That was the same question asked when they decided to make Achto, and guess what the answer was? Nothing.
So they had to make Achto give you an advantage at raids to make it remotelly usefull, as you said, very niche.
Oh but raids is also where you GET Achto, defeating the whole purpose.
Again, I'm not assuming that t90+ weapons will be niche, but to assume it won't is stupid.
