nth for where the fuck is Steel Rondo?
>>
>>144628318
It's basically a caravan game. The faster you kill enemies, the more will spawn within the time limit.
Those leaf items decide your rank for special wave.
Goes like: Green/Normal -> Blue/Easy -> Orange/Hard+Score -> Red/NotevenfunHard.
There's also some milking spots here and there.
I probably missed a few strats because I don't remember them well.
>>
>>144631487
I see, thank you.
Have you made any scoring videos for it anon?

"Cuck" has become a replacement for the word "fag," because subconsciously, we do not want to discriminate against homos. "Cuck" is a neutral term that is applicable to both hetero and homosexuals alike. It can be argued that people who use the word "cuck" are, in fact, the biggest cucks of them all, because they're don't want to hurt the little gayboy's feelings while attempting to insult another person.

Published another video just now:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hr-sIri215Y
A pretty cool Strikers 1945 1-ALL!

I also received an awesome replay from the guy that mentioned PCB in the last thread. I think I'll have that up either tomorrow or the day after tomorrow.

And here is that 100:YEN documentary I mentioned earlier which I added English subtitles to. Do you guys think I should publish this as well?

Being able to work out the psychology of the cuck phenomenon is a skill that can be applied to anything, including shmups. It is advanced level problem solving.

That's alright anon, it's a nice start.
Also compared to other videos I've seen you went after the missiles the boss drops but it doesnt seem to add anything to your score at all, how odd.

I can work with a Mushihimesama replay if you're using the Steam version. I don't have the equipment to record from consoles.

Unless you mean a replay for a sh3-supporting MAME edition, do replays for those even work?

It starts with
One thing I don't know why
It doesn't even matter how hard you try
Keep that in mind I designed this rhyme
To explain in due time

All I know
Time is a valuable thing
Watch it fly by as the pendulum swings
Watch it count down to the end of the day
The clock ticks life away

It's so unreal
Didn't look out below
Watch the time go right out the window
Trying to hold on, but didn't even know
Or wasted it all just to watch you go

I kept everything inside
And even though I tried, it all fell apart
What it meant to me will eventually be
A memory of a time when

I tried so hard and got so far
But in the end it doesn't even matter
I had to fall to lose it all
But in the end it doesn't even matter

One thing, I don't know why
It doesn't even matter how hard you try
Keep that in mind I designed this rhyme
To remind myself how

I tried so hard
In spite of the way you were mocking me
Acting like I was part of your property
Remembering all the times you fought with me
I'm surprised

It got so far
Things aren't the way they were before
You wouldn't even recognize me anymore
Not that you knew me back then
But it all comes back to me in the end

You kept everything inside
And even though I tried, it all fell apart
What it meant to me will eventually be
A memory of a time when

I tried so hard and got so far
But in the end it doesn't even matter
I had to fall to lose it all
But in the end it doesn't even matter

I've put my trust in you
Pushed as far as I can go
And for all this
There's only one thing you should know

I've put my trust in you
Pushed as far as I can go
And for all this
There's only one thing you should know

I tried so hard and got so far
But in the end it doesn't even matter
I had to fall to lose it all
But in the end it doesn't even matter

I love how in Unlimited mode in Crimzon Clover, I have an easier time with the final level than in earlier levels like the third and fourth level with only losing one life throughout the stage yet in other stages I fuck up quite a bit. The bosses (namely Maelstrom and Diabolos) are a hell of a lot more fun in the difficulty than in original mode oddly enough.

For advanced mode, it's the idea that you have to play very dangerously to git gud scores, since you'll be at high power and thus have very little shield to use. For normal, I don't know? Music's good I guess, and it uses the stuff that I liked in JSS but doesn't have any of the shit I disliked, like most bullets pushing your or lasting forever, or killing you through your shield.

Your channel would be welcome on STGrillz. If you're not streaming a shmup, you can just leave the [STG] or [2HU] title outside of your stream title. That way you won't show up when you're not streaming a shump.

