They have this talent for staying silent long enough to irritate people with lack of news, then finally break the ice with dumb shit that gets them even more hate.

They really need to choose between taking their community communication seriously, or being a silent, corporate fortress in between updates. Trying to play it both ways is biting them in the ass twice as hard.

I always go after the Siren with the Zerker, since I took soundproof and I thought it was just me who found it annoying when people would waste ammo to go after kills that were already someone else's just so they can look cooler.

If it helps, I only have like 58 hours in this game and my highest classes are a level 11 Medic and level 10 Zerker, so I feel like I have no idea what im talking about most of the time.

Well there are these things called "ammoboxes". They're little green cubes scattered around the map which give you more ammo.

If he's running at you to smack you, whip out your knife (assuming you didn't bring a Katana) and block, you'll be fine (nine times out of ten).

I personally don't enjoy kiting for very long either, but if your plan for when shit really goes down is "fuck that honestly", then you may as well learn to love being wiped, because you'll be doing a lot of it.

Since it's only available on normal/short and ammo boxes and weapons are everywhere, it's literally easy mode to play as survivors.

No. Commando is only good for zed time extensions, nothing else.
If you want a perk that can kill both trash and big shit, play Berserker. If you want a ranged version of that, play Gunslinger.
If you want the god of all trash killers, play Firebug.
If you want to be a dedicated SC/FP killer, play Medic with a crossbow.

Yes, but if you're playing pubs then don't bother with supplying them. Support is very mediocre tier but can at least fend for themselves and get some useful level up skills until you hit about 20, then it becomes sort of underwhelming all round.

Demo is very fragile, becomes a pain to use until at least level 15 where you aren't shut down completely by sirens and need to be protected because you can't fight up close for shit.

After his outburst against the team, nobody did shit for him like give him money or help him in dire situations, just because he brought everyone else into it for no reason.
Saying that though, just as he was about to die from being surrounded, I intentionally threw a nade just as he was at a pinch of health, a second after he died the gas flowed out and I went "oops it didn't activate fast enough" just out of spite.
So the last thing he was greeted with when it came to his death was the belated nade opening up which could have saved him, but didn't.

I think what bothers me even more about the retarded zedconomy is that I don't feel like my money is going to a cause I want. I've spent over 120 dollars in cosmetics for path of exile because the game is free, amazing, and the money goes straight to the devs. If I purchased a cosmetic from the market for 60 bucks not only does the person who created the community item basically get nothing, but tripwire basically gets nothing. Are you max level? What are your perks?
Anyway:
Use CnB until you get the MWG, then use it only as a backup or when you run out of ammo.
Never hold the button, always tap fire.
Tap once for crawlers, tap twice for clots/gorefasts. Tap sirens/husks/bloats only if there are other zeds nearby that might trigger Shrapnel when they die.
Don't waste ammo on FPs and SCs. You kill WAY more trash with the same ammo, and usually someone with a Crossbow can kill it in much fewer hits anyway.
Just focus on keeping trash out of your teammate's assholes when big zeds show up.

Bullpup is solid early on and for trash because lods of ammo
AK is great, too. Spread is strong, but the burst-fire makes popping head on medium to large zeds satisfying, ammo pool is shit though.
SCAR has very solid damage, is good to handle, good for magdumping into scrake heads.

SMG needs 2 shots to decap trash, medic pistol 1. You're better off just skipping it.
Medic Shotgun is not so great either. Low spread and recoil but not as powerful as it sounds.
Medic AR stumbles pretty much anything, has a high recharge rate on darts, 3 darts to shoot, good damage and ammo reserves. Spread takes some time to get used to, but it is THE weapon you should get ASAP.

That just adds to the problem the game has atm, its a massive inconvenience that this is the way it has to be done. Between underwhelming damage on some weapons and lowish counts on ammo in most counts, especially compared to KF1, its not fun having to lug around a second of the same gun just because its so gimped.

Welding was destroyed because doors have their own HP and can not respawn so you're better off not even touching them unless you really need XP during trader time or have door trap as demo.

Encouraging people to stay on the move would be implementing the crawler's gas suicide from PvP, but instead of the crawler suiciding, it would activate when you killed it. Same goes for Bloats killed in the area and the bile on the ground.

