My assaultron company died while in water and I couldn't resurrect it with those robot stimpacks, so I used clicked on it and typed resurrect in the console. Now the game acts like I don't have a companion. When it dies, I have to use resurrect again but it will lose everything it had in his inventory. Anyway to fix this?

Absolutely, yes. This is something I've seen people complaining about (that Nate's default voice is too, soft, perhaps is the word?) and something I've been interested in for a while (since ME1, actually).

As for setup, I have a decent-ish mic I can access (my father runs an oldies band / church group with a lot of sound equipment I could probably borrow) and I've been looking into DIY recording booth stuff as well.

Yeah, my nightowlish schedule tends to put me at-odds with hitting the real busy times, but I might try again later.

Working on the Bostonian accent, though I don't know how much real interest there would be in that one, since it does (at times) take some of the seriousness out of the lines. Or it can, anyway, if I don't do it right.

And yes. I sent a few texts to some guys I know asking about the hardware. I have the space, just need the gear. What I don't have, I will probably be able to pick up sooner rather than later, hopefully.

Beyond that, I was planning on doing a couple more recordings tonight/this morning if anyone's interested in hearing them.

Thanks for the favor, by the way. Gives me the gumption to actually do it, assuming I can get the stuff together (which shouldn't be a problem).

Don't take this the wrong way, but if I had to be honest, the delivery doesn't sound natural, and your voice sounds sort of strained and unemotional. I don't really get the feeling that you're conversing with anyone, but that you're reading out loud, if you catch my drift.

Try to really envision the person you're talking to in front of you; try to really feel his presence as if he was a real person, and then give your response as if he was really there, rather than just bluntly reading off of a screen. There's a bunch of relay grenade mods. One ridiculous one lets you summon squads of Synths and gorillas. A more reasonable mod just replaces the gen 1s with gen 2s who carry random leveled weapons instead of just Institute peashooters.
Weapon Balance Overhaul will make the Institute Rifle less shitty. Crafting Workbenches will let you make Relay Grenades.

It isn't hard after the first couple levels, just a matter of keeping food in your inventory and loading up on too much extra shit while exploring.

help me /fog/, for I am a lost sheep in my journeys in fah haabah. DiMA suggests that I spare both the denizens of the harbor and the children, but even the more moderate confessor of the past suggested that the people of harbor should simply leave because of the deadly nature of the fog, which makes me question his pragmatism with his tone of voice in the holotapes. While I know there are agreeable and temperate followers within the nucleus, but is it possible to go nuclear on the COA, even after going America and installing a puppet dictatorship? I've never been fond of the COA on the behalf of their commonwealth jihadist, but what worries me more is that I might hurt poor DiMA, who only wishes for peaceful co-existence. He is farther past any 'robotic revolution' and is a man of peace, going so far as to wipe his own memories that hurt his conscience, something us humans do not have the luxury of.. He only tries his best, even if he knows his methods are underhanded.

it really makes me wish there was filtering options for beth.net - I sure as hell wouldn't waste my time sifting through 100 comments about importing my F4SE mod to xbone, the mod author should reserve the right to auto-delete any comment containing any keywords they deem fit. Now I know that sounds all 'muh soggy knees' but it's really just saving time and frustration on something that simply cannot be done. I find settlement building mildly amusing, as well as exploring and putting holes in everything that moves, but I'd be lying if I didn't hate everything else before modding started to take off - and with the 200 mods I got installed, it's fixed 'almost all' of my gripes with the game, at least the ones that I simply could not overlook. I always wanted a classical Sniper Rifle, you know, 1 bullet, then eject, masterful large scope, pretending I was a true sniper.

So I eventually (after a long time) manage to get the most expensive scope, the Long Recon scope, and it looks extremely ugly and gay.

Do you guys like long recon scope? Is it good? I think I'm just gonna go for a normal long scope instead because it doesnt look gay.

