if you like lore though you should have no problem getting drawn in. it'll make you want to play the previous games and read the books, if you're into that sort of thing.

HoS is just consistently good. Vanilla game is all over the fucking place, and B&W is also all over the place. Beginning starts out so fucking strong, till the cage scene with Regis then it becomes less about The Beast and more about blackmailers and someone trying to steal the duchess' seat.

HoS was almost all fantasy and mystery, B&W fucked up halfway through. B&W has the best map though, just because of visuals, draw distance and shit. Skellige is too much wasted space, and Velen has alot of wasted space aswell.

It feels really fucking short because the entire first wish is dialog. You fight some wolves in the forest protecting that one guy, you fist fight those guys at the pig pen. Done, more talking.

Second wish is a little better but definitely not by much. Third wish has the Caretaker fight which was nice, but then you just fight more spirits in the house. Then the game kinda just ends after running through a maze.

It feels like meeting Olgierd, meeting Shani, fighting the frog and getting off the boat is longer than any of the wishes.

Actually I liked that part. The auction house was nice, the lady talking about Vesemir made me a bit emotional about his death again and the actual heist was pretty cool. Oxenfurt was barely used in the main game except like 2 main quests and a contract so it was nice to see it a bit more fleshed out.

Starts off with a crazy opener once in Touissant. Goes very fast but keeps up the entertainment. Duchess isn't a sit on throne type of girl, learn all these clues and feel actual urgency looking during the Hare Hunt. Fight with the "Beast", Regis appears and is already the best character. Trying to find out the Beast's location and use a ancient torture method to do so.

Then you just forget about the Beast who has killed a bunch of people, let Regis fuck off for 3-5 hours while Geralt escorts the Duchess and her captain around the map in bleh quests that just led to blackmailers and a boring villain.

I don't understand how they hype up vampires and fuck it up not even halfway through.

Eh, i've got something similar. I recently got a PS4 (gifted) and picked up Bloodborne (With the DLC) for around $10 to kill time until Blood and Wine released (and to see what the fuss was about seeing as Sonyggers swore by the damn game) and holy fuck. The game is remarkable.

The Old Hunter is what I call a fucking DLC. If Blood and Wine managed to maintain the quality that Hearts of Stone had then holy shit ,it would have been GOAT but frankly, it was a disappointing heap of boring mediocrity.

I love old hunters. Though I did regret playing on ng+++ on my first time through.

It's weird. I just have zero desire to play the expansion. It's kind of like Uncharted 4 and Doom. They aren't bad games and I did beat Uncharted and am halfway through Doom but the hype and thrill just isn't there. Best games so far of the year has been Xcom 2, Dark souls 3, and Warhammer. With xcom 2 I was glued to the screen for 40 hours, always itching to get back to it. Dark Souls 3 was great, and Warhammer gives me the same feeling that I got with Xcom 2. With B&W nothing is there. I guess the magic is gone.

I think we're just burnt out from Witcher 3 mate. The game is fundementally flawed in regards to replayability and many other facets of gameplay. Blood & WIne really highlighted just how weak the games gameplay is.

When you have a weak narrative and the gameplay of Witcher 3 you have a fucking boring game. Hearts and Stone/Vanilla circumvented this by having outstanding plots (maybe not the Vanilla but the side content was fantastic) with even some well needed changes to gameplay (better bosses in the case of Hearts of Stone) but they are always there to supplement the story.

In Blood & Wine they had a few gameplay tweaks and a outright boring plotline and it really stood out like a sore thumb. This is why I could never fully get behind the Witcher 3 hype (calling it the best RPG ever made is a laughable statement) despite loving the series and even the game itself (it's one of my favorite games this gen).

I don't know man, i'm just still salty over how disappointed this DLC made me and knowing the fact that reviewers/people will gloss over its blatant issues because "LEL, IT'S WITCHER 3" just like they did with Dark Souls 2 because "LEL, IT'S DARK SOULS".

I've tried that and honestly, it takes a really engaging game for me to just play and not care about achievements. I like having something to work towards. It adds some enjoyment for me.

Best time to start Blood and Wine? Just did Hearts of Stone and am up to Ugly Baby on NG+ on Deathmarch; really want that grandmaster stuff, but don't want to ruin it if it's more sensible to do it after the main story.

So how much content is even in this DLC all together? I would say I took my time and the main quest took me around 11~ hours? I'm going to ignore most of the piece of shit POIs but I still have a few side quests (most of the ones I did were pretty shit desu) but i'm wondering how much is left?

30 hours seemed like a pretty damn huge overestimation. I'm around 17 hours in with a few side quests left to do. So far I would rate this DLC a solid 6.

My friend bought me this game on release day but I got to Skellige and got burnt out since I was doing every side quest.

I picked Triss, personally, even after reading the books. I heard she doesn't appear for the rest of the game, so that's kinda disappointing.

I'm at the part just after Yen fucks up that garden or whatever by bringing the corpse of the guy Ciri talked to back to life. I'd played it for an hour or so the other day before bed but just can't get back into it.

Is it worth finishing? I've heard so much mixed stuff.
