I've been doing a DK Corrin build in Conquest and its pretty good. Nosferatu helps earlygame and later on you can just use Yato to attack Defense when needed. Currently on Fox Map. Fuck Fox Map.

What do you guys do with Jakob? I have him go Butler until tomebreaker and then have him go GK so he gets all those skills. Ends up as a support cav. He NEEDS an Arms scroll unfortunately.

If you run something like a Spd Boon on M!Corrin I'm sure it would be fine. You will be relying on evasion though as Selkie almost always has terrible defense.

I've always found her a little odd as a unit myself as her default growths REALLY don't match with the Kitsune class... or any of her default classes really besides MAYBE Basara and her low defense and lackluster HP growths make her a pretty fragile mother herself.

Birthright first if you want to play all 3 paths, there's some story tidbits that are slightly improved (as dumb as the story can be) if you play the three paths in order.

Also it saves Conquest for second and Conquest is a treat.

I highly recommend using prepromotes. Xander and Camilla are really good.

If turn counts don't matter, Effie is great. Very bulky and can dish out good damage. Silas is a solid cavalier, and Jakob(if you play as a girl) can become a great knight and quickly get a shitton of useful skills. Arthur has solid combat earlygame and can give excellent boosts to whoever he pairs with. Elise is a staffer that is very helpful, and Kaze is a solid ninja and the only ninja worth using.

It depends. I passed Conquest hard with godawful units so it's safe to pick anyone you like. I wouldn't recommend it on Lunatic, however.

For units, I'd say go with Effie, Archer Mozu, Niles, Silas until he falls off, Felicia until she falls off, Azura, Camilla, Beruka, Kaze as a magic slayer, Charlotte and Arthur pair up bot, Xander, etc.

Let's talk about CQ Leo.

Most people consider him excellent. He has good growths, solid bases besides speed, and a personal tome that is great. He even has a horse! Yeah his speed is bad, but just slap a pairupbot on him and all is grand, right?

No. On my most recent Lunatic run, Leo has failed to do anything great. People assuming he gets the spirit dusts are dumb, as Corrin can totally run a magic build. While personal experience means jack shit, its worth noting that with the best possible pairups he can have, the guy will still fall short of doubling Paladins in maps like Chapter 18. His shaky accuracy against lance units(unless he attacks at close range which is not always possible thanks to his bleh bulk) can prevent him from doing this insane magic damage he supposed provides. In maps like Chapter 17 and 19 Leo sucks ass thanks to the dodgy high res enemies. Leo can barely touch ninjas thanks to their high res and weapon triangle advantage. Leo is not getting speedwings, as Xander has only one less map he exists in than Leo and is much more helpful. While I don't feel like people claim Leo is even on par with units like Camilla, even saying he's as good as Elise or Silas is just wrong. Leo makes little meangful contributions and the game design never gives him a chance to shine. He's certainly solid and not a bad unit at all, but I do feel like people tend to rate him higher than needed.

Ok, so I know the easiest way to play Lunatic in Awakening is just to low-man, and use one or two pairs of units.

But I like variety in a playthrough, and low-manning is boring to me. What's the maximum number of units I can realistically use in Lunatic?

On Conquest he's not the greatest but with lifetaker it kinda makes up for his meh bulk. Also, there are zero magic users aside from Oni Savages (which are locked to not this route). If you can get his sword skill up he can deal with some of the bigger threats to his existence. (imo Sakura is worst royal overall but whatever.)