If it's a shmup stream then I'll post here at least, but if it's a non-shmup stream like I'm doing now then I pretty much just fire it up and play. >>144733295
>Pazzy is excellent at one game, Jaimers is great in many games.
Spreading your mediocrity (althought way above average in gaymers case) over many games is not equal to the skill and effort of pushing one to an extreme although it may be more fun to the individual understandably. It comes down to whether you have desire to have fun clearing games or are on some quest to produce a great score.
>>
>>144733395
A pony that can do one trick really good is not as good as a pony who can do many tricks
>>
>>144733395
>lifting 20 light weights in succession is better than lifting one heavy weight?
I agree with you generally but that is a terrible example as different weights have completely different benefits as do the infinite scenarios that can bias to either. Lifting light weights is better for toning and speed whilst lifting heavy will produce bulky muscles and high strength at the cost of agility and speed for example.

>>144733504
Depends on the value of the ponies abilities to the person judging it. A ponies value is determined by the outsiders looking in as it lacks conscious thought to determine purpose for itself and is much confined to genetic assignment than us.
>>
>>144733504
this one-trick-pony meme in shmups needs to die, everybody that can reach exellence in one game could easily be good at other games, some people just don't bother and to be honest I can relate with the mindset of trying to improve further and further in one game rather than doing one thing and then doing another roughly equally difficult thing
>>
>>144733395
>compared to pazzy jaimers is really just mediocre in many games
The other way around desu, Pazzy is better in one game, Jaimers is better in any other game.

I was thinking in the context of weight lifting competitions, though I guess I should have specified that
>>
>>144733736
>some people just don't bother
Because it's harder to learn a huge array of things than it is to keep doing one thing over and over

Could it be the different between literal and figurative autism?
>>
>>144733867
Fair enough I guess you mean power lifting specifically although it doesn't stand still if im being pedantic (sorry) as for example doing fast high number reps of lower weights takes just as much effort but tests in a different way, games have much clearer defined objectives lets just say.

>>144733860
>post you're scores
Why? we are speaking of pazzy and jaimers but im getting that you haven't really grasped my point.

>>144733860
>The other way around desu, Pazzy is better in one game, Jaimers is better in any other game.
Incorrect as the skill level Pazzy has acquired is beyond that of which Jaimers has spread over many titles, if Pazzy applies the same ethics to another game he will stomp gaymers one by one but obviously it will take more time to cover them all.
>>
>>144734075
>Because it's harder to learn a huge array of things than it is to keep doing one thing over and over
I think you're being sarcastic but just in case not, learning one super hard thing will always be harder than learning a bunch of easier things although sometimes the things you learn compliment the learning of others also so all learning is important for progressions sake. It's as simple as this going for SPS Ketsui WR will tax anyone in everyway for much longer than a Jaimers getting loads of 1ccs. A guy spending 7 years getting loads of 1ccs is not equal to the guy spending 7 years to clear DDP death label.
>>
>>144734124
Incorrect. If Jaimers spent all his time on one game he would own it.
>>
>>144734340
>If Jaimers spent all his time on one game he would own it.
Yeah but he didn't did he that's the point, lets try and stay within reality please. Hypothetical has no place here it's like that annoying uncle who claims if he kept playing football as a kid he was totes gonna be pro.
>>
>>144734124
Skill level just come down to amount of time practiced in one game, Pazzy is that good in DOJ WL because he most likely spent the time Jaimer take for clearing 10 games.
>>
>>144734316
You just proved my point cuz the guy that spent 7 years playing death label is never brought up when people talk about the best shmup players. They talk about the guys who are great at countless games.
>>
>>144734503
>Skill level just come down to amount of time practiced in one game
By this logic every WR will just come down to who spends the most time on a game, it's like thinking you can beat usain bolt if you train more than he does.

>>144734560

>>
>>144733496
>Spreading your mediocrity (althought way above average in gaymers case) over many games is not equal to the skill and effort of pushing one to an extreme
Pazzys DOJ score isn't even that good. He just got the western record in it, but Jaimers also has some western records.
>>
>>144734808
>who exactly are you referring to anyway?
SWY for example. The people who beat his scores are the ones who grind the game forever after he moves on and dominates a new game from square one.
>>
>>144735156
Sure but the point still stands even if the players are a poor example, try not to get pedantically hung up on minor details.

