The best ships for practising torps are the IJN DDs, because you can remain undetected and focus on torps solely.

The only time you should be firing torps blind is when you are trying to flush a DD out of its smoke. Of course, if someone else has spotted a ship that's out of your LOS, that's not blind: if the enemy is coming around a corner towards you that's the perfect opportunity to launch some unavoidable torps (and a great way to play low- and mid-tier US DDs, due to their short range torps).

The aim indicator is perfect for ships that are maintaining a constant course and speed. For ships that aren't, you need to adjust your aim. Try locking on to ships as they manoeuvre (they don't have to be in torp range for this) and watching the aim indicator swing to get a feel for how it works. When ships are bow on, the required firing solution can change wildly, so it's only a viable shot at extreme close range.

How to fix T10:

Nerf everyone's range
Buff everyone's maneuverability


T10 is characterized by these two core things. All ships are less maneuverable. All ships have much longer range. This means no closing distances to fight because you cant maneuver to dodge. This means sitting at much longer ranges and trying to line up shots that take more than 9s of flight time to land.

For some reason WG thought this made for fun and comfortable gameplay.

My personal view is that the existence of ammunition detonations in this game adds a needed element of tension and excitement into the game. It rewards players for constantly firing at enemies, even without a perfect firing solution/lead angle, because every single salvo they sent out has that tiny chance of a reward. Conversely, players MUST treat any incoming salvoes seriously because it might happen to them. None of the impervious armour thing we see in some tanks in WoT, where they can simply expose part of themselves and fire with impunity because they know they can't be killed. Any shell sent towards you has to be taken seriously because it might be the one that sends you back to port early.
