Not having to shell out for food shops is definitely nice. I also found means you effectively get an "extra" shop offered every time you set one up, since the otherwise mandatory food shop offering doesn't appear.

It was pretty interesting, being my first Mu win and my first Gozag win. Potion petition really helped out in some tight situations and Bribe is goddamn broken-tier.
Honestly the shops probably made the least impact of all, although still nice.

They'd actually have to address killholing as a strategy, which is problematic because of how crawl reallly works. They'd probably have to throw less enemies at you, more dangerous enemies that don't kill you just by being in LoS (IE no damnation or torment since the only way to mitigate it IS with LoS shenanigans that digging facilitates) rather than mobs of easy fodder and rework formicids altogther. Its a slapshod solution to a large problem, although I think a better solution is just to give elementalists, sorcerers, and annihilators a ray of digging or LRD. Perhaps the destructive ray that eyes have. That fuckboy who was talking about removing wands of digging was an idiot because he thought it influences the ascent, when the real problem is that it does very REAL work at killing most of the dungeon and makes a fool out of pandemonium. They'd actually have to come up with a new postend that doesn't rely on the crutch that is enemies that kill or ruin you just by being in LoS, and maybe a postend that isn't completely reliant on haste.

Killholes are actually pretty shit in most of the hells. Completely useless in Dis for example. There are some amount of pans with crystal/stone walls (like disco pan!), but I think just throwing more undiggable walls is just the same as the elementalists. If they truly want to address it, they need to make it less viable rather than making it harder to accomplish.

This is the deepest I've ever got with a magical char.

What should I skill now? I've got so many books, I can learn most of the spells of te game, except necromutation and some traslocation ones like passage and Cblink. Should I still bother with fighting?

Also I've got a brand weapon scroll, should I use it on my +9 demon trident of venom? It has done wonders so far, and I also have ignite poison so I wasn't sure if changing it would have been a good idea.

Your character is looking really good. That should be enough fighting for quite a while since you have a massive HP pool. You also have a really great spell set for dealing with most of the threats in the dungeon. If you can, post dump with books in your inventory so we can see what spells you can potentially learn and advise about defenses and other stuff. Otheriwse, you're looking pretty rock solid.

The new website where the DL is hosted has zero information on the game, and the readme/Tome doesn't explain a lot of weird shit or specific interactions (like if it's possible to unload firearms in your inventory, or if you have to drop them on the ground every time you want to unload them)

Game is fun as fuck elsewise though.

If you really do have ALL the spells, learn haste/regen/Dmissile and a cloud spell like freezing cloud or Pcloud. Forget magic dart and searing ray, possibly shroud if you aren't attentive in using it.

You should very certainly pickup a buckler if you're going to stick with the dtrident. How much EV do you have? How many pips of steatlh? I think its 5 for bucklers, very small investment for large returns at this point.

Bucklers are 100% worth it. The only reason not to is to 2-hand. But if you are a master caster, you probably don't want to 2-hand.

Haste is definitely fine at like 10%, although ideally you'll want it at 1% if you can. DMissile is much harder to break, and does a better job of deflecting shit. Obviously, it IS based on your EV so if your EV is shit, invest it further. Dmissile is fine at like 30%. Get regen to a decent spellpower, it really does make the difference in a drawn out battle. Low spellpower regen is like getting a free curing, high spellpower is like getting a free HW. A little necromancy goes a long way.

My current char has contracted fungal spores and is growing glowcrusts out of his feet and back. Found a sniper rifle, though, so that's neat.

The game is still in development, and you can't finish the MQ yet as far as I know, but it's receiving updates almost every Friday. Some are small fixes and balance passes, others add content like one huge town or biomes. If there's a major issue the devs do add hotfixes quite quickly.
Any way, I like it, and the tiles are beautiful in my opinion. The few songs that are in really fit the general mood as well, looking forward to the future sound and music.

It protects against the "evil" damage types (except light I guess, but why would "good" damage damage a "good" artifact as well), makes you look better in the eyes of others (+CHR, sust CHR), but encumbers your movement (-speed, stealth, dex). And being made of out glass it's vulnerable to rocks and shit (-shards).

Rune knight jumpstart guide:

Basically the trick for rune knight is so easy you don't even need a video for it

at level 1 you just stairdance until you find a a good/excellent piece of armor or you sell junk until you get 1 K so you can buy a leather scale mail or leather jacket at the starting town, that alonggets you to level 5.