Destructible lights only really help on dark maps or maps that don't take place outside, so unless you made everything a destructible light, you'd still have the bodylight/nightvision to be able to see.

Probably not, if people want to camp and the game isn't hard enough to force them out of the camping spot, they'll do it.

However, they aren't all working together on the game's core, or the thing would be done by now. And a quick look through the file structures shows no coherent organization, everything seems to be put together in a haphazard, last second sort of deal that's never the same thing twice.
meanwhile, employees are jumping ship, vacancies can't be filled, and remaining devs put out side projects made with recycled assets based on what they think might be cool on Workshop.

The leveling system in KF2 is a HELL of a lot better.
Now I say this as someone who got every perk to Level 25 without any perk training maps or cheat engine. Why? Because I find it fun, stop disliking what I like.

Now listen up, getting a perk from 0 to 25 takes, about, 30-40 hours per perk.
Now this is still a grind, but it's not a GRIND like KF1.

Sharpshooter 0 to 6 required 17,330 headshot kills.
Commando 0 to 6 required 7680 stalker kills.

However, KF1 should be referred to in considering atmosphere.
In KF1, there were SPOOKY maps. Like the kind of maps where you've played hundreds of hours already but then you get this map and you're like ooooooooooh fuck I hate this scary ass shit.
KF2 just doesn't have that, I can't explain why, but it ain't scary at all. Like not even slightly. Prison is as close as we get to old school spooky, but only in a shadowy reminiscent way.

The crawler gas was probably going to be designed to spawn if it gets killed by certain weapons. I cannot for the life of me figure out what weapons would cause the crawlers to explode in smoke.

Maybe the demo weapons were suppose to do that. Possibly melee weapons also.

I do like the idea of temporary toxic gas released by crawlers death in PvAi, I really wish we did get bloats to leave permanent acid puddles on their deaths though. There is so much stuff that seems to be designed to make the players want to change locations per wave but it just falls short.

The melee is far much better in 2. It actually feels like I'm slicing and chopping shit with strength now, plus the new block and parry mechanics have potential, as well as the stab attack.
I really like the new mo-cap animations that give the zeds a lot more character.

Honestly I've felt like I'm 'grinding' levels more in this game than in KF1. In the first one, since you were on each of the (relatively few) levels for so long, I felt like I just had to make do with what I had while I worked toward the next level, and I could temporarily plateau at my current progress. KF2 just has me constantly pushing forward to top off a new perk because of the number of levels, despite the system being almost the same due to the handful of actually meaningful levels (5, 10...). By that sense, the feeling of progression is diluted by all the dead-weight levels, where there's no satisfaction that you can actually do something better with a 1 or 2% stat increase, and thereby feel like you're really stronger and accomplished something through that level-up. This is made worse by perks easily being rendered black or white by the level-locked perk bonuses, opposed to the gradual consistency of KF1 bonuses, where gaining access to them feels (and is often actually) mandatory to the perk.
Constantly tagging zeds in KF2 is also a silly chore in efficiency that I'm glad I don't have to worry about by large anymore, and it just distracts players from what they should be worrying about, often inciting incredulous behavior (unloading on a group of headless gorefasts that were across the map sure is a great idea).

I have the same problem with this game, eventually my GPU and PSU exploded during a big firefight after ROTP update. It wasn't like this at all at release, but now it makes my card hot as hell just launching it and sitting at main menu. Nothing in my library burns my leg and makes as much noise as KF2.

At level 20 you can choose a skill that doubles your splash damage. Since the microwave gun does 20 damage on a direct hit, and 20 damage splash damage, you end up doing 40 splash damage and still only 20 direct hit damage.

There's a webm somewhere demonstrating this, where a few scrakes are placed in a line. The player keeps shooting the one directly in the middle, and the ones off to the side die first from the splash damage.

Depends on few things for me.
If the team is capable I pick Boomstick with AA12 and just kill anything that gets close, while helping with big guys.
If it's higher difficulty and I need to help a lot with thrash then SG500, Boomstick and AA12.
If the team is shit and constantly is raped by big guys, I go with Xbow, AA12 and Deagle, but even on Sui ammo will go fast.
And I always buy medic pistol for thrash killing and heals.

