I've been playing since season 1-2.

Season 5-6 are the best ones so far.
Map overhaul, all new champions are absolutely amazing from a gameplay and design point of view, balance is a lot better than in the past.
The only thing i am unhappy about is the fact there's still those 10 champions absolutely no one plays and those 10 champions everyone plays.
Except from that, me and my friends are having a lot more fun now than in the past.

The game feels like a very shitty job what you must attend and it has minimal entertainment value, thus I think It fails as a video game, at least for me.

The powercreep, the same champion picks, the same builds with very minor changes to gameplay, same tactics, Riots retarded pandering and carebear policy, and the biggest of all: the playerbase itself.
I'm not a pro hardcore gamer on some shit, and I have seen a lot of things, but I can certainly say that this game has the most awful playerbase of any online videogame.
Riot itself is not better either, their balance team doesn't even play the game, The champion unlocking procedure is a pain in the ass too, and the skin prices are abysmal for what you get, what most likely looks mediocre at best ingame. Riot also panders to the most fucking garbage players too, the perfect example is when they fuck up and play off their troll cards, and if you type in chat fuck off you are the one who gets banned, not the guy who fucked up 40+ minutes of your life.
And that too games are way too very long now, and nto enjoyable. Dynamic queue makes it even fucking longer.

Even in this very thread a lot of people's experience with non-League video games is pretty limited. I played most of those, and I started league back then in s1 because it was easy to jump into. But on other hand this game feels like a very shitty habit.
I say that the very moment I started to understand the game's basics it became less enjoyable.
Not much will change because the game character wise is more interesting than the gameplay itself, and I plan on more or less to axe videogames in my life. Not completely but quitting league would be a big as fuck chunk.

This is actually a pretty common and interesting balance discussion.
When a champion has its weaknesses balanced by being "difficult", this ends up simply meaning "overpowered" at high level.

Harder champions should be rewarded by being more flexible and having more answers to different situations, like for example somebody like leblanc will have more tools to deal with things than somebody like annie. this is totally OK with me since harder champions should have rewards.

However in azir's case becoming good at him means you're playing basically the perfect mage. Burst? check. Sustained? heck. CC? check. Safety? check. Mobility? check. Range? check. Pushing? check. Waveclear? check. Objective taking? check.

This is not OK because when Azir is good the same shit we've seen happen a billion times happen where Azir is simply the ideal pick under almost all circumstances because he just has everything.
