If we go by that logic you'd have to remake every single fucking human model. Mutants as well. Not worth it in the slightest because while the models are ugly as they're consistent, and in the end that's the thing that matters the most.

As for weapons? There are like 4 decent weapons packs - and the one that will put them all to utter shame will eventually come out - if you aren't willing to rip that shit off other mods, or you don't have the knowledge for ripping them off other games.
Environment textures? Absolute.
As for everything else? You can just rip it off other mods and nobody would care. Everyone and their mothers does that, everyone and their mother made an AMK meme merge.

And moreover, unless you're trying to do something "ambitious" like Gunslinger the guys that handle graphics will be subordinate to the guy that handles the coding, not the other way around.

1: I know jackshit about coding, and I'm not willing to put any effort in what I have in mind unless I'm sure I have the right knowledge on how to do it (including but not limited to how shit works without having any documentation, figuring out what drunken slav spaghetticode means)

Way to misunderstand what I'm saying. My point is that people grew accustomed to the shit character/mutant models and it isn't worth it to put effort into those because plebs don't fucking care about them looking downright terrible, and plebs don't care about the lack of animations either.

That doesn't mean that I wouldn't want to see actually good looking character models, but that's something you either entirely commit to or don't, otherwise the result looks like shit (look at all the mods that add character models from Metro and add a few OC ones, they look entirely out of place).

Weapons are a completely different matter, and a moot point, because, as I said, there are plenty of weapons packs, all of them look good (red dots aside), it isn't 2008 anymore.

Clear Sky was great in a lot of ways but the railroaded linearity, badly balanced faction wars, and engine crashing ruined a lot of it.

I still think CS was the best game visually and atmospherically. The first half of the story was also the best in the series.

Armorfag here.
I was doing handmodels wrong and didn't notice until I got about 75% of them done, gotta redo them.
Done with most everything else. Helmet overlays if you're into that thing, got it tagged on as optional with both vanilla and AO3 support. Mine will at least look a lot better than the two available on modbb.

Added some more helmets, hats, scarfs, armor, and clothing in.
66 regular outfits
30 unique outfits
35 headslot stuff
I'll try to double that all once I finish player models for at least most of them.

I still have to add in world spawns, trader shit, and world item-models. Also thinking about an optional balance tweak that starts you off with shitty garbage-bag/regular clothing gear and spreads out the armor progression a lot more to the point where your first actual armor feels like a really nice find.
Probably going to just make it so most armors are rarer on traders and cost a lot more than they do while making regular clothing/junk more prevalent and low-cost. Double repair costs on outfits too.
That's all going to be optional too if I do it.

Was wondering if I should do some unique enemies that drop some of the unique armors but went against it because that sounds obnoxious.

I am ALL for this, i loved the unique armor in SoC that you could only get from certain places, like Ghost's suit, the healing Beril e.t.c. i would love this tb h. But make it so it makes sense, like a unique merc suit will be dropped by a fucking expert merc e.t.c., not just random drops, but thats my opinion anyway,

Can we start a discussion to come up with a good, well thought out response on why there's no women innaZone, and if they do add them, what they should be like?

My argument so far has been that while there a lot of women who like adventure, entering The Zone is basically like going to a war torn African country for "adventure", everyone who goes in there knows they'll probably end up robbed, dead or raped, and those chances are only more likely if you are female.
I'm not saying there wouldn't be women in the zone, or women who wouldn't try to pass as men, it's just that they are going to be a noticeable minority to the point that your average cheeki is never going to see one.

If they do add female stalkers to meet, they shouldn't be model perfect or even pretty. They should be a little more like Payday 2's Clover, Bonnie and (to a lesser extent) Sydney, women who look like they get into fights and can handle themselves out here just like how most of the men are depicted. Most women who head into the zone are going to be desperate and only doing it to get enough money to leave their shitty living and get the hell out of there.

Damage might be a little... insane at first; with the ridiculous amount of bullet flyby sounds I have in WS and the damage, it makes for a pretty intense experience that I love. I'm adjusting the k_ap values to be witin the range of [0,0.75] now, but hit_powers are pretty high I believe. I'll likely put out a nerfed version of the ammo variants later on tonight or tomorrow after release.

It's easy to tweak with an excel sheet luckily. Once I finish my config editor it will be even easier. Right now it just exports selected values from sections to an excel file, but I'm going to have it be able to import the excel sheets as well and use that.

But for the muzzle velocity, I'll use the m4a1 nad m16a3 as an example. Right now, the muzzle velocity damage bonus for m4a1 is 0.11 and the bonus for the m16a3 is 0.12. I can just change the damage coefficient in the excel sheet to get larger differences or decrease it to get less noticeable than that; though I think the settings I have now are pretty ok.

SGM doesn't run well in the first place. CoP is already known to be rather stutter-happy, and SGM adds a shitton of pretty much everything to it, which makes it unbearably worse. CPU pretty much shits the bed when you approach Yanov or Skadovsk. It has to load so much shit at once that you have a three-second stutter because of it.
I wouldn't advise anyone ever touching the mod unless they have a PC that they know they can rely on, %100.

I just have a few more things to finish up. Regardless of its state I'm posting it before I go to sleep and will fix it up later on. A lot of it has to do with reticle animations not syncing up entirely, but then again, that's something I can patch as soon as tomorrow very easily I guess.

Yeah this is like the only game I've played for a year or so. It's way too fun, especially since its so moddable.


Gonna do a couple test spawns in WS to make sure traders don't cause crashes (it shouldn't, was using them before), then I'll zip it up. Traders aren't complete yet, I'll be fleshing them out more tomorrow at work, but you should be able to find ammo for most stuff. I'll also be updating tomorrow afternoon to use correct world models. Right now only the 16x9 ratio offsets are correct but I'll fix the 4x3 early tomorrow after I wake up, won't take long at all.

