For reference I'm a pretty big Blizzdrone but only when it comes to WoW; I enjoyed TF2 back when it was just orange box stuff but haven't played it for years now. I consider myself above average at video games and would prefer a game that would reward my skills.

Clicking on people's heads with a hitscan weapon is one of the most difficult things in this joke of a game. You have to evade bullets and stay out of impossible situations like any other character, but it's true that he doesn't have any unwieldy mobility options. It's still very hard to consistently get headshots at long range, which you will need to do if you want to kill people who have a support at those ranges.

76 has to use burst fire and is generally better off aiming at the torso because he has to track the cursor with the moving character. 76 also benefits from direct rocket hits, which is a bit harder. 76 is one of the higher skill ceiling characters in this game though, in my opinion, because most designs that are departures from mainline shooter tropes are fairly casual and not reliant on precise aiming.

Yes, you'll enjoy it as long as you don't take it too seriously. It's a casual game at heart but there's still room to improve and see yourself git gud. It's less of a "shooter" and more like "fast paced WoW", your class selection and special abilities tend to be more important than twitch aiming skills, though those certainly help.

put bear trap on health kits, in front of the spawn, or at choke points for free hits and/or put your c4 right next to it. the bear trap goes under the ground and is less visible for enemies than it is for you.

probably need to lob nades higher than you expect to get them to go where you want. also lead targets more.

Me and two friends used to get together for LAN parties a bunch

Normally they just wanted to play whatever flavor-of-the-month game we were all into at the time like DayZ (that shit was great with friends for a very brief window, sad that the exploration of an abandoned world and that sense of isolation and danger will never get fleshed out into something better) and one time I convinced them to play Unreal Tournament 99 with me

We all sucked serious dick but it was a blast, one guy ended up being way better than I thought he was and we went the fuck at it before deciding to turn on Fatboy and low gravity and all the fun settings. I think I spent a whole match trying to kill someone by popping the Shock Rifle's alt fire and I freaked out when I did it

Overwatch is the most fun I've had with a game in a while but it's not the same as the classics. I still play Doom with a bunch of custom .wads every once in a while. Just fucking amazing mechanics and level design and that's it. Great game design stripped to its bare bones.

I wish there was a real successor to Quake 3.