We're talking about EU here, right? As I know it, only higher difficulty communities like Suicidal or Hell on Earth have widely english speaking communities; US and EU players together. Lower difficulties are abit more random so I can't direct you anywhere.

As a lvl3 mando who wants a fresh start, I believe no one expects you to be a hardcore.
Skillorz servers (DEU) have nice variety of servers, from Beginner to Hell. KFK servers (FRA), also appear to have a different difficulty servers and even glider ammo servers for easy achievement (it's white listed), but apparently no kickvote. For US servers, I honestly have no idea since I only play at europe servers and most of the USA players I know, do the same.

I haven't bought it yet but I've been following Battle Brothers, and it looks pretty fucking cool from the outside. Devs update regularly, community loves it, seems like fun but also fairly challenging. Apparently it's being made by 5 guys from Germany or something who are just amateur devs with actual full time jobs.

I haven't bought it so I can't say for certain but it actually looks like, dare I say it, Early Access Done Right.

I was rused by Starbound myself, I haven't been following the development closely though.

They have been doing very frequent updates tho, they have a nightly which updates every day. I played it a bit at the start, and didn't like it. Going to wait for it to get to 1.0 release, cause it does look like its improved a lot, but i'm keeping expectations low.

I've done Don't starve together, which was recently fully released. It took a long ass time to come out, but I was satisfied with the game. Pub experience is even worse than killing floor 2 though. You either join and get kicked instantly cause host is a retard that doesn't know how to make a private lobby, or you join and everyone is a walking vegetable that can't do anything on their own. The drop system doesn't have crates yet, though that may change soon enough. Maybe it won't cause a huge shitstorm like it did in kf2, maybe it'll be even worse.

kf2 should seriously consider making crates use a separate drop system and increasing normal skin drops, 4 a week in don't starve is still a crawl and kf2's 1 a week with a big chance of just getting a usb that's not even craftable is retarded.

Some of you were disappointed this mod would contain memes, and i'm sorry about that, i plan on making a version with less of this stuff. I'll come back later/make a post in the steam group when i need help making the lines for that. But that'll take a long time.

I did mention making a tutorial, but the link in the OP for making sound mods is much more comprehensive than mine could ever be, but i'll try and sort something out in that respect if you want help with making sound mods.

Every month they provide a 60+ page magazine detailing everything. A multi page online report with development screenshots and paragraphs of information is published on their site.
Every week the CEO will do a Q&A video, if he cannot make it anyone higher up will fill in for him so it never goes amiss. They also will produce a 40-50 minute long video series highlighting community videos and work as well as all development studio work. After this they will do an 1 hour+ livestream giving a more detailed and informal look at development. Each week they will also show a bug and how they fixed it in excruciating detail.
They also have an issue council where the community can submit formal bug reports in the same format official QA members would. This then gives these community members access to early test builds of new iterations of the game to provide more testing. More bugs you've reported the more likely you are to get in. Rewarding the community for helping developing the game, imagine that.

What's even more sad is that unlike almost every EA game on the market, KF2 has a solid foundation to build upon.
They've already got practically every zed carried over from the previous game. The only new additions are the clot variants and Hans.
All the perks are the same as in KF1, except some have been split in 2 to make "more perks." SS is now SS and Gunslinger, Medic is now Field Medic and SWAT, and Berserker is now Berserker and Martial Artist.

And yet they manage to fuck it all up.
The Scrake is no longer a "kill it before it's pissed" zed, it's "run away and kill it with death by a thousand cuts."
The Fleshpound can't be kited, instead it's basically the new Scrake but more spongy.
The characters and dialogue are all a massive downgrade from how campy and chill the original was. At worst the dialogue is now super serious mercenary talk, at best it feels like a cheap version of the original dialogue. Not to mention the majority of voice commands were removed.
The maps are all worse, featuring tons of chokepoints and corridors thus making zerkwalling a thing while also making kiting a living nightmare.
Nobody had an issue with buying skins from the in-game store, and now we have microtransactions and markets where skins cost dozens if not hundreds of dollars.

It's funny how Tripwire is most likely the most experienced and well-funded EA developer AND they had the benefit of having developed a very similar game previously to use as a foundation.
And what do they do with all this?
They completely demolish fanbase expectations, they're extremely slow to deliver updates, they take EVERYTHING good in the original and fix what's not broken.

