Cheat Engine guide (how to chainsaw, etc.)

for finding survivor items:
>run cheat engine
>click the green-highlighted computer icon in the top left corner
>find deadbydaylight-win64-shipping and select it
>search for an item that you have equipped on a survivor using: exact value, 8 bytes, and the number from the pastebin: http://pastebin.com/vCh6gxR6 (some of the numbers might be off by a little bit)
>click next scan using the same number a few times to filter out the addresses with changing values
>change the item that is equipped to another item, and search again using that new item's value
>eventually it'll whittle down to only a few addresses, right click one and choose "change value of selected address" and change it to a different item
>in the game, switch to a different survivor and switch back to see if the item has changed, repeat through the address list until you find the right one and double click it to add it to the bottom list of saved addresses

For finding the killer's item address:
>the address that it gives you for the survivor is in the ballpark of the address for the other survivors and the killer
>when you search for 608 or 767 (for blank space/bear trap), you can narrow down the results by trying the addresses near the one you already found
>it's harder to find the killer's item because you can't change it in game regularly, so it's all trial and error

you can do the same process to switch perks and addons

the addresses should/might start with 10*

Let's talk about how to fix the game:

-Increase time it takes to unhook someone
-Give toolbox less charges
-Decrease time it takes it takes to pick up an incapacitated survivor
-Allow person being healed to cancel the process
-Remove hatch from the game. It encourages unhealthy game behavior (i.e. hiding in a cupboard until everyone else dies)
-Fix points system. Remove caps for score (if I get all 5 generators I shouldn't rank down because I didn't juke the killer for 5 minutes or run in and out of his basement)
-Make map not useless
-Instead of outright destroying the hook, sabotaging a hook will make the hook break as soon as a survivor is placed on it, giving him a chance to escape, similar to what happens if you step on your own trap as the killer. This will add a new element to the game. Do you risk losing a kill because a hook might be booby trapped, or do you carry your kill all the way to the basement, risking dropping him?
-Survivors breathing calms down after not running for a bit. This includes the noise you make while sitting in a cabinet, however you can't regain your breath while inside the claustrophobic closet.
-Option to remove Dwight's glasses

Other than the usual neon/v/ shenanigans, I feel like the game actually requires the player to have the knowledge, skill and stay focused in order to be successful, and that's where the game really shines - when you do something dangerous or outright crazy and pull off whatever you wanted to. There is no instant gratification like in mainstream games, you have to work for it - and while the game has simple concept and controls it's nowhere near being easy.

Scrubs got rekt and fucked off - and nothing of value was lost.

I don't really get the desire for voice chat and parties. If you want to group up in a 4 to take on a killer than just host a private game with another person being the killer and you can use something like discord. There's zero reason for there to be party matchmaking in this game unless you are actually setting out to be in an overpowered 4v1 to fuck over a killer, who has to work completely alone.

At the most I would maybe be ok with you being able to queue up with 1 person, because then it still isn't an entire team communicating, but overall it doesn't seem necessary.

I just want a quickchat with quick commands like 'help me', 'let me help you', 'follow me', 'fuck off', 'I'll distract the killer' etc.
You can either whisper them to people in small area or shout to have a larger aoe. Killer can listen to everything too, assuming he's in the zone.
Some nice taunts for both sides would be cool too.

If they land on a survivor, then they latch onto them in the air and have to jump/swing from tree to tree to drop them on a hook.

Survivors have to climb up the tree in order to save their friend.

Teleportation is fine, but you shouldn't be able to teleport right into someone's face, or even too close to them. It should be for cutting them off over great distances. They run from one building to another, you teleport to the building and wait a minute or so for them to get there. They come in, don't see you, and get killed.

In all seriousness though, here's some tips that have done me good

1) You want to keep the enemy team paranoid. Do constant rounds across generators. Don't investigate too much. Pop in and move out. You have a lot of shit to patrol.
2) When you spot your first fucker, cut his ass up. If you're feeling confident that you can deal a finishing blow, do it, otherwise let him run because...
3) You're going to track his ass. Learn how to spot the scratch marks and how to follow them. You will be amazed how many idiots decide to sprint the entire time. If you doubt that you can bring someone down because they're out juking you, cut them and let them run ahead a bit. Then follow their tracks and listen to their whining. The reason you should let them run is because...
4) Survivors are morons and cowardly lot and at least 2 of them will tend to stick together. If they feel like they're safe, they'll group up and start pampering each other's asses. This gives you 2 new survivors to fuck around instead of just 1. If they run away and split, chase the stronger one, ignore the weaker one. The weaker one will be more careful about stepping in to repair generators. However, there is an exception.
5) Kill all Toolbox or Medkit shitters. These will absolutely ruin your day. If they split up, decide based on this order. Toolbox > Medkit > Srong > Weak. Flashlight and Map are jokes.
6) Do not hook someone unless they're right next to a hook. Otherwise you're wasting your time and buying the enemy team time. The second you take someone down, you have the momentum on your side, and if you spend those precious seconds looking for a hook, you'll be taken for a fool. Everyone knows exactly where a killer is when he's about to hook someone. But no one fucking knows where he is when you just leave the fucker on the ground.

