So I've now heard that infusing your weapon will restrict invasions/pvp in that it only lets you connect to people who have found the coal required for the infusion you are using.

As an example, if you were to make a low level invader and turn your weapon into a lightning weapon, then you'd only be able to invade people who have already found the giant's coal, which is a bit further into the game.

I don't have confirmation on this myself, but I could see it being true. Does anyone know more, has anyone tested it? I wouldn't be surprised if they did this to be honest.

It's not a Dark Sword and the Dark Sword is the only weapon that From wants you to use.

Across the giant, down the ladder to left, straight across a bridge, into a sewer with 6 rats, then through the hole they came in from where you will fight 2 fuckhuge rats in a chamber, outside the chamber go straight to the left and follow that path and you'll unlock a shortcut.

You don't have to wake up the giant. Go upstairs and look at the holes in the walls towards the large chamber. You can jump down in the first one as you enter the hallway from outside, where you will drop right next to the giant without waking him up.

It has better R2s and Weapon Art than the Dark Sword though.
Ballerina R2s are fine, but Longsword ones are superior.
Stomp is unconventional, Stance is god.

Possible to go a high Str build ( > 30 ) and still have decent poise, decent roll + a side specialty (faith) ?

Ancient Wyvern is a semi-Sens Funhouse.
Deacons are just plain fun being slowly overwhelmed by undead priests.

Having finished the game I can give some thoughts that nobody cares about.

Pros:
1.Decent to good area design(catacombs and demon ruins spoil it)
2.Territory covenants are super fun and crazy
3.Later bosses like Dragon armor, soul of cinder,Pontiff sully and the Lothric bros are damn fantastic
4.Decent weapon variety
5.Music is great across the board

Cons:
1.Lore and story is super weak this time, lots of callbacks and a fair amount of pandering
2.NPC questlines are fucking insanity to complete
3.Tons of gimmick bosses, Deacons,Yhorm,Wyvern,Wolnier,Crystal sage.
4.Asset reuse is crazy bad in some areas, literal chalice dungeon repaste jobs. Enemies are flat out from the previous games including bloodborne in terms of animations and movesets.
5.Still might be to early to call until balance sweeps but Magic as a whole is incredibly underwhelming and rigid(rings) and new spells are few and far between, real half assed job.

Biggest con by a fucking mile is how the game is flat out geared to be a faster paced souls game like Bloodborne but they don't give you the tools to compete in it. You can certainly beat the game with a Greataxe but you are absolutely going to have a harder time than if you just used a straightsword or something faster. It kills replayablility to know that you are going to have a significantly harder time on certain builds than the one true god build of longswords.

Its still fun to play because its still a souls game, but it has the most glaring flaws in the series. If it had soul memory I could easily see placing it in the last place but because DS2 still does I can't rate it lower.

Pyro isn't good, it's god. You get the rings you need to make it viable very early, and Carthus Flame Arc is available pretty early too by getting the tome in the catacombs.

Magic isn't bad either, you just need to go through 50% of the game (anor londo) to get the items/rings/spells you need for it to be viable.

They make you do 360s regularly, AND they go flying when you hit them once making them almost unable to be killed with one punish.

Abyss Watchers were pretty cool in the sense that they were all fighting, but that's about the only cool thing about the boss. Other than that it's nothing we haven't seen before.

It's not that the fight is difficult to figure out, it's about the mechanic the bossfight is built around. They could have changed it and made it differently in order to make it a bit more difficult, but the concept isn't bad and it's fun to see other bossfights.

This in a nutshell. The enemy placement and core combat mechanics are complete garbage, the only thing that saves this game is the aesthetic. Some hints though: learn to parry, use the backstep attack, use the roll attack, use the running R2. Shitters never expect any of those.

Top tier of UGS weapons, mid-tier overall. Has the best UGS moveset, the horizontal one, and with a decent quality build does good damage. Requires hard reads and fakeouts in PvP to get a 2-hit combo in, but the damage and range make it worth it. The weapon art is also GREAT as a roll-catcher for people trying to backstab fish you and also self-buffs the weapon, albeit not that much.