What ever happened to leather armor? It disappeared from the world after Fallout 2. I always liked it, the design was like the perfect mix of pre-war armor and post-war salvaged gear. A good common peace to give low level mercs and raiders.
I fucking hate the overused goofy Mad Max shit that raiders wear in modern Fallout, it looks silly and it's impractical as fuck.

that's the deal though, a lot of modders have thrown curveball F4SE dependencies, even if doesn't actually use anything from it's libraries, they only use it for the sole fact that consoles can't use it, thus breaking the mod's ability to properly load.

There is some moderation though, if you can link a nexus mod that predates the beth.net mod with adequate proof that you're the person that uploaded the pre-dating mod, they'll take it down. I say this as a modder that's made mods only for PC, even if it was completely possible on a console. At the time it was merely a declaration of belief - that anyone playing beth games on a console completely deserves their fate - the entire point of beth's games for most consumers is the modding potential.

the rem700, classic hunting rifle and was/is the standard DMR is a bolt action rifle with a 5 round detachable magazine, some squads even equip their DM with semi auto rifles depending on engagement ranges.

No ones using a 50x scope in the field, bigger scopes do not mean bigger zooms, they work like cameras and let in more light.

theres no "true sniper" in FO4, they all would suffice as a DMR

being a "true sniper" is simply taking out your target before he knows you're there, along with being a part of a larger squad.

'Technically', but missing the point is that I'm more talking about the original design. In 3 and NV it's called 'leather armor' but it uses the leather jacket design from 1 and 2. not leather armor. Then in 4 it was changed to layered armor, but the design is different again.
To their credit, the concept and idea behind the armor has remained the same, but I just liked the way it looked in 1 and 2.

Leather armor has always had that concept in mind when design, even in 3 and NV. I didn't even realize it but as the Wiki points out in the 3/NV design, it has football boots. The the rest is obviously motorbike a jacket. But visually the design is completely different, it's made to look like the leather jacket.

Judging by how quite a few people said it was "good" and a little bit more RPG-oriented (which is actually true, but there's still way too few choices), i was hoping it would be more than just "Go to this one location and retrieve x / kill x".
The main quest was meh, i didn't really feel that involved into it. DiMA has no depth to me, i never associated with The Children of Atom because they're just a bunch of fucking lunatics.
To me, the only memorable character in this DLC is fucking Allen, the gun vendor.

Also midway through it i started thinking the fog was just a stupid excuse for Bethesda to not put any effort into the locations of that island and fill it up with glorified raiders. At first, i was hyped to see what locations and people this island would host, but after a while i realized it was either a raider den or a super mutant dungeon.
Everytime i went on a quest or exploring and found a place i was like "Oh, what a surprise, more bullet spongy Trappers".
The side quests also fucking sucked. Nothing more than excuses to go out of your way to shoot up places.
Far Harbor was the most polished and memorable section in the game, Acadia feels like it was rushed and butchered. Don't really know about The Children of Atom.

But honestly, if this is what turn Bethesda's taking with Fallout we might as well consider this not Fallout anymore because it's fucking boring.
Where are the skill checks? Where are the interesting quests that don't only recquire you to go and shoot shit and that actually need you to have developed your character in a way that differs from shooting guns?
I was expecting it also to be longer since it was supposedly "30 hours long", but it didn't feel nowhere near that long.
The ending felt like total shit. I went for the peace between all three factions by the way.
When it was all over i was like "this is it?".
It felt like there was no closure, just anti-climatic shit.

Speaking of more enemies in Far Harbor... where the fuck did all the hermit crabs go? I encountered two of them early in the DLC and then never saw any again, even after setting out to explore every corner of the island. The quests were certainly fucking longer that's for sure. I finished the main quest and the "main" side quests in a single afternoon

Not for awhile. Bethesda has finite resources, and the CK is more than likely the lowest priority with them, behind the DLC and TES VI. The think tank don't have to war with the world. The level of tech that they command is thus that it'd be a real fucking nightmare for everyone involved until they could /find/ their facility. If they decided to consciously wipe out all life, they could probably do it relatively easily. Hell, Elijah could do it with the remnants of one of their experiments. Are there any modders that can help me a bit here?

My mod idea is simple but I have no idea on how to actually pull it off.

