Honestly, I prefer the mastery system, at least now to reach the "level cap" you actually gain abilities, instead of just some arbitrary stat gains and the ability to not be instagibbed by high level mobs.

Masteries are garbage because they're arbitrary walls in front of content that is already obviously part of a completed design. It's functionally in line with the "NOW" part of pic related in terms of how the content is delivered: the content is already there, the player just has to perform some extra action or go through some extra process to access it for no reason at all other than either the publisher/company wants more money or wants to mask the true quality (or lack thereof) of their product.

Gear gets scaled down along with your character. You still have an advantage (I can steamroll most of those events due to having max gear) but it's not a crutch you should rely on and Toxic events are one of the few examples of non-HoT PVE content that actually has teeth and can put pressure on the player.

They should introduce a system of open world pvp in all pve areas (even low lvl ones) where you can go around and kill naps and when you kill enough of them your bad rep fills resulting in your tag chaning to a red one instead of the turqois one which means everyone will be chasing you and trying to kill you for the bounty and then when you die you can't get resurrected at a WP but have to respawn in a dungeon instead where you have to buy yourself out of the dungeon cell in order for your bad rep to go down and your tag to retain his normal color instead of the red one again

ESO is already dead. Don't bother with that game.

WoW is on a downward spiral to its death. Blizzard is trying to milk its remaining fanbase while it focuses on making new hits like HotS or Overwatch.

Guild wars 2 does have its problems, but I think the game is maturing and will get better in the future. The population is good thanks to megaservers and WvW pairings, the community is really nice desu, and you can solo or group play through the game.

Try it as a f2p up to level 80 before you decide if you wanna buy the expac. You don't miss out at lower levels.

GW2 is casual as fuck, f2p, and 90% of the content can be done with your eyes closed, not even exaggerating.
That being said, it's one of the few MMOs right now that's actually improving.

Elder scrolls is neat, it really forces the community to interact or fail. It mostly does the latter, sadly. Honestly plagued by the times and having pissed off half TES fanbase.

Play WoW if you like having far too much content and not enough time to do it in. It might be a subbed game but it actually delivers the content to back it up, even though many other facets of why it was worth the sub are totally gone now.

Honestly, if you're thinking of picking up an MMO now, don't.
