It feels a bit like Dynasty Warriors, in that you play as a single dood mowing down hordes of doods by spamming Square and Triangle and occasionally a stronger dood shows up that you need to use your specials on. This is especially true if you equip the beam naginata.

The best part though is the building and making your own gunpla. There's some cool cutscenes too. At the end of Chapter 1 a giant Perfect Grade sized Gunpla is about to smash Misa's gunpla, so you jump in and stop its fist and the game zooms in on your mecha being all shonen protag and it's a really cool moment.

The game was super short, no grade, can't edit your arte bindings in battle, among other things. The bad reaction that Tempest got caused them to create the Mothership/Escort classification system just as a way to back-peddle and say "oh, relax, this wasn't a REAL Tales game".

Honestly, remake Tempest would've required them to makes an entirely new game from scratch practically. I can see why Namco decided not to bother since the sales of the other R games weren't too hot. Its still sucks because Hearts/Innocence R were a breath a fresh air since they provided a more traditional experience compared to the newer console Tales.

Fuckfuckfuckfuck no Levia no you are so close can't let you die now fuck

Got Trillion under 100,000 and broke its armor so that regular attacks behind could deal over 10,000 damage per hit, but for fucks sake I could only get two instances when I was able to dish more than one hit before the attacks started to come. In the end, Trillion got past the border and killed Levia just when her mana was running out. For fucks sake it's so close but still so far away, I don't want to lose Levia. Got a lot of skill points but can't really do much other than use them for that Armor Break skill and some points to attack and speed. Really lacking in the speed department, even though I trained a lot of fireball dodge.

That part tugged my heartstrings in a way I have to give the game respect. This is how you make character interactions.

Fucking hell, just a little bit more speed might make the difference. Also, I got a skill with Mammon that let me do multiple regular attacks in one turn, but I think it only applied in the Valley of Swords. Does it actually stack physical attack damage four times during attacks, or does it just affect when hitting treasure chests? I didn't get that skill with Levia since it was some event skill that didn't appear during training Levia.

I DID IT I BLOODY DID IT

Oh man, I haven't felt this accomplished after beating a boss in a long time. Of course it helps how the game was centered around the one big boss fight, but still, holy bajeez. My mana was just starting to run out and Trillion was two lunges away from the border.

I'm still overly excited over my victory and the ending scenes, so much awesome. I can't bloody believe some asshats reviewed this game with such shitty scores and they were the first ones to go public, I really hope they didn't affect too many potential buyers away from it. Trillion is easily 4,5/5 game for me, maybe even 5/5 if I happen to like all the other characters' routes.

I mean I bought this game because I thought I would like it, but I had no idea it would have been THIS awesome.
