From my understanding, the only way to add heads right now is basically to apply a material that makes a head invisible and then add your actual head as a helmet, but from what i'm reading right now this has the limitation of not getting rid of teeth, eyes and eyelashes, which means those would show unless your head is bigger than the default head, which is why the anime heads like

So this bug has existed for me since launch, am I just the only one who gets it or why haven't they fixed it? Are they just lazy with bug fixing? Ridiculously annoying, I have to mute the game every time I'm on the Avenger.

The problem with heads is a bit hard to explain, but basically, there is only 1 head for each gender(actually i don't remember if there's 1 head for each race but whatever), the rest of the heads are created with morphs, which basically means that when you change a head in the game, it isn't loading a different mesh, it's just changing the current one through these "morphs". So basically, you cannot add additional heads to the game because it's simply not how it works, and from my understanding you can't add morph targets either simply because of some limitation of the sdk.

So basically, you're stuck with the default heads in the game, and the work around these anime heads use is to make the game use a head without morph targets and then make it invisible.

With bodies, animations and armor it's all fairly straightforward. There's already a nude mod for example, and that's an entire body replacement, with animations i haven't actually looked into it too much, but i don't think it would be particularly difficult to do, there's even documentation with the SDK about how to import animations into the udk.

That said, there's a grand total of 1 animation mod so far, so i don't think anyone cares or wants to go through the trouble.

Vanilla designs plus all the bazillion mods that are out mean the biggest limitation is your creativity. Make new soldiers with new themes instead of just making Spartan/ODST #159255836 and posting a billion screenshots of it here, we've had way too many of those. Of course you should actually PLAY with what's fun for you though.

When the Marine armor drops on the other hand I'll be hype to see some more screenshots of that, looks way cool. It's just the Spartan/ODST theme that's a bit exhausted.

The only guys who have had any progress with that are the Playable ADVENT guys I guess, but even then they're just taking existing stuff and putting it in a new place. I don't know but there are a LOT of hurdles concercning head animation in particular, everything else meant for a human you can more or less rig onto the XCOM2 skeleton.

You can read up on smarter people than me explaining the head stuff and how to get around it here, but afaik nobody has managed to made a fully animated head prop yet.

I played Arma 2 online with a group. You need some level of coordination in big missions so a group is pretty important there. Small missions are fine with pubs, I suppose. I don't really play much multi anymore. I spend most of my time making missions and scripting the shit out of them.

If you want people to play with, check out Murshun on steam. They do gamenights for tactical games.

I think what bugged me about Alien Hunters the most wasn't the Ruler Reactions or questionable aesthetic choices. It was the aliens they chose to be Rulers.

Viper King makes sense.

Berzerker Queen is just a roided up berzerker with meat tenderizers bolted onto her. Why the hell is she a Ruler? She a mindless smash beast.

Archon King is just an angrier Archon. And considering Archons are just Floaters with a makeover, and Archon King doesn't make any sense.

If we accept that Rulers are made by genetically altering aliens back to their "natural" state, the Archon King makes no goddamn sense, and the only thing separating a "natural" berzerker and an Alien berzerker is that the Alien version is actually somewhat sedated by comparison.

I think this plasma rifle is pretty much done, just gotta make the attachments and ui icons. There's still some tiny details to clean on the textures but overall i think that's the best i can do.

Wanted to get rid of at least one of the Codex's, so threw everything I had at the closest. All either missed, or did +1 damage because of the attachment. Third Codex created, and teleported behind the entire squad.

It all went downhill from there. Objective was to either capture or kill a VIP and head to the extraction point. Marine-4 was basically out of special items and had no ammo left, so I sprinted him to the VIP, grabbed him because more supplies if captured, and threw a mimic beacon a couple squares away from him to distract the attention. He escaped, barely, and bossgirl stayed to distract most of the enemies, and the new reinforcement group of a Mech, lancer and one trooper. Marine-1, the sharpshooter, was atop of a roof and was sniping most of the sectoids and managed to kill a couple of the now 4-6 Codex's.

Remember kill zone shots count as reaction fire, which suffer an aim penalty. So if your sniper is at squadsight range, firing reaction fire, the chances of hitting are pretty low. Not to mention some enemies have innate defense and melee units can dash which gives them even more defense.

Go to My Games/XCOM2/XComGame/Config and delete everything inside (if you have the uniform manager mod, then delete everything except XComUniforms.ini). Now verify cache.

If you still have issues look for mods that might be in conflict (the alternative launcher in the OP should show any conflicts).

Still having problems? Wanna try a longshot? Make a backup of your saves, character pool, and uniforms (if you have them/care). Then delete My Games/XCOM2.

Demolition is actually pretty good but only once you reach Plasma weapons. Then it can shred any cover that isn't made of ayy materials. Combined with Holo-Targeting you can save a lot of grenades.

Demolition is useless early as you already know. By the end game you will almost never use those two abilities again, because you won't be short on explosives and you could be doing something more productive like removing cover and dealing damage or chains-hotting big ayyys.

Hmmm, I know they have bonus aim for some ADVENT units melee attack on top of their base aim. Maybe the same functionality could be added to this.

Defense Matrix only provides turrets for the Avenger Defense mission. Provided that most of your troops aren't in the medbay or something, I find that it usually isn't worth it. AWC is super important since it reduces medbay time and allows for bonus perks. Since the AWC is not retroactive unless you cheat it is important to get up as soon as possible.

Tried it with Perfect info mod. Three snipers, Kill Zone on 6 targets in the open without squadsight. Between the three of them they missed all 15 shots they took. A couple of the Advent troops they were shooting at did have defensive bonuses, but not enough to explain why all my other units gunned them down without issue.

How the fuck do I deal with these Rulers without being guaranteed to lose one? They're just ridiculously fucking unbalanced. If they activate with another pod that's it, squad wipe, start a new campaign.

You deal as much damage as you possibly can and force them to retreat, pretty much all you can do. If you can expect them (through battle scanners, concealment, scanning protocol, whatever) then just try your best to set up an Overwatch ambush.

If you suspect the mission has a Ruler (which wont show up in the Shadow Chamber analysis), save your frost bomb because that's the most valuable asset in taking on a Ruler that you don't get the jump on, stuns them for 3 "turns".

If you get a Ruler and pod activation, then yeah, you're pretty fucked but your priorities should still be to deal as much damage to the Ruler as possible and I guess just get lucky and not die to the pod.

Also as a bonus pro-tip: hair-trigger activation does not give the Ruler a reaction.
