At present, you are correct, but in a few years it has a very solid chance. The Senran Kagura name draws in a lot of people.

Since we're a bit dead, I've got a rather long SR confession.

I sometimes lie awake at night wondering which of Takeda, Houjou, and Uesugi give the best rewards from conquering (ignoring how hard they are to conquer). Naturally, I think it's obvious that if we assume that you're getting the full rewards from each country, Takeda is the best, but otherwise (like, if we assume you're only getting Tourin, the Shell Dungeon SAT, and that Dog from Takeda... throw in Saitama and Youkai access if you like) I genuinely struggle to compare Takeda to Uesugi (I think Houjou fails either way).

Do I just underrate Kenshin? I think I probably won't miss her unless I try to do a run without her.

Either way, here's how they weigh up in my mind:
Uesugi gives you Kenshin, Ai and the SAT from them (10 in non-Kenshin routes, 20 in Kenshin), along with the 5 SAT you'll probably get from their dungeon and the extra 5 from the conquer, so realistically, two top tier commanders and 20 SAT. You also get access to the Kenshin route and if you really wanna push it, the Charm of the Immortal Fox Deity along with Kenshin no longer bothering you when you're at war with other countries.

Takeda on the other hand, ignoring the blitz-requiring stuff, gives you Tourin, Saitama (and hence Youkai access), the Akashita Dog and the 15 (up to 20?) SAT from the dungeon. If we're pushing it, getting rid of Takeda also gives you an easier time on the Isoroku route and the Cavalry units are pretty useful (they can even give 5 SAT).

I suppose that when you really get to the guts of it, I'm asking if Tourin is better or worse than Ai and Kenshin, which I heretically find a tough question to answer.

So, those are my sins /haniho/. Can anyone help me? I sometimes do just think it's that I won't know Kenshin's value until I live without her, but deep down inside I think that Tourin is fucking awesome anyway. Thoughts?

And lets not even get started on throwing Mouri and Takuga into this.

I honestly wouldn't compare Tourin to Ai. They're used for totally different things. Ai is used as a Tactician should be (giving out buffs, in fact, I'd argue she's the best 'actual Tactician' in the game, since you'd usually anyone who's got better stats than her for something else, for example Uruza), while the best way to use Tourin is just to spam his Battle Rating Down 2 ability.

The battle prep focused play-through I did was the easiest 5-star game I've ever had.

As for mages, they are good at killing footsoldiers, which is something you need to do fast if you want to annihilate all opposition.

Let me just give the facts, from an aggression standpoint (I'm assuming perfect Footsoldiers):
Of the units that we know the speeds of, Mages are tied as the slowest units in the game.
Fire Blast is tied as the slowest move in the game.
Mages need some serious work to even be good. The best unit in their class has 6 Int and 5 Spd.
Outside of attacking, Mages are useless in combat.
Mages almost have the most expensive troops in the game, so you can't even pay your way to big numbers (and you can't expect half of them to join with a good number either, unless you're deliberately delaying recruiting Uruza).

And for all this, all you're getting is a move that hits one guy, and does full damage to units who are guarding. I won't lie, you're right to say that Souun is better, but I could probably argue the same for most generic Diviners.

Overall - Mages just don't do enough damage fast enough to justify their use. I once went out of my way to optimise them, and I failed utterly. You'd probably get more from a Monk's Guard Cancel than you would from a Mage. Heck, they're so slow that I often failed to use up all of their actions.

I also doubt your 3000 figure.

Guard cancel has the risk of the guard being reapplied before you can make use of it, so not an option for me.

So far, I've found mages to be the most reliable source of footsoldier removal outside of Souun and Omachi.

it has been so long since I've played this game, iirc, sin will affect how your MC will act later on the game.

It isn't that time consuming. Are you using it from the camp or from the actual item menu? If it's from the camp, then that's the problem.

That's how they work. Honestly, most of the time they don't give much exp and are too much effort to kill. Just run away from them.

How are you sure you completed the floor? Sometimes different events take place for leaving a day pass and/or enables new sections.