God, I could write a fucking 20 page essay on everything that is wrong with this game.

To be fair, the Crossbow has very much fixed that. It's stupid how easy it is to decap a Scrake now with a stun + .500 spam from a Gunslinger, and this is all assuming the Gunslinger is the only one who's getting damage on his head during the whole thing. The Scrake will likely not even be out of the stun by the time his head is destroyed. This is all provided your team covers you from anything grabbing you or knocking you back, so I think it works very well. Of course, if allowed to rage, getting a stun with the crossbow already goes down the drain. I think it's a perfect combination of having to have coordination within the team.

This I agree with. I hate how the Fleshpound is so hard to bring down, even with a Demo who stuns him with a nade and C4s or RPGs his ass. This definitely still needs fixing.

It worked much better as it did in KF1, where the Fleshpound wasn't exactly a mass of muscles on steroids that can absorb a stupid amount of shots, but instead, more of the kind of zed that, if allowed to rage and to get close to the team, meant a wipe. Of course, it was still pretty resilient to most kinds of damage aside from explosives, but at least it wasn't a pipe dream to get a clean kill on one with enough skill. The only way to get a clean kill now is if you get lucky and zed time procs right before you start shooting the FP, so a nuke from a Demo kills it while it's stunned.

Unless they nerf the living shit out of it, like they should, it just shows how poorly designed both the perks and big zeds are.
If you NEED weapon X because your perk weapon Y is not strong enough/capable of killing a SC/FP efficiently, that's horrible game design.
Obviously perks like Firebug shouldn't be taking down SCs and FPs left and right, but Demo and GS BARELY being able to handle them (without Crossbows) showcases how poorly they thought this was going to work.

Which is exactly what I'm saying.
Again, I'm not saying you should be able to take them down with dual 9mms or any random tier 3 weapon, but the perks that are supposed to be able to take them down (Gunslinger for Scrakes, Demolitions and Berserker for FPs) struggle to do so.
It's not like they should be piss easy to take down, but if the perks designed to take said zeds down only do so SLIGHTLY better than perks not meant to do it, then something isn't quite right.

I forgot the old beauty of KF1.
Playing KF1 today I remembered some of it. The act of taking down multiple scrakes and fleshpounds before they could lay a hand on anyone. It required such grace, such finesse. The symmetry of every man understanding his role in the grand design. The flawless execution as each partner fulfills his assigned role. The charm of their swift yet measured movement, the entrancing flow of action and calm in adequate measure. All made possible only by the talent of those who knew what they were doing.

In KF2, seeing a big guy just seems to result in ALL UNITS FIRE! BLAST IT!
Which is fun, but... so crude, so... lacking in the breathtaking display of aesthetics and dynamics married together in flawless harmony.

You know in recent times I've remembered a lot of things I shouldn't have forgotten about KF1. I almost feel that, in my eagerness to embrace KF2 as the supposed perfect evolution a year ago, I forgot much of what made KF1 great.

I wouldn't say gunslinger is designed to kill scrakes. That's sharpshooters job. And the crossbow is a sharp shooter weapon so that seems pretty fine to me. Demo is definitely not as strong as it should be against FPs and without the appropriate perks they're both difficult for the other perks to deal with.

I suppose it would be a bit of an exaggeration to say GS is "designed" for it, but it's arguably more fit for the job than perks like Firebug or Support. I know Support is weak, but still, it doesn't seem like a shotgun would be a good way of dealing with a zed that charges at you when it's pissed off, especially with the total lack of stun or knockdown skills.

It would be a bit better if you could at least extend the duration before it autorages, kite it, or make the damage it does to you negligible.
If the Fleshpound would be properly designed you should be able to kill it quickly with the right combo/perk, but if you leave it alone for too long it does MASSIVE damage. Currently it just hits you semi-hard instead of being a near one-shot kill.

Bullpup, SCAR, Hunting Shotgun, Flamethrower, M79/M32, Pipebombs, Fire Axe, pretty much all the medicguns, Handcannons, Crossbow, Lever Action though that's probably just because it's my favorite.

