if you know where to look online, some people are also giving away any tradable item in the game (most often requested to drop +10 weapons +2 rings)

That WebM illustrates it perfectly. The goal was for me to come up with an easy to follow/imitate strategy to beat her for people doing around 200 damage, didn't rely on parries, and then to do it perfectly.

I had come up with the basic strategy in about 30 minutes. Any one playing through normally would have been able to win with just that. It took a bit longer, but I eventually mastered it and did it flawlessly.

The difference here is what is the goal, is the goal to have a strategy that makes it easier for people to win, or to do it flawlessly. They aren't the same thing.

No you can't get banned for this. I mean I don't trade with anyone but I have a bunch of backup saves at different SL's and I've respec'd and re-slab'd probably over 100 times at this point and never had any problems.

If it helps, FROM specifically encourages people to back up their saves, because of the potential for hacking. Honestly even if you went into offline mode and just used CE to hack in all of the items you wanted (that were normal items not with fucked up stats or anything) you'd probably be fine as well.

Holy fuck, the update made some spells and pyromancies fucking amazing.

Remember this pyromancy? Remember trying it once and immediately regretting wasting souls on it when it wound up for two centuries and did no damage? Well guess what.

It now launches AS FAST AS COMBUSTION and only does SLIGHTLY LESS than a Fire Orb on top of doing a shotgun blast attack. It's now my favorite PvE pyromancy and you can catch low-health runners with it in PvP like nobody's fucking business. Try it.

Pyromancy is faster and more unpredictable. Good against groups too. A better choice if you want to go aggressive and balls deep. Sorcery on the other hand can be really tricky against ganksquads and is best used if you've got another faithful or spirit engaging them letting you attack from range and play carefully.

I would use CE but I feel like it is not guaranteed because of the invalid game data message you could get when you do happen to go online (unless you know if it always works/goes unnoticed if you only do items, not crazy stats/values altering). I used CE back in DS2 and I had a good experience with it.

The point of Giant Dad is that it is accessible. The entry level skill required to play a Giant Dad is extremely low, and the skill ceiling for mastering it is only basic PvP interactions like dead angling. It was very popular because it was very simple, a straightforward build that gets you ahead mainly on raw numbers. Any idiot can pick up and play a Giant Dad "effectively", because the aim of a Giant Dad build is not to reward skill, it's to minimize the player's disadvantages.

Metagame doesn't mean the best or most viable tactics, it means making decisions about how to play the game based on information that is not inherently part of the game.

Take for instance when the CMWMLGS was the most commonly used weapon in DaSII. It was "metagaming" to equip magic defense items and bring a Magic Magic Shield.

Giant Dads existing in any significant enough number to influence decisions about PvP means they're part of the Meta even if they're not the most optimized part of it. In practice it would be something like weapons that were good against the Zweihander becoming better in the Meta the more players you encounter using Zweihanders, you see?

Actually the metagame refers to what builds people are playing in general. Not necessarily the best, but the ones that are seen most often. For example in magic the gathering it'd be like in a tournament of 10 people, 5 people are playing burn decks, 3 people are playing mono green beatdown, 1 person is playing U/w control and 1 person is playing suicide black. If you knew the meta you'd want to bring a deck that is best against burn, preferably also pretty good against mono green beatdown, maybe with a few sideboard cards that give a nod to the last two but you're far more likely to run into burn (50%) or MGB (30%) than the singleton decks.

So actually the other guy was right about it being what's commonly true. You're technically wrong, the best kind of being wrong.
