As someone who liked both DaS games, I can say that DaS3 is fun, but then they have to take shit from Bloodbourne into it.

Rolling is the only way to survive. Shields are nigh useless, armor is useless. Magic is solid and works for the most part, and you can only upgrade weapons now because how useless armor has become. Also, most enemies are hyperaggressive, fast as fuck, and home onto you just as bad as they did in DaS2.

So yeah, I'm pretty torn about the game. Shit's fun, but not as fun as it could be.

Hitboxes are better, but the faster pace and aggressiveness from Bloodbourne doesn't fit the game. Enemies are also unpredictable as fuck. Sometimes they do their full attack chain, sometimes they stop after one swing and delay their second or third. Somestimes they do. They also hit fast as fuck.

I hate to say it but I actually had more fun playing DaS2, despite it's flaws with ADP and so on. My reflexes aren't what they used to be, and this increased pace is actually a bit of a downer. It feels more like Bloodbourne rather than Dark Souls at the moment.

Only that some of the early enemies are a bit too powerful and can be frustrating. Mind you, anybody can justifiably say that I need to git gud. I think the one thing that kicks my ass is the fact that parrying is harder than it is in Bloodborne. I could parry consistently and very well with guns in Bloodborne. I'm awful at it in Dark Souls 3.

Enemies in DaS2 were predictable though. You could learn their patterns, and they always telegraphed their attacks fairly well, similar to the first game.

They'd already fixed that with upgraded weapons factoring into matchmaking. Making armor unupgradeable just makes armor that much worse, because you, your enemies, and your weapon all get stronger but armor stays the same.

This is my only problem with the gameplay. The combat is built around the stamina system for every action you do and works best when there is a balance between defense and offense and how you build your character. DaS1 nailed this pretty good PvE wise. I could to tanky tonk one time and flippy dick the next and both worked equally good.

Defensive play in 3 is nerfed, and i hope they patch it. Unless you're 2-handing a +9 greatshield you're gonna get stamina raped, guard broken and btfo the way it is now.

In defense of the game i had yet to notice this before someone mentioned it because i was busy having so much fun. I still love the game to death.

How important is Endurance?

I feel like most of my levels should be spent buffing my stamina with how aggressive everyone is

don't neglect the shield, it's still useful and worth upgrading. The parry in this game is so off with that retarded wind up that I don't even bother with it. Replay DaS 1 and it'll seem much easier than 3. The enemies aren't as much stupid fucks this time. They are fast and unpredictable. Feels like you can't cheese them anymore. Running past them works wonders though. I find myself killing enemies to learn the map and its secrets, then I just run around them if I end up dying.

The long and short of it is they used Bloodbornes engine and design, but copy-pasted shit from the souls games. That's why half the equipment doesn't seem to work well, its why you take hits for trying to use a heavy weapon at all, its why all that heavy armor is a paper-weight and if you ain't rolling you're dying.

Couple this with the use of assets from DS1 and DS2 and you've got a game that is a hodgepodge of design and no real clear-cut focus.