>>144735204
This is true but SWY is also just that dude who does have a bunch of WRs that still stand, His Guwange counter stop for example is something i don't believe we will ever see a westerner replicate.... Gus you wanna get that counter stop?
>>
>>144735338
>the point still stands
No, it doesn't stand at all. Sure, you shouldn't move from one game to the other in a couple of hours, but you make it sound as if everyone should be only playing one single game and that's it, which is just retarded.
>>
>>144735454
Well your comprehension abilities and need to fill space with assumptions are not my problem so rather than waste time on you il just simply say that no where did i say or imply anything about what anyone "should" be doing. The conversation is solely about certain indviudals and what they do do so how you got from there to some hypothetical assumption drenched mental playground is beyond me.
>>
>>144735338
>but the point still stands
How? Jaimers has more western records and is better at more games.
>>
>>144735338
That's because none of the western superplayers care about Guwange.

Counter stoppable games are bad examples either way. They have a hard cap that the Japs reach very quickly. A game with infinite room for improvement is harder to get a World Record in than one that's been maxed out.

Gus was right.

I give zero fucks about pump and dump clears and any results brought in a short time (i.e. a low amount of effort). To me STG is about pushing the maximum potential of the player and the limits of the game, and an endless series of STGT-style sloppy seconds runs counter to that, embodying lack of commitment and wasted potential.

In Jaimers's case, it's obvious he has strong talent, but how strong is he? With players such as Pazaizy, Ako, Cactu, other Touhou players, Gus, and more, their dedication to the game has produced proof of a peak in their ability, and run(s) show a clear degree realized potential (not to say they can't be even better in the future, just that results have been procured)... with a guy like Jaimers, we'll always be talking "what if" and "if only he played". For sure his potential is greater than what his cheese clears score but how does it compare to that of players with great replays? We just don't know, not with the replays he's procured at the present time that do not come close to pushing his limits.

I will restate my point because you must have missed it. All of the world's most talented players focus on CAVE and the other big producers games. Not Touhou. Because ISO is the only name you can mention, it shows how little the series is valued by the best.
>>
>>144695329
Thanks, and quite the contrary--I'll be lucky if a new face beats my score, because competition in this thread would be great, so I'd be down for it. I'm actually confident about reaching a much higher score (in terms of effort) than what I submitted, if given enough time and motivation. Currently, I just want to get it up to 80m. It's teaching me a lot of new skills.

Actually, it might sound bad, but I prioritise dodging and reading skills more than knowledge of scoring strategies, but since it is only playing for score that pushes me into the most extreme reading and dodging challenges, I do scoring as well, but it is technically secondary to former purpose... For sure, scenes that are simple RNG grinds lose their luster very quickly to me since I'm not so much about raw numbers.
>>
>>144738735
ISO has been beaten in most categories he played, you're basically saying touhou players are worse because they're not the same people as cave players, which is quite a weak argument

>>144739228

Of course there are some weaker categories, but most overall touhou worldrecords are incredibly optimized, just to give you an example: back when ISO played PCB lunatic with reimuB his highscore was 2.4b, to day the worldrecord is above 3.6b

>>
touhou is shit and nobody good cares about them
case closed, moving on
>>
>>144739572
It's not really arguing, just always retards spouting retardation.
>>
The problem with many Touhou records is that there's too many categories. IN alone has over 100 of them and there simply isn't enough great players to push them as far as the optimized categories have been pushed. In a CAVE game you have like three shots and then maybe two or three difficulties. It's a lot easier to find players to push these to their maximum than it is to find 250 players to push the Touhou games in every category so a lot of them just end up being quite weak.

Of course there are really fantastic Touhou players as well. Yu-suke was already mentioned but he is obviously not the only one. Inefushi, Gobou, Cactu (who was also mentioned), soc and KG are all great and that's still not everyone. Not to mention that in recent times, plenty of new prospects have popped up for Touhou who one day might become very good.

On the same account someone that's into touhou and doesn't care about arcades could say that arcades have no big name players. Once again your logic is completely backwards, just like when your supposed arcade superplayer is beaten by touhouplayers after mroe than 1000 hours of play and you decide if he was beaten, he can't have been serious, even though the opposite is evident

none, he might still place top 3 in some non-competitive categories.

OFC he cared, he and HS were rivals for PCB pushing the game, HS won the rivalry by taking every single record (many of which still stand today),callit whatever you want, he probably spent much more time than ISO, but over 1000 is still a good amount for a "arcade superplayer" to put on a "worthless pc game" and and in the end ISO was blown teh fuck away (and on Lunatic which is the main thing, blown away by dozen players)

of course touhou isn't as competitive as the arcade scene at large, but individual games are still much more competitive than most arcade shmups and attract many more superplayers, because they're popular/better games. but you trash in this thread just see what you want to see instead of accepting reality, pathetic

After ISO stopped playing to compete in arcades. Meanwhile "HS" has how many high scores in other games?

