It's Miyazaki's fault really.

The infusion system is pure shit and makes it so that every weapon is best on a quality build, whereas in the past there were weapons that were good on pure STR/DEX builds, because you could put points into other stats. Now that there's no reason to play anything other than quality, the meta is of course going to be based around the only build that matters.

Why would you make sacrifices if everyone's playing the same build? Just hit the softcaps on everything so everyone is equal, but with different weapons. Miyazaki might not have intended this, but it's likely his fault regardless.

I have to say, for all of DaS2's faults they did try to balance the thing.

Remember how binoboosting got removed. How armor ratings were lowered. Hexes no longer were guranteed one shots.

So balanced that an R1 from katana deals more damage than an R2 from UGS. So balanced you can't hyperarmour through stone ring longsword running R1 unless wearing full havel's. So balanced that playing with a straight sword, spear or estoc takes zero effort, while UGS' require a lot of practice and learning to become decent (and even then, between two equal opponents, the one wielding faster weapon will always win, no exceptions). Don't even get me started on attack cancels, which, again, take no effort to pull off with katana, but require practice with UGS.

For anyone who knows, or has been playing DS3 on PC, what controller do you use?

I used a ps3 controller for DS1 and 2 and have no idea if it will work for DS3. I know that you can use a ps4 controller for each of the games, but I never set one up because I didn't need to.

So I finished DS1 one time a few years ago and loved it. Got up to dragon shrine on DS2 but now I'm probably gonna stop because I just wanna try out DS3 because I didn't enjoy DS2 as much, the first game seemed like a lot more fun.

So I've probably got about 150 hours in the souls games altogether, but I don't know *that* much.
