration remained at 0% What gives? Also WHY THE FUCK DO PERSIANS AND HAZARS GET "NATIONALISM" AGAINST ME EVEN THOUGH I AM THEIR CULTURAL KIN AND I LIBERATED THEM.

2. Shouldn't Persia get the event about the Kurdish unification incident? I was too occupied fighting in the east and I didn't even notice that my puppets were gone. I actually realized it by reading the newspaper about an Ottoman war. This is bullshit, giving you an event is essential for both gameplay reasons and flavor.

This very same artificial barrier existed in HoI3 as far as variant creation was concerned. You had to research better engines, weapons, etc to utilize them on your planes or ships. In HoI4 this system is detached from the research tree.

It's fundamentally the same thing. Spend time to get better weapons. One difference is that HoI4 requires you to use your equipment while in HoI3 you could just have it mothballed.

If you play as Japan it definitely screws you in Manchuria. The Manchurian airbase it lolcow useless, so you end up having to launch missions with tactical bombers from the mainland of Japan. You can upgrade airbases in China, but it's a gamble, because if you fail you basically wasted 6 months of production.

It's January the 1st 1941. Playing as Belgium. I kept at bay the wehrmacht for a whole year, even after both france and nl fell. All I had to do was going neutral brench, building 3 level forts in my provinces and stack the few divisions belgium can make.
AND, instead of fucking helping me, UK and france just kept throwing men worthlessly in Liguria and Latium. They lost nearly 400,000 men in endless, worthless, looped invasions.
Not to mention that Germany threw in total nearly 2 milion men in the benelux area without being able to conquer it.

I didn't even this could happen. Because Poland created Intermarium they were in their own faction and UK and France, despite allying each other in 36, never guaranteed Poland. So now Germany is at war with Poland, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia but not at war with France or the UK.

It's like this every battle has a set combat width and every units has a combat width as well, a division of 6 infantry battalions has a combat width of 18, so lets say you have a combat width of 80 you can have 5 of these infantry divisions fighting at the same time but if you had a retardedly big division like >>145504264 you could only have 1 of these divisions fighting at the same time. Also it's more of a supply issue because you can't use too many heavy divisions in a low supply area and the most important issue is coverage you can have the same amount of people cover a larger front if you have light divisions.

There is no inherent advantage or disadvantage in situation like the one you describe. Depending on the brigade choices it might actually make more sense to have one huge division as opposed to 2-4 smaller ones.

The advantages of the small divisions are way more significant outside of the battle though and this is why having 2 smaller ones is better than one of those massive divisions.

First of all you will be able to cover more ground. Lets say you expect an invasion a 40 width unit could defend, you can just station 2 20 width divisions there and have the other 2 doing something else. On the other hand if you only have 80 divisions available you waste 40 points holding that province to overkill. Similarly it works on offense too. Additionally you can fit divisions better to the combat width if the base unit is smaller. Again from the anon up top if the combat width is 80 his division will either be short 34 or over the cap by 12. A smaller base division can negate these losses.

Then there is the advantage of better customization. If you separate your armor from your infantry you can then position your armored units where they are needed most and they aren't stuck there where you need the infantry. Same with for example anti air capable divisions.

Then there is mobility, 1 big division can only defend one province, 2 smaller ones can encircle it and get a big combat buff or simply bypass it and head for some important target.

Lastly there is supply. If an area can support 15 supply use it could maximally house only 4 of anons divisions without attrition. While that might be enough total combat width to cover the area, it's still only 4 provinces. If the area has 7 edge provinces you are just boned.

There's a commander skill that modifies own combat width by -10%, so you can give specific armies slightly larger divisions. Also, some combat tactics modify width. I'm not sure if there are any that increase it, but I know I've seen it change.

One thing I forgot to mention is that support companies feel like they are super efficient so 2 small divisions can have 10 support companies as opposed to just 5. If you are using the combat companies then that is a big thing, obviously utility companies are the same if there is 1 or 2 of them like the field hospital or logistics company.

Haven't done the math or anything on that but just a hunch. I like to use a 2 by 2 square of infantry, military police + AA company as my rear guard units for example.

Help me, anons. Playing as Gypsyland. After declaring war of Iraq, game started lagging on even in-game hours (in intervals of 2, 4, or 8 hours)
It always happens on exactly even hours. If you pause it (even on odd hours), it'll lag at same exact times.
Even if I pause it, it happens exactly at that time.
Tried to change settings, restarted multiple times, looked in my own system, etc. Nothing happened.