I'm probably going to create a bitbucket repo tomorrow for WS, and move warfare over to a new one just because I might as well.

Also, didn't mention this before, but there are two other grenade types in WS: rgn, which is similar in size to the rgo, and the rgs, which is a shock grenade (in shoker i think it was acidic?). You won't see many rgs grenades though from npcs.

Alright, started zipping up the WS preview. I am sure there will be weird things, hence me using preview, and if you aren't using a 16x9 ratio you'll have to wait until tomorrow for me to update the config files. That will be the first thing I do, probably around 1pm GMT-5. Going to create a repo for the scripts and configs tomorrow most likely as well so I can keep that updated, with meshes being put on mega. I wouldn't recommend this if you are sensitive to things being weird; this will be an ongoing project from here on out that I will update.

7zip is estimating 27 minutes, uploading will probably take the same. I'll be awake 5 hours after I post the link most likely, but I want to reiterate, this is a preview. Though I've had at least one person playing it with warfare a decent amount and he seems to be enjoying it.

Merge the gamedata directory from patch 1 with the weaponsoup directory. In the main zip file, under gamedata\WARFARE PATCH\ you'll find another gamedata directory. If you want to use folder merge that with the weaponsoup gamedata directory. A little weirdly placed in the zip file but whatever.

This is just a preview, to let people mess around with things and all that. Went on a little trip through cordon and garbage and it seemed fairly stable and pretty fun in firefights. I don't have the 3d pu scope in just yet, but I'll be doing that along with the acogs. Reticle animations still need tweaking, but they are pretty good for the most part. There are bound to be plenty of weapons without the name strings, and some sounds that are off - I'll be fixing those especially as I have time to actually play WS. As far as compatibility, you're kinda on your own until I get focusing on that kind of thing, but if something works with the other weapon packs without a patch it SHOULD work with this.

I do not recommend you use this unless you are completely ok with some odd stuff going on at times. This isn't a finished mod, it is a preview that will be molded over time. But I got to get to sleep now, I have work in 6 hours. Let me know about crashes of course. The reticle script will be updated to deal with side stepping soon as well, probably tomorrow. I also haven't finished credits, so on the off chance anyone sees anything of theirs be aware that I will be doing this very soon.

Definitely make a backup of your current gamedata directory. I haven't had crashes with it in a while but you never know, plus I'm sure some people will find it unplayable due to various reasons.

4x3 aim offsets are not done but I will be doing these when I get to work at 12pm GMT-5. World models will also be finished tomorrow.

Beginning to wonder why I, or anyone, ever thought the VSS was a good rifle. It's useless. All that velocity reduction, and for what? Enemies can see me almost perfectly in the dark so it's useless for nights. If I snipe them from a distance during the day they seem to know where I am regardless.

Switched to a SCAR, it even has a grenade launcher. It seems the game is easier when you play without a silencer and just let everyone know exactly where you are so you can pick them off as they run over to you.

Yeah I've been going through, think I got most of them. I fixed the m60, fn57, cz52, fort12, fort17, beretta, various revolvers, an94, famas, ak102, ak105 + ak9, and m16a1 grenade launcher. Gonna make a lower damage option and fix starting loadouts and upload it, should be pretty soon.

the galil and aks are misaligned also I think the gauss zoomed in is misaligned because it's just a black screen.

A lot of this is pretty quick to fix, the main thing is finding what needs fixing. On my own that takes a lot longer than this. And yeah someone posted that, it was a shitty CSS vz58 model I found. Was seeing how it looked in stalker. I didn't like it and forgot to remove it.

The BAP compatibility patch MIGHT cause it if they updated after I did the patch. I haven't really been maintaining that especially since they are apparently going to be adding a lot of what it does into the new update for coc. I'll mess around with things and see if I can reproduce it once I get this WS patch out. Just fixed the PM animations so I just gotta zip it up I think and correct a couple sounds. Try changing factions_own_starting_levels to true in warfare_options and start a new game, though I'm not thinking that'd be the issue.

If they are spawning with good equipment then that just means that they are higher ranking. The player uses the same random weapon code as the NPCs. I do have an old random player weapon system I wrote a bit back that I could use again though, or I could make the player spawn with slightly better weapons, or I could make the NPCs spawn with worse weapons.

Armorfag here, I'm taking a break from redoing the handmodels I fucked up and just working on adding in more variants of suits and new handmodels. I forgot the gorka suit completely, working on its icon and world model/texture now. If you got any more armor suggestions lay them on me throughout the week, this is the time to do it.
Once I get back home on Monday I'm going to stop adding new outfits until I catch up on all the rest of the work.

Also can't get WS until I'm on a more stable connection, this train wifi is as good as you could hope for on a train. Good job anyway, Werejew.

Fixes pm and pmm reload animation. fixes aim offsets for these weapons: ak9, ak102, ak103, ak105, akm, aks, aks74u, an94, beretta92, cz52, various revolvers, famas, fn57, fort12 + fort17, galil, m16a1 heatshield grenade launcher offset, m60, stg44, and vintorez crosshair not disappearing. Disables the sight system flickering for now, and uses vanilla starting loadouts (I may add in the quick release later on idk).

Knives and nades run.

Pacifist run. Go to a specific location far from starting location without killing anything.

Assassinate faction leaders.

Wipe out faction bases.

Collect one of each artifact.

Collect each unique weapon and armor.

Only save when you get to a camp or other safe area (or iron man but that can piss some people off).

What would you recommend if all I want is; better graphics, more guns(bolt actions?) and optionally more vanilla-style content?