>but individual games are still much more competitive than most arcade shmups
If by "most arcade shmups" you mean all unsuccessful games no one liked or played, then sure, Touhou is more popular. But even the biggest Touhou game, seemingly PCB or IN, is nothing compared to the big arcade shmups.

Touhou games are not even popular. Only the hentai is. Most don't even know there are games.

Early on it was very similar to carpal tunnel syndrome, but later on the feeling in the thumb stopped and appeared in the pinky instead, which is impossible if it's CTS as the nerves pass through another tunnel.

Currently I'm just feeling general weakness of the left arm (gets tired quickly from holding its own weight) and the tendons/muscles along my forearm tense up rather uncomfortably when I'm using my fingers to play games, and pain appears later, so I don't do that.

I did handle the stick pretty roughly that's for sure.

I could use the Sanwa arcade buttons in place of Cherry switches as they are much lighter and won't strain my arm as much, but I can't see that as a good idea right now regardless.

>>
>>144757957
That's correct carpal tunnel only affects the thumb to half of the 4th finger and not the pinky, do you rest on your elbows particularly on hard surfaces? The symptoms you describe can sometimes be elbow compression. Probably just fatigue though so try some rest some light warm up/stretching before and after play and some destressing for example from years of bmx my shoulders got tight as shit so I would use a rolling pin and essentially beat them to simulate a hard massage which worked wonders.

Generally my forearms are on the armrests, close to the elbow but not quite with the elbow making direct contact. The armrests are cushioned. It does feel like plain fatigue right now, but there are some unexpected cramps at the base of the thumb reappearing during activity, the back of the hand can go numb as well in a certain spot where there's a lump.

Dariusburst: Chronicle Saviorus is the SHMUP of the century!

I love it so much. The music is so good I bought all the OSTs.

Too bad I'm still complete shit at it despite having put in 50 hours by now. ;_;
>>
>>144832178
well hey, ive gotten a 1cc in a few darius gaiden routes but only have 1ccs in the two easiest dbcs routes so dont feel too bad
>>
>>144833160
Well, DBCS' difficulty is all over the place desu. I think I've actually managed to 1CC every possible route in standard arcade mode. But some of the bosses I just have no answer for and when I face them I barely scrape by without getting a game over. Like Ancient Barrage (the turtle) and Violent Ruler. (Easy route final boss)
Some of the patterns are just unbelievable. And that's with the detached laser. Without it, that shit would be straight-up impossible.

Never played Darius Gaiden, but I will get on that, also since the music of it in DBCS is so good. That's weird though, I imagine Gaiden is probably a lot harder than DBCS. But it's always a matter of practice of course.

Also, I've had G.Darius for +16 years and have never gotten a 1CC in it at all. Granted, I never played it religiously despite it being a 10/10 masterpiece to me. But that game is brutal. Much harder than DBCS. I hope I can get good at it some day.
>>
>>144834238
Gaiden's difficulty is also all over the place imo. There are certain bosses along the top paths that are just infinitely more difficult than the ones you see further down, and certain version of bosses also have much harder patterns than their other versions. Then there's Titanic Lance.
>>
>>144834238
I'm under the impression that G-Darius is one of, if not the, hardest games in the series. Gaiden isn't too rough, but the balance seems to be that the easier stages have bosses that are much harder (comparatively). Gaiden also does give you plenty of bombs, though not quite as much as the Gaiden ship in DBCS.

I think the main issue I have with DBCS, and thus why I don't have nearly as many clears, is that I don't feel invested in 3-stage runs. I know the real meat of the game is supposed to be the Chronicle mode, but I want to play arcade modes and I feel really let down even if the music and stages and bosses are fantastic.
>>
>>144835352
>There are certain bosses along the top paths that are just infinitely more difficult than the ones you see further down
Yeah, just like DBCS, then. Doesn't matter much since you can pick your battles, but it's a bit odd that they label some of that stuff easy when it's actually some of the hardest shit in the game.

