Element Phial Charge Blades destroy anything with a significant elemental weakness, but are pretty niche since heads have a tendency to be squishy, making Impact better for general use.

It is but they still play pretty differently and hammer is still extremely solid and is pretty well-polished in terms of how you use it.

Most (not all) weapons do pretty well with status and elemental. Oddly, SnS isn't one of them. It hits really fast but it gets bad values for elemental in particular. You might want to go elemental or blast anyway to avoid using the top raw SnS because it's really ugly, at least until you get a decent relic (which can have elemental/status AND higher raw than any craftable). If you do use status SnS I recommend complementing it with trapmaster, playing to the strengths of the weapon to overcome its weaknesses.

DB is great for both element and status, though the actual options for status tend to be lackluster. You can get status relic DBs that outclass the craftable ones really easily though.

Elemental CB is actually really strong, the guide in the OP is biased and impact is mostly used in 140 TAs because elemental doesn't affect apex monsters while they're in apex mode without sacrificing some damage somewhere else. The elemental output of their burst is absurdly high.

Hammer actually does pretty well with elemental and status, LBG works extremely well for both (especially dragon as far as element goes), lance is definitely an elemental/status weapon and GS would appear at first glance to suck for both because of its low hitrate but the charge attack multiplies the amount of element/status applied so it's actually fairly strong. LS is also fairly good for attribute-based attacks because of its high hitrate.

IG has a fantastic hitrate AND high values for attributes in addition to being the best at everything but KOs.

What ranks are considered high rank in MH4

Tiggy's roars are the type that can hurt you, that was his gimmick back then, it discouraged GSs from sniping a lv.3 charge and made everyone approach it differently. I still use HGE on many of my sets (even if they don't call for it) but it's a nice 15-point skill to have.

I think i will try online in MH4U after i get my velociraptor set and polish a weapon relic i got, i just have a question: How do i find "low level" parties? What should i look at in lobbies?
I saw people with hr4 to hr100 or something, no idea how that translates to level of monsters they hunt. Will i be able to play with people if i still can only do low-rank guild quests or i have to grind them all untill high-rank lady will talk to me?

in fu it was one set and one horn because fuck if I'm playing anything other than aul in that game. in 3u, it was one set and switched between two or three horns for different songs. in 4u it's back to just one set and one horn again. there's a lot of good horns in this game, so I could see someone switching around, but I doubt they change their armor any more than whether or not they need sharpness+1

Aerial's invisible frame is slightly delayed
combine with armor that extends dodge time frame simple make life easier
also you're able to ride down some bigger monster that your hammer can't reach

How should I play with the Lance? Just started out and got a Kecha Wacha water lance and the amror set which is pretty cute. So far not big issues although Charge Blade kills stuff much faster but I've yet to understand how to keep my attacks steady against some monsters and when to counter or not, like against Testucabra? Also other useful lances to make at this low level? Thanks.

Razor Sharp is a NECESSARY skill on any DB.
Speed Sharpening is useless because you WILL miss openings because your sharpness dropped to blue/green.
Pure DBs are straight up better even if you don't consider sharpness, Le Shangri-La is better on any monster that you would use these on, Dios DB too and Wunderkirin on Savage Jho.
If you DO need these 3 weapon slots you won't be able to fit a 5 slotter.

I downloaded MH3G and want to play it, mostly to relive the comfy experience of the third gen without the +50 armor casual crutch they put in the 3U -- but I forgot all about charm tables.

Was the Japanese version broken like the US version where tables were locked? Do all of the RNG timer tricks for choosing your table still work in 3G compared to 3U?

power shot became baseline, a new coatings and level 2 power coating, and special shots up increases power shot damage by 20%. it's a fucking monster.

swaxe is good only because two of the hunter arts can be combined in striker to infinitely extend eachother. basically imagine swaxe with permanent bow power coating while in sword mode, and infinite sword mode.

CB lost quick dial AEDS and guardpoints got changed, GS got a slight nerf but really it just doesn't mesh with any of the new shit, IG got nerfed into the ground in all areas.

If you're a GS user and you're going through caravan, I recommend sticking to the Scylla GS until you can make Hermitaur, then go from Hermitaur to Seregios which will hold you all the way until G rank.

Lv.2 coatings are the original 50% boost, Lv.1 is a weaker, 35% boost.
The new elemental coatings are piss poor, since you can only carry 20 of each, 10 extra with combines.
Lv.4 charges are a lot more effective now thanks to Special Shots Up and Power Shot becoming universal, especially since Bushido gives instant 3rd charges for every dodge, with 4th being less than a second away.

Bushido DB is ridiculously overpowered.
In arch/demon mode, your bushido dodge attacks during the twirl, and also gives you a chunk of meter in either mode. After the twirl, you can choose to stop right where you landed, or you can go into two Bushido dashes which make you COMPLETELY INVINCIBLE during them, and you can cancel out between dashes by hitting X to start your attack chain again.
Compare this to the other Bushidos, where you're forced to run like a headless chicken after the twirl, and you DON'T get invincibility.
The only trade-off is you can't beyblade off ledges for aerial attacks.

Just got into MH4U after having not played a game in the series since Freedom Unite. Really loving the charge blade, but the upgrade mats are a real bitch to get with how early in the game I am.

I've got the Defender's Blade right now and can upgrade it into the Guardsqual, Dear Lutemis or Kaiser Blade. I really wanna go the Lutemis route but I just got to the Zamtrios quest in the caravan and at the moment his mats are easier to get for the Guardsquall than Rathian parts since I haven't even seen a Rathian yet. Only problem is the Guardsquall has negative afinity and I dunno if it's worth putting time and resources into getting rid of. I could just keep my charge blade where it is but it's starting to fall behind the monsters I'm fighting a bit, mostly in the sharpness department. Feels like I have to sharpen every two minutes.

Should I go the Guardsquall and put into lowering the affinity debuff or wait til I get to the Rathian and go Dear Lutemis? When will I even get to fight a Rathian? I'm at 4-star caravan quests and the biggest wyvern I've fought is the Basarios.

I can't tell if you're being serious or not, but Monster Hunter 3 was not on the PS2. Monster hunter 3G wasn't on the Wii, and Monster Hunter 5 isn't going to be on the 3DS. If you seriously think Nintendo is going to release a new platform and then dump resources into new games for their old platforms, this must be your first console cycle.

Solo HH actually isn't bad. You get a lot of KO and especially exhaust, so monsters are easier to fight than with most weapons and there isn't as much difference between TAs and the average run (despite the skill ceiling on HH being very high due to its... "eclectic" hitboxes and very slow attacks). But yes, it does do very little damage and take the longest to solo monsters with of any weapon.