7) Traps, Traps, Traps, Traps. Trap the most visited areas. The landmarks, exit switches, below hooked victims, on high traffic vault areas. Trap that shit ASAP. My priorities are always Exits > Vault Heavy Areas > Landmarks with Chest > Hooked victims. Another good idea is to trap those maze areas that have a shit load of palettes. Place a trap right in the middle and watch as those shitters step into one because they thought they were slick.
8) Don't waste your time with fuckers who are vaulting back and forth in a house or shack with 2 windows. Count to 10. If you can't get them in 10 seconds, fuck off and move on. They're distracting you and securing their own victory.
9) Do not baby sit hooked victims. Trap'em and move on.
10) If some motherfucker thinks he's smart with his flash light to save his friend, hold R to drop your prize. You'll get blinded, but their friend won't be getting up, and now the moron has exposed himself to you and run away.
11) If you come across a teabagger who's standing at the exit gates. Disconnect
12) When there's only 2 survivors left, and you've downed one, do not hook him. The second you hook him, you've practically guaranteed the other's victory if they know where to find the escape hatch. If you let him bleed out, you'll buy yourself time to find the other fucker, or use him as bait to bring the other one out. If you have time, trap the hatch.

You have to outsmart them, which is tricky because first you need to know how smart they are. When you see someone running towards a vault/drop, dont bother following them, start running around, but DONT commit completely, wait at the halfway point to see if they double back. Survivors who think they're clever will do that, jump through a window, wait for you to turn and jump back through. Simply by taking a few steps to the left or right before turning back, you'll catch them vaulting right into your arms.

It works because you're skipping a step and buying yourself a shit ton of time in the process.

When you hook someone, you have to pick up that piece of shit, drag that useless body to the hook, and attach it to the hook. That all takes time way from you that you could he suing searching.

Then there's the recovery. Picking someone up from a crawl who didn't heal themselves takes far longer than unhooking someone. If they did recover, the amount of time is comparable to an unhook anyway. That's not to mention that for some reason people are dumb enough to risk getting caught with a pick up more often than an unhook, so that's an even better bait than hooks.

Don't get so cocky though. A successful sacrifice is one less shitter to worry about for you and increases the work the other team needs to do. Hook wisely.

I don't know, Jason that can just insta-wreck you on nearby environment with teleportation and clairvoyance doesn't seem that scary to me; stumbling upon insidious trapper and then running into his well-placed beartrap is way more stressful than Jason casually walking up to the bed you're hiding under and stabbing it a few times.

while I agree with you, it does seem to have a lot of potential and I'm sure they can balance the teleportation later with long cool downs or removing the short distance tp and keeping the map wide one but adding a limiter or something like only outside and in a shadow. Plus what one anon said about DBD is pretty accurate, the survivors feels too strong right now. From what we've seen in F13 there will be multiple goals for the counselors to individually work towards or work together. And it's not necessarily an instant kill because the one prep counselor managed to wiggle out of his grasp pretty darn quick. I'm sure if you go as pairs you can help eachother against jason. Also jason isn't immortal according to the devs and you can fight back against him using conventional weapons, not just end game goals like opening a gate and escaping. Either way I've already purchased DBD and am looking forward to more of F13 before making a decision on that.

DbD is by no means a perfect game but the way you can actually bend the odds in your favor if you're really good and focused is a huge merit in my eyes, also it's a horror-stylized game but if you know what you're doing there aren't that many jumpscares if at all, just a clear ruleset and constant tension so it's all about thinking clearly and acting calmly while under stress and not memeing around a teleporting clairvoyant Jasun that can permanently off you in just 5 seconds.

All we can do is wait and see, but I'm not exactly holding my breath here.

When the doors open most often it's gg already so the killers will try to secure as many kills as they can without taking unnecessary risks.

I never make noise to attract attention, almost always the killer won't even budge so it's a waste of time plus he'll also learn from which direction I'll probably come from.

If there is still some time left to help a hooked survivor and he/she wasn't a complete fucking retard that will only get me killed I run to the cover near the hook and sneak around waiting for the opening.

That being said, I'll never risk it when I'm wounded myself or when the killer is babbysitting the hook/beartrapped it.

It all depends on how the situation is. If they've been grabbed right by the gate and all the hooks are down so they're being carried back to the rape shack then I usually tag along behind the killer to try and provide some distraction once they manage to flee. If they've been caught in a beartrap you definitely want to race over there and get the killers attention away from them. If the killer has hooked them, baited the trap and is standing around waiting for someone to show up there's simply nothing to do but leave them.

I'm certain that I've been/seen someone get hooked by being downed trying to save the person at the last moment and getting downed, only to be hooked right after the previous person was claimed by the spider god or whatever it is.

I think its the other way around i find the survivors extremely boring and not scary/tense at all.My first game as a survivor had me going after that it was just Meh so easy to avoid killers just crouch in a corner as he blindly walks by and just go about your business.

I look forward to playing a few games as a survivor against a wraith though.

So how long is this game expected to have an active community? The beta was fun, but I'm reluctant about buying a game that will become unplayable in a few months.
