Lack of divine weapon wielders. In Conquest this is especially egregious since Hoshido is without them so the country would fall fast followed up by Nohr. In Birthright, Nohr would fall, but not quickly since Leo is still around with his divine weapon to somewhat stem the invisible tide.

She's great when trained. The only downside is investing in a seal early game with limited funds, but it's still a good investment. Having a Sniper in Conquest is super useful since Niles unfortunately falls off lategame. She can also pass aptitude to someone like Velouria and have her good as well.

This game is focused around Player Phase shenanigans. Mozu comes with plenty of skills as an Archer/Sniper to take advantage of that. And in Conquest she can buddy Effie to get Armored Blow to further take advantage of that. Plus Effie would like Certain Blow to fix that accuracy issue of hers so that she becomes a more reliable delete button.

Niles doesn't get anything from his buddy list/alternate class to increase his damage output/accuracy outside of forges. He's going to have to get his EXP from scavenging kills from other units who have to weaken the enemy enough for him to kill.

As I said Niles is more utility than a combat unit. Kaze does what Niles does but is a Ninja with WTA over mages and better skills for combat. All Niles can hope for is to killsteal on other units in order for him to grab EXP. Mozu once she gets going can even weaken/kill Swordmasters/Onmyojis despite WTD thanks to Certain Blow as well as guaranteed hitting of agile foes which Conquest has no shortage of.

And don't forget that Niles is locked to a bow as well so he has no enemy phase as well.

That why I said that Niles is a UTILITY unit, not a combat unit since he drops off lategame combat wise without feeding him a bunch of stat boosters to compensate. Kaze and Mozu are combat units which Conquest sorely lacks in unlike Birthright who has too many combat units and not enough tanks to compensate for that.

And not everyone is going to run Cav Corrin just for a LTC strat that involves the Beast Killer/Elbow Room/Levin Sword +Mag/-Luck Corrin which is ridiculously specific.

If you have the Cupid Bow she can get a few more levels too. Paragon is better on Azura or Elise so that the former can get Inspiring Song/Voice of Peace quickly or help the latter reach 20 faster for promotion.

She can participate in chapter 8 and help you soften/snipe down a few foes who can't fight back. For chapter 9 she and Niles can hide behind walls and snipe the melee enemies to soften them up. 10 is her and Niles playground. Mozu has never required too much investment from me honestly.

That's just it, though; you're suggesting that Mozu isn't even remotely viable, when she absolutely is. Sure, she's not optimal if you're going for LTC or whatever other minmaxing model, but she's a very good unit if you give her just a tiny bit of babysitting to get her on the right track. The fact that the maingame missions that immediately follow her recruitment are heavy in Pegasus Knights, making it even easier to get her going with minimal effort.

Again, your way of playing isn't the only way you can play the game. If Mozu didn't have any kind of payoff to the initial investment, I'd absolutely agree there's no point, but there IS a payoff. She doesn't have the highest growths in the game for nothing.

You have to clear the map over and over. However you can clear it in around 13-15 turns given if you know how to position properly and equip the appropriate weapons. Lunatic gives your team some pretty nice weapons like the Brave Sword/Hagakure/Chakram.

As I said, I don't play to LTC or whatever minmax model you play with I assume. Mozu is one of those units that has a good payoff given if you invest into her, especially since she comes with a rare class in Conquest that coincientally is one of the best classes in the game if you need a delete button and also happens to be one of the best mothers to physical kids if Effie/Charlotte/Camilla isn't available to them.