>>144835545
I get you. There's something to be said for the +40 min runs you get in G.Darius for example. An average DBCS run in comparison takes only barely above 15 mins.
I find it much easier to commit to the latter nowadays, but I think long runs are definitely preferable. They're arcade games, but I like the artistry and journey you get.
I wasn't aware that Chronicle Mode was considered the meat of the game, but it does have a lot of unique stages with music and bosses you don't get in regular Arcade Mode.

I just played ibara on arcade for the first time and it seemed like literally impossible to 1cc since holding the shot button didnt slow you down and some of the bosses patterns were impossible to dodge with the fixed speed you were moving or maybe im just bad since it was the first time in 12 years i have played on actual arcade with stick

just going to go ahead and explain something about my replay because there's bound to be other people that felt the same way.

I reach 2 more extends than the amount of suicide spots (and the 10 lives required to clear) i use. in other words, in this category i have 2 excess lives and losing them only loses me a small amount of score if it's in the "right" places.

dying gives 25% PF (1/4 bomb) so as long as i normally would never go beyond 275 (300 is maximum) then no PF was lost. the only loss is the immediate pattern interference, and the two places i happened to die in barely had any. i lost not even 100k from those two deaths, so in other words, not a big deal. i lost more points in other places.

however, had i died a 3rd time anywhere else, it would've been disastrous. also, most spots you can die in will be very troublesome even if it is just a single death in the whole run, due to either the immediate pattern interference, the game-long resource route changing, or both. Dying anywhere on the 2nd boss for example is run-ending.

hopefully that clears it up. most lives are "spent" and not "lost", but "losing" a life can in some situations be almost negligible. i don't care what you all think as long as you know at least that much.

Trying to 2-all R-Type is really frustrating as fuck.
The game is so easy partly, but on the other hand, it has some parts which can be blisteringly difficult.
And whenever you die only a single time at those parts, you always have to do the easy shit again, which is pretty annoying.

The main counter above the enemy should be flashing red if you're doing it right. The optimal tapping rate changes depending on the slowdown and how far away the target is.

The child counters are just the individual counters for your option lasers, the idea is to do slow A tapping until the child counters are at a high enough value (this should be around 1000 for the s2 midboss), then switch to fast C tapping to unload their values repeatedly into the main counter as they drain.

Breaks the emulation in a way that you can't normally tell but makes up for the delay introduced by the computer so it's comparable to the PCB. It's good isn't it?

What actually upsets me about the ddonpach ROM is that a certain graphical bug isn't present. It's so glaringly inaccurate...

Too many star items on the screen make the player ship turn invisible on the PCB but emulated DDP keeps it visible. I guess you could call it an improvement, and it doesn't really matter either way, but as an indicator of not being arcade perfect it is very noticeable.

The game is ridiculously difficult. If that's to your liking, then fine, but I prefer other difficulty curves.

No, it means that it has better players. In Ikaruga the top 50 is basically almost just Japanese players, while in CC it has a shitton of western scrubs.

Just so you know, Original is not much of a relevant category. If you want to see the real deal start playing Unlimited, if you need training-wheels start playing boost.
>>
Bullying aside, I give Kraut credit for admitting the game was too hard instead of doubling down on his top 5 claim.
>>
>>145022465
Does Crimzon Clover show the number of players on the boards for each mode? Someone report back about which is most popular (relevant). I bet its Original.
>>
>>145022465
Original is pretty much the default mode. It has the vast majority of players, while Unlimited has the least players.

In Ikaruga I also played the "default mode" (normal), and it was a LOT harder there to be top 50.
>>
>>145021628
There isn't really anything too different that you can easily buy. You can get an LS-56 with octagonal gate which is usually quoted as the best Japanese joystick among Westerners, it should also feel the most different from stock LS-32.

There are however Suzo parts which are decently hard to get and hard to set up as well, but evidence is, no one wants to go back to Japanese sticks after a Suzo.

Another MadCatz case should be fine with an MS mounting plate.

I would have recommended a Hori stick like HRAP V4 because it comes with the Hayabusa joystick which you can try out as well, but I don't know about the ease of installing Seimitsu there--might be of advanced difficulty or 'impossible' (nothing is really impossible).

Qanba sticks can also work with a P=40 flat plate.
>>
>>145032597
I just looked at how Hayabusa is mounted, the same P=40 flat plate should do the job for installing the Seimitsu. Your call.