Then you start spamming rune of protection of stacks of items to grab the initial dosh. That also helps with the money. When you get to level 10 you use a rune of fire on the leather scale you are wearing to bump you to 15.

When you get to level 15 you can start spamming rune of light on lanters and sell them back at the general shop (if the shopcap is 750 or more) or the black market (if the cap is <750) because they're worth around >1K each. Since the black market cuts the prices, every lightlamp can be sold for 550 gold so a stack sells for around 60 K. Since every town carries lamps in stacks of 50 and you don't even have to do the tedious work of buying every single armor in the shop, it's ezdosh for starting out.

You grab potions of clarity in the potion shop (blue 5), there's a chance for them to spawn in every city, so you gotta check all four towns. There's a really high chance you'll find a stack of five once every 10 towns and that's plenty to work with.

Once you have the dosh, start selling junk and buying good overpriced stuff at the black market.
It starts getting really diesel when you hit level 32, when you can slap stability on junk armor and sell it for 8 K for every robe. When you've got to that point you buy a shitton of armors, get around 1.5 Million gold and start gambling a shitton of scrolls in morivant. You'll eventually find acquirement and *acquirement*. Go read it in olympus or 555 if you're playing mpa-pcb. If you read them there you're bound to get an artifact that blings you up to level 40, you'll slap [stability] on it and then do the whole thing again until you get to level 50.

Pretty simple, no?

Up until you can fund a couple shops it's gonna be rough, thems the breaks. Clearing Orc:1 for all the popcorn orcs may be a good way to accumulate some quick dosh, just be careful.
I'd say try and find a nice weapon ASAP, weapon cross training may help you if you find a good artifact that's not your specific skill.
Cover that damn rF- hole the moment you can.

(this is all assuming you're a Gl or Fi) Prelair, it'll be all about picking your fights and being absolutely sure you can escape. Get used to the practice of either pillar dancing strong enemies (especially with a weapon of venom!) or "parking" them upstairs to deal with later. The biggest problem in lair is being able to kill spiny frogs without getting fucked, and it mostly has to do with your attack delay and HP. If you get bison, make, cmake, flex, libncurses, libgcc, zlib, and pkg-config you will generally have everything you need to compile any roguelikes.
Most of these come with any packaged Linux distro. Installing the remaining ones is easy on linux.
Installing them on Mingw is easy because of pacman.

If you haven't played in a while:
Dis:7 is a seething pit of despair.
Tartarus has Doom Hounds which create non-summoned enemies nearby you. And Shadow fiends were replaced with miasma melee guys who are tankier and torment a lot.

Dis is more awful than ever. New iron giant enemy that will absolutely wreck you if you let it get near you. It moves very slowly though, so sometimes you can just evoke your feet. Tartarus and anywhere with shadow fiends are now a little worse, because shadow fiends were upgraded to tzhadow fiends, which make miasma rings around you in addition to being tankier and doing their usual shadow fiend stuff. Doom hounds are new, and nail you with a version of an unresistable mark that durably summons tzhadow fiends, reapers and other awful things right on top of you for a few turns. Expect to fight like 3 or 4 demons per howl. They have literally no MR though, so its worth carrying around a paralyze wand to neutralize them on sight.

Cocytus has shard shrikes, avoid fighting packs in the open, theyll wreck you. Also wellsprings shoot water elementals at you (like phial of floods), does a fair bit of damage.

Tartarus has doom hounds which summon shit on you when Howled. Lots of tsitsmitles or whatever the fuck. Prety much shadow fiends

and dis is a shit show with iron giants, dont fight more than one at a time generally. Theyre slow and can be kited to an extent (they have iron shot tho).

Gehenna has stormcallers I guess that's new. Theyre not bad though

That is more an issue with map gen than long branches, but I feel you. Hell effects, enemies being pandemonium 2.0 and super shitty hell:7 layouts are the worst offenders. I wouldn't force the Cock:7 "Small hut in deep water surrounded by ice fiends" layout on anybody. That shit is so awful.

He might not have had the spare exp to invest further than whatever his base is. Probably like ###-#### natural pips, but TM is rather strapped for exp. He can naturally slither away if they're still asleep or whatever, but he has to do something if they notice him. Burning a step through time is a possibility, but maybe not as good as just slouching them 3 times.
