Diagnosed with severe depression a few years ago, decided to start university to prove myself I could do something. Long story short I failed. Does anyone else feel like Hisao has an estranged relationship from his parents? I understand its not really critical to the plot and would have been tedious to portray such minor characters who are only present in the prologue but I feel that there are some uncomfortable implications about Hisao given how detached he is from them. Even Iwanako and his former friends are given more focus than them.
Isn't it hypocritical on some level that he tries to pity Hanako for losing her parents when he admits they were largely absent from his life or when he criticizes Jigoro despite not reaching out to his parents at all? Does he accept Lilly wanting to go to Scotland to rekindle her relationship with her parents because of his situation? I'd like to see this aspect of Hisao explored.

I understand that Hisao is mostly a blank slate for the reader to project themselves onto and his parents suffer as a result. It's just what's there doesn't exactly paint the picture of a happy family. Hisao had emergency money to take a quick cab trip to Shizune's house/airport. Is that because he's just really prepared or do his parents usually leave him money for such emergencies? He played a lot of games as a kid, none of them he was actually passionate about but just to kill time. Just an ordinary childhood or was he left stagnating without any push from his parents? Hisao doesn't have a plan for his future, not even before his heart attack. Typical teenage lack of foresight or does he not want to be a salaryman like his parents and work all day?
You can see why this would be an interesting thing to build character off of.

After she threw her little tantrum over us having a miscommunication, she proceeded to tell me how much of a piece of shit I am, etc. and that I need to drive her down there and immediately leave after dropping her off so she can sleep on the floor because I don't have a job to give her money for a hotel, and so she can crash the jeep driving back because she isn't fit to drive. Then she made me apologize to her saying it's my fault she's a psychotic bitch.
so basically a tl;dr on the whole situation -
I need to get down there to get my jeep and clean out the storage unit and house, but I have no way of getting there myself without abandoning her car, and she isn't well enough to drive 5 hours. If I take a train, I miss the uhaul pickup and have no one to drive me the half hour to my old house at 10 at night, and the storage units aren't 24 hours.

Yes I was forced to quit and I can't find a new job out here. Apparently no one out here needs and IT Tech. They sure need a fuckton of auto mechanics though....Which reminds me, she screamed at me for not finding a temp agency while she had the car for a few days and somehow expected me to walk like 3 hours on the side of a freeway to get to one in the closest major city.

So when I was having trouble getting down the stairs and was limping when she called me down, it set her off and she flipped her shit at me. Basically said I wasn't allowed to limp or be sore because "I don't know what real pain is like" and that she does so much more work than I do and she's a hundred times sicker, etc.