I'm currently lvl 110 and even with low endurance I have 706 HP. With drugs I get 1330 HP. I don't want to make a new character but I do want to get some challenge out of the game as I finish the last few locations, and the only HP changing mod I found just makes me die instantly to pretty much anything.

What I want is to cap player health scaling to level 50. You get extra health per level from lvl 1 to 50, but afterwards your HP is locked and can only be increased with perks and by boosting endurance.

Sadly, I have no idea on how to change the health formula to account for this limitation.

Even on survival with Loot Overhaul and War for the Commonwealth I went from running and struggling to survive to an unbeatable god within the first 20-30 levels. It just seems to be really hard to balance later game without making the early game impossible.

I never felt it, not enough NPCs to make it feel alive given its size.

Honestly, tha twas a big problem with NV in general, shit just wasnt strcuted well.

The Strip, Freeside, Nellis, even smaller towns like Primm were massive in terms of size, but had like 3 people per screen, so they felt even more dead then shit like the Republic of Dave.

Megaton masked this by making the town small but tiered, so NPcs were always switch backing on the ramps, making you see more NPCs at once. And Rivet City got around it by making it small and cramped inside the aircraft carrier, so you were always bumping into people, making it feel more alive.

New Vegas felt like the general atomic galleria once you reopen it, like one savager in a while bunch of functional buildings seemingly left empty and desolate.

- Unlock the frames. Frames are locked at 60 because its a shitty console port and thats how shitty bethsoft coders dealt with shitty console hardware.

- Unlock the shadows. FO4's engine can dynamically create and remove shadows to help with frames, but because bethsoft are retarded they locked them in at preset distances defined by the user. So the population of Diamond City has stayed at the mid 40s for 150 years, and in that time, at no point has anyone decided to use the bleachers as a place to put more houses, guard posts, or even as salvage.

Seriously, I do not understand why Bethesda can't just break up the city into sections, like the Imperial City in Oblivion. It'd be so fucking easy to give the city a half-dozen sections, each with a few tens of people, and through that make the city so much more alive. Assassin's Creed franchise isn't an RPG. In Fallout games, when you enter a city, you expect to talk to everyone in it and get quests, shop, dialogue, etc. In AC, you're jumping over buildings and having the citizens comment on how crazy you look. On Survival, and as long as you don't min/max and rather select the perks that fit the theme of the character you're going for, it actually is.
I locked my level at 75, and it's still kill or be killed. Especially Far Harbor is intense as fuck.
Yes, I can pretty much 2-4 shot everything with bigger calibers, except maybe Fog Crawlers and some Legendary super mutants, but even regular Trappers with shitty pipe guns hurt and force me to take cover. And higher-level Anglers and the like can practically 1-2 shot me, if they pop up behind me and get in melee range.

Yes you could, there are gondolas like you see in Venice. Each district has one, and they fast travel to a handful of other districts. It's easy to jump between them to get to where you're going.

Given just enough thinking power to be able to adapt to any situation that arises on the job, without the need for human oversight that pre-war robots need to prevent them from staying on a useless task forever, while having just enough lack of free will to make them not truly sentient.

The whole point was to create a post-work world, where humans can devote all of their free time to the advancement of themselves, without having to take time to do pesky things like building maintenance.

My point is that the scale is easily done and not impossible even given console restrictions. If Oblivion could do a reasonably sized city like that (at least by medieval standards) in 2006 then why can't a game do it now, ten years later?

Maybe the devs should spend less time making dozens of raider hovels that are all functionally identical and writing terminal entries with no relation to the actual plot and more time making a large and interesting city.

Basically, people who will complain a place is 'too big' and get pissy because not every NPC wants to share their life story or have other things to do than deal with the player character.

These filler NPCs, amusingly, are also a bulk of the ones who can be killable outside of actual enemies. And players then complain "too many are essential."

That's because their split up to several cells, rendering the raiders inactive that aren't present in the cell you're currently in.
Literally nothing stands in the way of splitting up a town into several cells too.

Also, bigger raider camps easily consist of 10 or more NPCs, yet you don't notice a performance drop when two nearby vertibirds clear a couple of other camps some streets away in the same cell.
