Yuel is a support character who heals and later on gets two abilities to buff the party's fire damage

Magisa is a support (Brings veil which nullifies status effects) after her LB5 she potentially becomes fire's hardest hitting character (Her "install" mode where she summons Morax gives her something like 35-40% bonus damage in addition to her skill 3 being a stacking damage boost).

F.Metera is a high-damage attacker with a slow+charm and her autos have an additional 'tic' of damage while her ability 1 is up. Has a resource mechanic that gives her abilities additional properties. Does a lot of damage.

Heles is a mediocre attacker who is overshadowed by most characters in her element due to her ability 1 being a deadweight skill and her having no utility to compensate for it.

Magisa 5* is pretty good after her buff, Morax mode lets her auto attack harder and comes with a nuke that can do over 1mil.

She also has staff as her favorite weapon so she hits even harder with a farmed fire pool.

If you are thinking about starting soon I'd wait to see if there is a legfest so you can ticket Apollonia with your start dash, even if it means missing out on this surprise ticket I'd strongly consider it. Though it's a risk since we still don't know if there will be a legfest after this.

Yes, her favored weapon is staves. My Magisa consistently hits harder than everyone aside from Aoidos with Tension3/4 TA and F.Metera sometimes manages to creep up there as well with Baha weapon boost. Heles with baha boost + overdrive bonus pulls about equal damage.

I'd rather just have her since you might never roll her otherwise and Fear on dark is such a nice thing to have access to. I'm just speaking from the context of "If I wanted to play Dark, I would want to have Apollonia". It's ultimately up to his discretion for knowing that he's going to have a hard time until he can clear the story.

No, their roles are entirely different. In most HL fights you bring both of them. Percival isn't brought for his damage - he's brought for Fear. In terms of actual damage Percival is actually on the lower end for fire attackers, it's just that the combination of "Well he still does significant damage + fear" is what makes him the preferred choice.