Probably a good half the weapons felt pretty iconic to me. They all just felt so good to use.

well, a few good friends of mine decided it'd be really cool to go to a convention together and meet up IRL, so the plan is that we're heading to MegaCon in orlando florida

initially i was going with a SCAR because to me that was the most "killing floor" of all the AR's, but the "paper model" was actually just a bunch of soggy printed out DIY pages with no instructions anywhere within the package.

anywho, it's hard to find fake weapons but right now this deagle prop on ebay is my fallback

my to-do list is currently:

>get a black hoodie and put red stripes down the arms myself via sewing or airbrushing or whatever
>get some light gray paint to paint over my black kneepads
>get contacts so i can see with the goggles on because glasses obviously wont fit (this is going to be interesting because i have this thing about shit touching my eyes)
>settle on a backpack that vaguely resembles scully's, and put what i can of the backpack decals on there

everything else is accounted for, but fuck me for procrastinating.

I'm going to a con this summer dressed as a Home Guard NEET. Hoping others from my country will show up in the same uniform since some of them have expressed interest in it, but so far I've not been contacted yet. There's 3 months to go though so I'm not anxious just yet.
Luckily since our uniforms are a bit more lax when it comes to glasses and goggles, I can just barely fit my glasses under the goggles.

The Deagles are a nice choice, they fit Scully pretty well if you ask me.
If you'd like some assistance (I've got nothing better to do) I can mail you large .pngs of the decals on Scully's backpack. I gotta make them first, but I have an amateur's degree in graphic design so it should be easy.

Why don't you ask /diy/? I mean the only thing you need to do is copying the models to a solid cardboard and building it. If it appears to have an active feedback mechanism then throw in some strong rubberbands to support it.

That's cool as shit, i'd do that too if I had the money and time. I probably will end up going with the deagle, rifle props are seemingly non-existent and the only other handgun I can find is the 9mm. And why show up with a 9mm when you can show up with a cannon?

Took some shitty pictures of the headgear on my shitty phone, it ain't pretty but you get the point. Appreciate the offer on the decals but I had a buddy pull up scully's model in some program and get screens for me.

I am NOT good with craft stuff. Remember in elementary school when the teachers would have you cut out papers around the dotted lines? that took me 2x-3x longer than all the other kids, and it was always jagged.

Now imagine me cutting out all of this shit at the bottom perfectly and then fitting it all the hundreds of pieces from 20+ pages of shit together with no instructions. It's just not going to happen, I am not the type of person who can get that to work.

So, I've finished it.

It's very small and is focused on two things:
1) The smoke. Map consists of 4 rooms and corridors between them (excluding 8 ways for zeds to come, 4 of which are behind the doors).

At any moment there is only one room that is not filled with smoke. Every few minutes it switches to one of the 2 closest rooms. 10 seconds before smoke will start appearing, yellow strobe lights turn on.

Red lamp above one of the exits will turn green, that's a sign that corresponding room is clear now.

The smoke is very thick, and if you will not move, you will be at a huge disadvantage.

When boss spawns, all smoke is removed.

2) Welding is... Well, from what I've seen, it is extremely useful. Each room has 3 ways for zeds to approach, and if you will weld the door, it will turn into only 2.

First, the doors have around 2 billions health. I'm not sure if it's possible to exhaust all that health in a single game without intention.

Second, its maximum "weld" hp is 2500 instead of regular 1500.

There are only 4 doors, and if zeds (or players) will break one, it's gone forever, so try to unweld them before you move to the other room.

I've added air shafts above all doors so you can nade things on the other side, just destroy its cover with your gun. On BOTH sides, preferably.

Using air shafts you can kill almost all trash behind the door before unwelding it, it's pretty consistent. Scrakes and fleshpounds do not spawn there.

For firebug, make sure you got extra mwgs so you don't run outta ammo, when the boss is about to swipe you with a melee, backpedal and mwg alt fire to keep him off you.

I don't play much support at all, but I'd guess it's pack 2 - 3 aa12s and a pulv, and try to keep at midrange and not to close so you have time to swap to pulv to parry the boss so he doesn't chunk you for most of your health.

Culling has a lot of ups and downs. They're doing extremely well with early access in regards to updates and communication, but since it's early acceas a whole lot of the game constantly shifts from patch to patch.

I'd say it's Early Access done right. It's fun for casual play, but for serious play.. I'd recommend against it because it's in early access and they're doing a lot of experimenting
